It was his own fault. He knew that. He just wished they knew it, too.
He couldn't move, couldn't speak, but he could hear. He heard everything they said.
They were worried.
He didn't want them to be. He didn't deserve it.
In fact, he wanted them to leave him alone to suffer. Then he could learn from his mistake.
Well, he wanted all of them to leave. All of them except...
Her. He wanted her to stay.
"Everyone, The League has other matters to attend to. Batman will...He'll be okay without us all hovering over him." Wonder Woman said.
Superman took in a deep breath as he reluctantly agreed. "Wonder Woman is right. Let's go, everyone."
With that, everyone began to file out of the infirmary. Everyone except...
She's still here. He could feel it. She must have read his mind by making everyone leave.
He wished he could smile.

Bruce Wayne walked into the room. "Going to Easter mass, Joseph?"
"Oh, look; you trying to be funny." Joseph sighed, "Zatanna wants me to walk with her in the Easter Parade Promenade in Robinson Park. I'm torn, we've been dating for a few months so it should be something we should do; be officially seen as a couple. On the other...I'm Jewish! Easter, for me, should be trying to find something on TV that doesn't make me reach for a matzah. That is truly the bread of affliction; it's an affliction to eat it." Joseph looked up at Bruce, "Speaking of which, thanks for holding the seder for another year."
"Well, it's good to learn about other cultures. Now I should get ready myself."
"Who's the lucky lady this year?"
"Vicki Vale; and Dick will be walking with Barbara." Bru
Oneshot: Sons Of WarThe rain always fell heavy in Gotham City, but on this day, it fell heavier and harder than it had in years. It hammered and drummed on the surface of so many black umbrellas, gathered in a cluster around the mohagony casket in solemn mourning.Oneshot: Sons Of War2 years ago in Drama More Like This
The coffin was small, too small for an adult, and this added to the deep sense of loss that lodged itself within the hearts of those present. Almost everyone had stepped forward already to pay their respects, then resumed position, heads bowed and hands folded. A few faces were cast down, rivers of tears running silent down their cheeks, while others were raised, dry but cold, pain shining brightly in their eyes.
"Alright, if there are no further--"
Then one figure stepped forward from among the gathered, leaving the relative dry sanctuary of the umbrellas and reaching out, pain and conflicting emotions playing across his face. Those surrounding the coffin stepped back, startled, and watched as Tim Drake's mouth twiste

"So far we've only dealt with a few muggers, an attempted murder and talked a woman away from suicide," continued Ronin giving Nightwing a quick glare.
"And I got her number," grinned Nightwing.
"Only you...." said Ronin, shaking his head as they swung down another urban canyon.
"At least Damian isn't here to ruin it," said Red Robin.
"Look here, angsty," said Ronin; he may be the newest member of the Bat Family but he was unafraid to speak his mind when needed. "Damian came back to life, had to readjust, and has had to deal with almost the same amount of shit you've been through. And that was before I came to Gotham. Bury the hatchet!"
"Don't worry, Ronin," smiled Nightwing. "He likes Damian, he just won't admit it."

Forging shadows in absence of warmth.
Dying of the Flame
Lightning races and breaks the giants grasp.
Graves of time beckon.

Their breathing rhythm echoes thunder, growing in the dark.
Crawling from the woods, bodies twist between foliage.
Hiding pretends my protection.
Speechless laughter leaves me still, hollow.
Bindings invade my mind.
Stripped of writing, the truths have gone.
Where he takes them I do not know.

When life gives you
Say thank you.
Because it could have been
A lot worse.
The thing about sour gumdrops
Is that beneath the sour,
Sure there's still
Those moments of bitterness,
There will always be,
But just look forward
To the delicious taste
Oh, and if life
Gives you something else,
Just give it back.
You've always seemed
Like a gumdrop kind of person

"What's happening EDI?" he asked staring out of the window.
"Miranda has been taken to the med bay." EDI chimed.
"What?" Shepard said leaping up. "When?"
"Twenty minutes ago." The AI stated.
"Thanks." Shepard said running to the elevator. He hoped that this was it. He didn't want it to be another false alarm; he didn't think his nerves could take it. The elevator seemed to be taking forever to reach the Crew Deck. Finally it reached Shepard's destination and he hurried out and into the med bay. The door opened to reveal Miranda lying on the bed, Dr.Chakwas and Mordin rushing round her.
"Shepard, I'm glad you're here," Dr.Chakwas said as he entered.
"Shepard?" Miranda breathed as he rushed to her.
"It's me, I'm here." he reassured her. He stood next to her

The look in her eyes was bleak as she glanced at him, her hands already working at the bun atop her head, letting the tresses fall and act like a curtain to hide her face as she strode to the elevator and disappeared behind its sliding doors. That wasn't like her. Debating with himself, he stood and started down the gangway in the direction she had taken.
His hands were sweating. Even wiping them on the seat of his pants didn't seem to help. He looked longingly back at hi

I notice the grimace
Hiding behind your smile.
I sift out the hurt
Masked by your laughter.
I observe the scared child
Within your adult shell,
From so very far away.
I creep, I peek,
I sneak, I listen,
And I love.

Once when we were
You spoke softly to me
And I knew then
That no one was there.
How can I have so many
When it hurts so much
To just look at you?
To just hear your voice?
It is as though we were
A part of some wonderful dream
That I have removed myself from,
But you are still
I suppose that it is just
Easier this way.
Easier to feel this anger,
When I am removed.
You can not really regret
If you take away all of the
All of the love.
But how are you still living there?
I can not seem to tell
If you are just oblivious,
Or if you never really cared at all.
I am trying desperately to believe
That you did at some point,
But I may just be lying
We all need lies sometimes.
We all need to feel like
Everything is okay,
But I can not keep going through
They are not getting us anywhere.
At that time,
You may have meant those magic words you said,
But I just can not accept them anymore

Oh how I would like
To touch you again,
Feel your breath on my neck again.
To wipe all of your tears away
And embrace you with all my might.
If your words were believable,
Born from pure feelings,
I would give you everything.
All that I have
And all that you could want.
But not freedom.
I can't give that to you.
Fate conspired to rob you of the sky,
And put you on display
For all to see.
I know that you could show me
But I was created to be free
And you were not.
What a bitter love we share.

So aptly did a majority blend with modern society; so easy were their disguised selves weaved within a typical town or district, but when congregated together, one could certainly determine which superhuman was which.
Along with those members of the team who did not venture into the open, such as Martian Manhunter and Red Tornado, the Justice League met at the Wayne estate. Arriving was as simple as materializing discreetly in the vicinity of Gotham; remaining inconspicuous, however, was another matter entirely. When the group finally convened, it was almost nightfall, and the
