Alternate RealityHello Fellow Deviants!Alternate Reality3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Every couple of years I manage to crawl out of my dungeon and rejoin the public world for a few hours. This time around the outing was very special as I visited one of my favorite local Las Vegas comic shops. Alternate Reality Comics hosted a lovely reception for me as the feature artist of their October 2012 Artist Spotlight.

If Comic Oasis is my home away from home, then Alternate Reality is my home away from my home away from home.
Neither of which I visit often enough.
YOUNG JUSTICE: CANCELLATIONWith this online art community, we have a unique opportunity to connect with our kindred. We must avail ourselves of this experience, for it may never come again.YOUNG JUSTICE: CANCELLATION3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Yes, YOUNG JUSTICE fans, the sad news is now official. This very popular show will -- Reach-- its abrupt and premature end with the conclusion of Season Two. It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the reports. Of course, none of us was able to say anything about it since last year. It was a very fun ride. As for the reasons behind the cancellation, I can only say that it was beyond the control of WB Animation, and that the decision was made by the powers at Cartoon Network (bless 'em). On behalf of the producers, and the rest of our dedicated crew at YOUNG JUSTICE, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the loyal fans who supported us, who shared the dream with us, and who will continue to love the YOUNG JUSTICE universe
A Shooting in AuroraLate last night, a lone gunman went on a killing spree in a movie theatre in Aurora, Colorado.A Shooting in Aurora3 years ago in Personal More Like This
At least 12 people were murdered, and many more were wounded; some of them are in critical condition.
If you are a spiritual person, please say a prayer for the dead, the dying, and those living touched by this tragedy.
If you are not a spiritual person, any happy thoughts or kind gestures would surely be appreciated.
Please refrain from any speculation, politicization, rumor-mongering, conclusion-jumping, finger-pointing, and other similarly inappropriate behavior for just a little while, if possible. It hasn't even been 12 hours since the tragedy took place, and that sort of unproductive demagoguery is already being handled nicely by the 24-hour news venues.
Real tragedies like this happen, all over the world, and our responsibility to our fellow man is to render aid & support, be it large or small, in times of crisis.

Holiday Card Project 2013Holiday Card Project 20132 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
It's back! With the goal of bringing a little cheer to patients in the hospital during the holiday season, the deviantART Holiday Card Project connects deviants from around the world and applies their tremendous artistic abilities in designing and creating uplifting holiday cards.
In past years, the Project has received more than 5,000 cards sent in by more than 1,000 deviants from 50 different countries/political regions. Cards were then divvied up and distributed in-person by deviantART members to local Los Angeles hospitals, with additional cards given to various hospitals in the U.S. and abroad for hospital staff members to hand out to patients.
The idea behind the Holiday Card Project is simple: do something nice for others. However, if you're looking for even more incentive, every deviant who submits a card will be given a free one-month Premium Membership to deviantA
Why The Hate?Just received an email tonight through my Heads Up Studios website which reads, "Wow, my kid can draw better than this! Is this the limit of your ability? As a real artist, I would be humiliated to have anyone look at my art if this was my art." The person left no name and no email. I'm not going to run to my room crying about it, but it's left me a bit steamed as to why the hate? I didn't force my website on this person. If it wasn't their cup of tea, then move on. To take the time to fill out a false name (What a joke artwork) and false email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and then to leave such a comment is irritating and confusing. I walk through artist alleys and see art I don't care for, but I'd never make it a point to go over and tell them personally. I respect the individual doing the art, even though I may not care for it.Why The Hate?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Anonymity on the internet breeds this sort of action, and speaks to the true nature of the individual.
This Just In...Just received word this morning that "Out To Lunch," my second art book, due out in August 2012, will include a picture-filled tour of the world-class Heads Up Studios'...uh, studio. This book will also contain brand new artwork, as well as a couple of short stories. This one will also be limited to only 50 copies. Unless I change my mind. Details on pre-orders will be coming in April, with all pre-orders receiving a complete set of Heads Up trading cards (over 300 cards!).

Secret to Success: Draw with your balls outHappy new ears my brothers and sisters. I hope you had a good break, but now its time to get back to work! And Ry here has a pro tip for you, something I have kept to myself but I think you as an artist should know about and adapt this habit. Its actually not that complicated, you should just always Draw with your balls out.Secret to Success: Draw with your balls out3 years ago in Personal More Like This
A wise man by the name of John Rambo once told us that we should 'Stay ballsy'. We should not let our fear overtake us, we should dive head in into obstacles and fight the demons without fear and without worries. Well I have taken that approach and incorporated it into my drawing, believe it or not I have never been confident about my artworks, even if it is something I spent 24 hours on I still have doubt whether its good enough to show or not, especially when it is for work and I know I am being judged on.. thats why it always takes so long for me to finish an art piece because I keep looking at it and try to fix stuff that probably no one would ever notic

We're sponsoring Artists' Alley 2012!
We're headed to Comic-Con International:
San Diego to sponsor Artists' Alley!
We Love Artists' Alley
We're back at Comic-Con!
Last year, our sponsorship of Artists' Alley was a huge success. We were able to provide a more comfortable environment for the artists, display their art on huge screens over the Alley, and let people attending the convention draw with deviantART muro on fantastic digital screens. We plan to do this and more in 2012 as we take on the great pleasure of sponsoring Artists' Alley at San Diego Comic-C
other stuff I doFINALLY! It's been a long time, but for those wondering what I've been doing all these months that I haven't been posting any new art, I have something to share.other stuff I do4 years ago in Personal More Like This
This is art (posted at BleedingCool.com) of Supergirl from my upcoming shorts "Super Best Friends Forever!!" scheduled to air for DC Nation on Cartoon Network.
I'll be sharing more very soon!
Comic-Con: Day 2Comic-Con Day 2 was all about cosplay, fandom, and art, art, art!Comic-Con: Day 23 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Before we get into the thick of things, we didn’t have a photo of our huge plasma screens hanging from the convention ceiling to share in our Day 1 recap, so we vowed to get that to you today! The 11 foot wide screens stream amazing works of art from Artists' Alley participants to the whole convention floor!
In Comic-Cons past, the foot traffic In Artists’ Alley got busier and busier as the week progressed, and this year is no exception. There’s something magical about speaking one-on-one with a deviant, learning their experiences, hearing how they started as an artist, and how far they’ve come. It’s an emotional connection to make with someone who was practically a stranger a few moments ago -- and then you realize you’re not really strangers when you

I wonder what they mean by 'new' Dr. Light... will it be Arthur? Will we see Kimiyo?
Given the new trend at DC to alter just about everyone beyond recognition, I think we'll definitely be seeing a variant of Arthur in March. Definitely keeping an eye out for any new information and maybe we'll get to see some preview art before too long...
