First, I must apologize for the length of this thing. I had to split it into 2 parts 'cus it was too long. I wrote this a while ago, I just hadn't posted 'cus there aren't a lot of pics at first, and then there's a big clump where I talk about hair. ;/ I figure it's okay though, 'cus that's the hardest part. (Some of it may be a little confusing. I didn't re-read all of it.)

Let it be known, this is a slightly bigger sculpture than most of mine. I wanted it to be easy enough to see.

This was a commission I did. You can see the final product here: [link]

I also recommend two general clay tutorials:

My mom likes lighthouses and miniatures, so I made this as one of her Christmas presents.

(I don't have it anymore, obviously, so this is a rough guess....) The box is about 2 1/2" by 1 1/2" on top, and the bottle is about 3/4" long.

It's a lighthouse and boat with paddles on the beach. The paddles are kind of hard to see. (There are also footprints in the sand from the boat to the lighthouse, but you can't really see it here.) The lights on the lighthouse and on the box both glow in the dark.

I added the beads as an after-thought, thinking it would bring out the color of the water, but I think it did just the opposite. I filled that big blank spot on the box with a nice little golden bow. (I hadn't yet put the final finish on the box when these pics were taken.) I almost scrapped this and started all over. I was short on time and decided to try to fix it instead. I thought about adding a seagull or two, but I didn't want to mess it up again.

It's Near from Death Note holding a toy robot.

The first time I tried this, Kairi kept hanging on me and smooshed my robot after I'd almost finished it. ;/ And Near's hair was the biggest pain in the butt. I had to start over 3 times on that, and I kinda smooshed his arms and legs in the process. (He's got one leg kinda indian-style, the other one up like L's, one hand on his knee, the other on the robot. I know it's kinda hard to tell.)

The robot's head looks a little different in the bottle, 'cus it broke off when I was jamming him in there. The first time I glued it back on, it was all crooked. SO I had to rip it off, glue his eye back on, and get it to go on straight, which took a few tries.

Overall, I'm happy with it. I didn't glue the cork in like I usually do though, 'cus I was thinking about making Mello with some chocolate and throwing him in there too. Just a thought, I dunno if I'll get around to it....

Is this layout any better than the last one?
Are there any suggestions/requests for what I should do next?

It's Mello from Death Note. It took me a couple tries to get it right. For a commission, I was trying to recreate this: [link]

His hair's not quite as accurate. (I haven't sculpted in a while.) I turned his head to try to make it look more like he's hugging the chocolate. He's a little smaller than the other one too. (I realized after the fact that the bottle has a tiny crack in it, but it shouldn't be a problem really....)

I didn't take pics of this process, but I've been thinking about it, so is anyone interested in a tutorial on how I make these?

We had to force L (from Death Note) to take a bubble bath! ;D (It's more of a Near thing though, isn't it?) I took pics throughout the steps, so the one of the left is the final (with the nice smooth tub). ^_^ I did break some of L's hairs, so I think I should make the hair from the rubber Sculpey from now on. ;O

I wanted to paint the bathtub pearl, so I made the tub separate from L. He's crouching, holding his knee (as usual), and playing with the duck with the other hand. After painting the tub, I put L in and filled the tub with super glue (so it would look like water). It took a day and a half to dry. *dies* Then I added the ducks, then the bubbles. I have lots of pics throughout the whole thing. ^.^

Maybe I should've put the ducks in last though. I think they're drowning in bubbles. ;P

FIIIIIIIIIIIIINALLY!!!! *passes out*

This is for the 2nd place winner of the contest I held. This took SO stinking long! @_@ (It's just, she asked for a fox, and I know I can't do cartoon-ish animals, and a fox is one of the harder things to do as a realistic picture.) I had to apologize to the first place winner 'cus I put a tad more effort into this so I could have nice addition to my portfolio, (and it was really just the subject chosen that made it harder to do, and thus the desire to try harder).

Finding the reference pic was almost as hard as doing the pic itself. [link] Then I got the SHAPE of the box wrong, which threw off my whole pic, so my pic looks more like a close-up than anything. And it'll never be photo-realistic 'cus my colors were off and there's a lack of contrast. @_@ And I had a little problem with exceeding the limit, so I had to go back, get rid of my animation (though it made me sad to do so) and RE-DO a WHOLE bunch of the picture. >.> I know I still messed up a whole bunch of the picture (pretty much everything's off), but I'm so stinking tired of working on this. -_-;; Dumb fox....

L (a.k.a. Ryuzaki, a.k.a. Hideki Ryuga) from Death Note. He stole Misa's cell phone! ;O I'm actually kinda proud of this one. His head shape is a little off, and his hair is a little off, but I like him. ^.^ I also made a Light one, and a Ryuk one (that ended up being too big).

This is Rorschach (from Watchmen) for part of the first prize for :iconwatchmen-fanclub: 's contest: [link]

Give us some really cool entries so I won't feel so bad about giving this little guy up! ^_^ I INTEND TO MAIL THIS TO THE WINNER!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: It has been sent. ;D

---
I was originally going to do Rorschach shaking hands with Nite Owl, but I'm a little out of practice and thought I'd screw it up, so half-way through I switched to this. I was having some trouble with the scale too, so he came out looking more like a bobble head. Oh well, I'll do better on the next one.

It's kinda hard to see, but behind him is a trash can, lid, bag of trash, and Walter's sign.

Download for super up-close view.

It's L from Death Note taking a bath. It's re-make of my old one for commission. Maybe I should add more bubbles?
