Halloween–Valentines Mash–up Results to be Revealed.
The U.S. Government would like to thank all the deviants and deviant–adjacents who participated in the “great imagining” of what might be the windfalls and downfalls of this merging of holidays and assure them this was not just another thinly veiled McGuffin to distract the citizenry from the looming disaster on the immediate horizon. Here are your submissions!
Remember… when America has a crisis, you can depend on your Government to find the necessary spotlight challenge to address the situation. And you are certainly welcome!

She's on a vacation now, and every other day she wakes up before me and goes on our terrace/balcony, trying to get that perfect bronze tan.
I work late, so she usually lets me sleep an hour or two longer. Today was not that day.
- "Hey love, there's a puddle of water on the balcony. It seems that AC is leaking."
New quest available: Fix the leaking AC.
Identifying the problem.
For those of you not familiar with this type of air conditioner, it's a 4x3x1' box, hanging about 7 feet above the floor, with a hose going from it to the roof drain to remove excess condensate. I went to the terrace, looked at the puddle of water, briefly inspected the AC box, and saw that the hose fitting on the box was a bit lose and that it was probably the cause for the leakage. I've decided that it's not a huge issue, and that it can be fixed with some duct tape.
On to get some duct tape.
I know I had some. Somewhere.
Here? Nope, not here.
Objective-C deviantART SDKWe're happy to announce the release of version 1.0 of the Objective-C deviantART SDK. This SDK is a simple way to build great experiences using the deviantART API in your Mac or iOS apps.Objective-C deviantART SDK2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The SDK requires iOS7 or OS X 10.9 and provides several classes for you to use and interact with:
DVNTAPIClient - The core of the SDK. This class provides the OAuth2 management along with core network calls.
DVNTAPIRequest - Provides simple wrapper methods around all API deviantART endpoints. If you find any that are missing, feel free to open a pull request to add them.
For the fastest integration, we recommend you use CocoaPods to install the SDK within your project, then simply import DVNTAPI.h with your codebase. DVNTAPI.h imports all the required headers for the SDK to function.

She recently stepped down as a community volunteer, but her community spirit will always be inspirational, even though she might back away for a bit now.

Collaborative Deviations: A DiscussionCollaborative Deviations: A Discussion4 months ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
A common request from deviants is to post collaborative deviations, where more than one deviant has worked to create the end product. In our recent Top Community Feature Requests and Our Responses journal, we briefly addressed why we haven’t yet undertaken collaborative deviations. However, we want to open a discussion around how collaborations could theoretically work, so that we can better understand the community’s desires for such a feature.
Simple vs. Complex
We've already put a fair amount of thought into collaborations, but don't want to make assumptions about around how deviants would use the feature to best serve their needs. From simple to complex, there are a number of ways we could implement collaborations and we’re interested to hear the community’s expectations.

I'm jumping on the #WatchForever bandwagon and have compiled a list containing a few of my favorite deviants. The following artists are not only tremendously talented, but, having had the opportunity to meet a handful in real life, I can also attest that they're good people.
My years on DeviantArt have provided me a wealth of friendships I wouldn’t otherwise have had the opportunity to make. These friends have opened me up to different ideas, cultures, and points of view. I'm forever grateful to have talked with every deviant who has crossed my path — at a Deviant Meet, or even in a note, comment, or journal.

At the beginning of August I found myself at a hospital, diagnosed with gallstones. The only effective way of getting rid of them is to remove the whole gallbladder altogether. Unfortunately it quickly got much worse. I got a severe case of cholecystitis and developed a hydrocele. It was suspected that the inflammation started to spread to my peritoneum and liver. Even more unfortunately it didn't stop there. During all the medical examination I went through during the next few weeks it was discovered that everything was in fact caused by gallbladder cancer, which before was wrongly identified as inflamed tissue.
You can probably imagine how devastated I was after getting the news - after weeks of pain I got to know that I had cancer with extremely poor prognosis and had absolutely no money for a surgery.
Desperate I turned to my

But Is It Art?
Perhaps the eternally unanswerable question. But definitely something to chew on... When I first saw it, I was instantly captivated.
At first thought, what a brilliant example of modern pointillism! Has some unknown artist taken up the long abandoned banner of Georges Seurat and presented us with a new manifesto championing art as points of light illuminating our waking dreams?!

OK, I see now it’s not a painting at all, so my pointillism exuberance is dashed. It’s more likely one of those photo collages with thousands of small imag

I'll give you a generalised being from what I've seen/read/whatever (and you might learn some psychology from this also);
There's this guy, let's call him Terry- ok? This isn't someone I know, this isn't anyone you'll know, this is just a made up person called Terry who carries all of the opinions of all the people I'm talking/will talk about later on.
Now Terry likes Rock, Metal, Alternative, Screamo- all of that side of the genre. And in his life time he has either seen/experienced a lot of teasing for liking Rock and wearing black. So he's moderately angsty. These people usually like the other side- Pop, R and B, Rap, Hip Hop etc etc. He doesn't like those people, he won't listen to that 'crappy music'. He's heard of Sophie Lancaster (a young british woman who both she and her boyfriend were attacked for being goths- she died, her boyfriend lived), he has heard people calling his taste in music 'shit' etc.
So he associates t

New Jurassic Park FanFic idea.Just like the title says, I have come up with an idea for a new Jurassic Park fanfic.New Jurassic Park FanFic idea.1 month ago in Personal More Like This
The fanfic will be a large re-make of the fourth movie "Jurassic World" but will combined "Jurassic Park", "The Lost World", and "Jurassic Park ///" with it
Because of this, this will mean that this is an alternate story where Jurassic Park 1-3 never really happened (but like I said, I will combined the four movies together)
Now you may be wondering, if this fanfic is combining all four movies, does that mean characters from Jurassic Park 1-3 will appear? Well I'm happy to say the answer is Yes .
I will not give too much away on who they are cause I would like it to be a surprise.
I hope to get started on it this Friday. I already have most of it all planned out, but if anyone would like to help out, just talk to me through notes giving me ideas.
That's all I've got to say about it. Peace out peeps.
The Bang Bang ClubYou have to see this movie about war photographers called “The Bang Bang Club.” For photographers, it’s a near perfect experience. The Bang Bang Club4 years ago in Personal More Like This
The way photographers are shown in films follows the way in which any profession tends to be depicted in fiction - - usually as a caricature in a single dimension useful to the dramatic license taken out by the filmmaker.
The classic 1960 Federico Fellini movie “La Dolce Vita” introduced the paparazzi to the world stage and forever established a benchmark to the public’s perception of this type of news photographer as essentially a point and shoot automoton in the service of publicists. That view stuck no matter how brilliantly Weegee worked in this idiom with his sardonic exposures.
Here are Fellini’s paparazzi:

In late 2011, I was looking for a job and being really picky about it.
I wanted to be passionate about the product I was building.
I wanted the users of the product to be passionate about it.
I wanted my employers to be passionate about the product for reasons other than its ability to generate revenue. When I saw that deviantART was hiring developers, this is what I felt like:
deviantART was an amazing product that I could get really passionate about!
It had millions of great users who actively tried to make the site better.
So I submitted my resume..
The hiring process dragged on.. and on.. for 3 months.
Finally, in January 2012, mccann called to offer me the position.
My brain exploded into a bloodbath of rainbows and bunnies:
The first few months were challenging.
This job was totally outside my comfort zone
