18 Facts That Prove Guns Make Us SaferMichael Snyder from The American Dream provides 18 Little-Known Gun Facts That Prove That Guns Make Us Safer. (WARNING: If you support gun control and do not wish to have your anti-gun narrative contradicted, do not proceed to read this list.):#1 Over the past 20 years, gun sales have absolutely exploded, but homicides with firearms are down 39 percent during that time and "other crimes with firearms" are down 69 percent.18 Facts That Prove Guns Make Us Safer1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Here's another statistic for your anti-gun control arsenal: gun deaths are 49 percent lower than they were 20 years ago.National rates of gun homicide and other violent gun crimes are strikingly lower now than during their peak in the mid-1990s, paralleling a general decline in violent crime, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of government data. Beneath the long-term trend, though, are big differences by decade: Violence plunged through the 1990s, but has declined less dramatically since 2000.
Compared with 1993, the peak of U.S. gun homicides, the firearm homicide rate was 49% lower in 2010, and there were fewer deaths, even though the nation's population grew. The victimization rate for other v

Stupid Anti-Gun MemesFollowing the defeat of anti-gun legislation in the Senate, the left-wing blogosphere has exploded with face-palmingly stupid anti-gun memes. I spent most of last night scrolling through these memes on Tumblr, and I've decided to vent my frustration with them by debunking them one by one:Stupid Anti-Gun Memes2 years ago in Personal More Like This
This is the most prominent meme, and as with most other gun control arguments (as well as any argument for limited rights), it relies on the "think of the children" mentality.
This is simply a false equivalency. First of all, kids play with Kinder Eggs, they do not play with guns. Second, Kinder eggs are a direct threat to children, as they contain small toys they could easily choke on, while a gun is an indirect threat to children, as some maniac could easily shoot them with it. Not everyone who owns a gun wan

r/politics And How Libtards ProjectFor those fortunate enough never to have ventured onto reddit, r/politics is the main subreddit for discussing all things political. As such, the subreddit hosts a wide variety of political views from left-of-center to far-left-of-center to "OMFG! not even Stalin was that far-left-of-center!" As for anything slightly right-of-center, it gets downvoted into oblivion faster than you can say "Holy Confirmation Bias, Batman!"r/politics And How Libtards Project2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So as you can probably guess, the lion's share of the subreddit consists of articles from such "reliable" and "unbiased" sources as the Huffington Post, Daily Kos, Media Matters, and Think Progress. Again, anything slightly to the right-of-center gets downvoted into non-existence. After all, reality has a well-known liberal bias! (Or is it that liberals have a well-known reality bias? I can't tell anymore.)
With such an obvious political slant, making the subreddit a left-wing echo
Page Views - What Do They Really Mean?Page ViewsPage Views - What Do They Really Mean?4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Page views are a huge talk on deviantART. For many they represent who they follow, who they talk with, and even who they are willing to be friends with.
As of January 5, 2011, I removed viewing page views from my page and on others.
I replaced it with a message that said:
"Page Views - You may notice that I don't view page views. Not only was my page view count once destroyed by a bot, but I have come to realize page views should not represent the face of a deviant. Who they are as a person and an artist should.
As of January 5, 2011, I will no longer be paying attention to my own page views, and in addition I have vowed not to follow deviants based on page views, but instead based on ability and personality.
At that point I had 315,730 Page Views.
But I thought I would take this as a chance to write a little something about page views as well.
Earlier in the day, I spoke to PurpelBlur, and he told me:
"Is 100,000 views too seen? Doesn

A while back, I had the pleasure of illustrating this wonderful childrens book, "Leisl & Po" by Lauren Oliver. Its finally in stores and now I can show you some of the art inside. It is a unique story about a girl, who is visited by a ghost that tells her her dead father is stuck on Limbo and that only she can help him cross over...
I heard the book has been getting alot of praise from the children's book industry, and I am just happy and proud to be a part of it.

orld War I (1914-1918) was a human catastrophe
that devastated Western civilization and mocked the hope inherent in “modernism”. The sheer volume of the war’s slaughter was beyond belief. The horror of it all destroyed the trust in science, medicine and technology as the golden gateway to a harmonious and peaceful future for humanity. All that was thought to be good had been twisted to the evil purpose of a global war. A global sense of hopefulness was replaced with a global sense of fear and loathing.

Jon Stewart Wrong On GunsJon Stewart tends to be right about many things. Gun control isn't one of them.Jon Stewart Wrong On Guns2 years ago in Personal More Like This
As with most other liberal media pundits, Stewart has lamented the Senate's defeat of stricter gun legislation. The people in our country who've spent millions of dollars getting elected into a legislative body known as the Senate are making the argument "there's really no point in making laws because criminals are just going to end up breaking them."Stewart is a smart man, probably the smartest in the media. I know he is smarter than this. He knows that stricter security measures have done nothing to prevent terrorist attacks. He knows that stricter drug laws have done squat to prevent drug trafficking. But yet he cannot seem to apply this same logic to guns. If the "War on Terror" hasn't prevented terrorism, and the "War on Drugs" hasn't prevented drug use, what makes him think a "War on Guns" is going to prevent gun violence?

Conservatives Strike Out Again!I was watching the news last night, and saw a Conservative judge do something no free, thinking society would ever allow- And this wasn't even in Canada.Conservatives Strike Out Again!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
There was a judge in the US, who, on the basis of religion, ordered a family who had named their kid "Messiah" to change that name. In her own words, "There is only one person in all of history who has earned that title- Jesus Christ (Our Lord and Saviour)".
Now, I have multiple issues with this ruling, and it's for good reason that this judge is being appealed against.
The idea of liberty is that you can be free to express yourself (which the parents did in naming the child) as long as it doesn't inspire hate or discredit anyone (which it really didn't) And the next part is that all judges and juries are to be impartial- And this judge acted on her own beliefs, with the excuse that there "was an overwhelming Christian majority".
Oh, yeah? Then prove it!
And another issue is that not all Christains are hugely upset as an issue as mund
