Drawing tips - tutorialHello watchersDrawing tips - tutorial1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Some people ask me how I learned to draw and what tips I can give them! So I wrote a tutorial and hope it will help! Here are my tips for you to become a better drawer!
First of all a good drawing stands with good materials. Good paper (no copy paper) and good pencils. If you're not sure, the expensive ones are mostly pretty good! For graphite I use Staedtler Mars Lumograph and for colour Faber-Castell "Polycromos".You need to use different numbers of pencils: 4H for very light areas and 6B for the dark areas. A big contrast in a drawing makes a better drawing! You can't make a good drawing with one HB pencil. You need a 6B or 4B to create more depth in the drawing.Choose a good picture. The greatest drawer in the world can't make a good drawing from a bad picture. A high-resolution image is necessary to see all the details! Next to the high-resolution, it has to be an interesting picture. The result could be a beautiful drawing, however a boring image wouldn't attract a

Peterick Fanfiction links?:iconCeksie: 'Hey,Peterick Fanfiction links?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So basically, I got challenged by some friends to read as much peterick fan fiction as I can in the next month. Problem is, I never read fan fictions, and I just have no idea where to even start. I was hoping you could help me, since you've got a group set up and everything. If it's not too much to ask, I'd appreciate it if you could post a blog or something in which people could reply with links to some of the best-written peterick fan fictions they've read (or written) and I swear I will read each and every one of them. (I'll even review them if the person so wishes.) I don't have any guidelines regarding maturity rating or anything.
If you can help out, that would be so great!

Street Photography: To Lo And Behold!Street Photography Quiz:Street Photography: To Lo And Behold!2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
When was the last time a random passenger in a bus made your jaw drop?
Happens with me all the time!
Whenever I go out into the streets, I never plan on what I'm going to shoot, nor do I have a particular theme in mind.
Mind you, planning ahead is highly benefical to a Street Photographer or any photographer for that matter - a practice that almost always yeilds excellent results when properly utilized.
For me, it's just the sheer excitment of stepping into a vast concrete jungle, unsure about what's around the next corner, or perceiving an event that is about to unfold before you, the sound of your heart beating as you walk/run towards the developing scene - all the while hoping that you get there in time to take... that one shot, that ultimate payoff; is all that matters.
Sometimes you could be standing there observing a street scene when you begin to notice things falling into place; a photo opportunity forming right before your very eyes.

DD Suggestions: November:iconkendra-paige: Another month, another collection of beautiful artworks from talented users around the community. If you're looking for ways to give back to the community, then suggest fellow deviants for Daily Deviations to the appropriate Community Volunteer. In a community as large and diverse as DA, it can be hard to get noticed, so help shine a light on the talent you've come across and perhaps some kindness will return in kind.DD Suggestions: November2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
For those of you who are trying to get more exposure for your work, my advice is to be very mindful of which gallery you're placing your pieces in. Many deviations I've wanted to suggest I was unable to, because they were placed in the wrong galleries. Gaining exposure can be achieved in more ways than just DDs, comment and critique other's work and you will see a response in turn. Even featuring your watcher's artwork can be a great way of saying 'thanks!' Give a little and get a little, it's all about being an activ

"Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them.”
Basking in the glory of finally getting recognised for your hard efforts and photographic skill is pretty awesome and at the start of this week I took the opportunity to enjoy georgewjohnson's after he got published in a UK Photography Magazine. It's really nice when something like that happens and the knowledge that across the country - and because of deviantART and other networks - across the world, people are looking at your work. And if you're me, smiling! I once stumbled across lauren-rabbit's work in Black and White Photography Magazine and was truly proud that somebody I had found here on deviantART was here in my mag! So have you been published? Has your work received any recognition that makes you proud? What are your tips to getting out there and having your work showcased?
Art History - Anthro Anthro Art - The BeginningArt History - Anthro3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Anthropomorphism is the attribution of human characteristics and qualities to non-human beings, objects, natural, or supernatural phenomena. Gods, animals, the forces of nature, and unseen or unknown authors of chance are frequent subjects of anthropomorphosis. The term comes from two Greek words, άνθρωπος (anthrōpos), meaning "human," and μορφή (morphē), meaning "shape" or "form." The suffix "-ism" originates from the morpheme "-isma" in the Greek language. .
The actual 'date' when Anthropomorphic art came to light isn't well documented so we can only go off what has been left behind for us to observe. This is most noted in literature, sculptures and fables.
From the beginnings of human behavioral modernity in the Upper Paleolithic, about 40,000 years ago, examples of zoomorphic (animal
Project Educate: Being a People PersonSo you've got the equipment, you've got the top notch camera, the lighting, the studio, the backdrop and even the perfect weather - everything you need for a portrait photography shoot right? Wrong. The key behind all photographs that contain a living and breathing subject is to have the natural look. Just like the key to a conceptual shot is having the idea, the key to portraiture photography is having the eye. Co-operative subjects help too!Project Educate: Being a People Person2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
I have especially found in the past, that people develop a pained and strained look on their face when the camera is pointed in their direction. Interestingly enough, it happens more often at Weddings. The bride and groom quite often develop the look that they might have when they've just finished writing out the cheque for me to photograph their big day...
Then, quite suddenly one day, I got it. It was when a stunning bridesmaid at a wedding lifted her hands in front of her face and squealed when I clicked the camera in her
