Don't Take AbuseI don't know how much of an issue this is here, but just in case it is I think it's important to give some information and encouragement. I saw a recent post by The Thinking Atheist about a 17 year old who was outed as being an atheist to Christian parents. Since I don't have permission to post their story here, and it's pretty personal, I will just say check out The Thinking Atheist facebook page for details, but essentially this lead to both physical and emotional abuse by a rather intense religious father. This is by no means an isolated incident, for teens or young people still dependent on religious parents, coming out as nonChristian or nonreligious can be a real risk. Everything from abuse to being kicked out on the street to losing college funding or other financial stability, as well as the obvious risk of emotional turmoil amongst family. When previous safe havens like church suddenly aren't an option, and religious friends might turn their back, it can be very isolatingDon't Take Abuse2 years ago in Personal More Like This

T for Tolerance and ResponseHave you seen this video yet? Some people are just... Ugh. Yeah. Anyway, I figured I'd give a whack at making a response video. I don't typically do these, because I always get in trouble by youtube because I suck and utilize pictures that I probably shouldn't, but anyway, here it is:T for Tolerance and Response2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Just so you know, yes, I know I fudged up the scale, it's well past midnight and I'm too lazy to go back and fix it so I threw an annotation on top of it and a mention in the description.
Also, please excuse my weird crackly voice and lack of a decent microphone.
Lemme know what you think... I'll include the words below.
Listen up you teenaged great ape;
Just coz you claim not to hate
Doesn't mean you're not hating, okay mate?
What gives you the right to dictate
Which type of paths that people should take?
You look seventeen, you're hardly awake.
How can you back up those words that you spake?
"I can't dictate one's life and who they call soulmate?"
You totally are, Give me a break!

orld War I (1914-1918) was a human catastrophe
that devastated Western civilization and mocked the hope inherent in “modernism”. The sheer volume of the war’s slaughter was beyond belief. The horror of it all destroyed the trust in science, medicine and technology as the golden gateway to a harmonious and peaceful future for humanity. All that was thought to be good had been twisted to the evil purpose of a global war. A global sense of hopefulness was replaced with a global sense of fear and loathing.

I made those two stamps to hopefully get across the point of what it really means to be a Goth. I am a Goth. I'm actually a lot of things, including an old school Metal Head, Artist, Writer, Book Hound, Intellectual, Pagan, and other things. Goth is just one of the things I am which happens to encompass a fair number of the others as well, given the actualities of BEING a Goth. But what IS a Goth and how does someone KNOW they are a Goth? How does one identify a Goth? Well, there is one person I came across that has answered those questions fairly well, and I shall share with you some of what Azhram has said with a few of my own thoughts in addition. Feel free to poke at the rest of her little essay to find out more.
What is a Goth?
If most (10 or more) of the following statements are true, it is VERY likely that you are Goth. If

A Pop Culture Interpretation of The Supernatural
Every culture around the world created gods and other mythical beings by mixing and matching fanged and taloned animal parts—e.g., enormous eagle heads on lions’ bodies—human beings have always seemed to need to believe there are powerful and usually quite vengeful supernatural beings lurking just beyond the candlelight.
Supernatural beings come to serve several purposes:
They kept people on the lighted path of truth and goodness, fearful of exploring beyond;
They were a reminder of the punishment we deser

Spider-Man villain psyche profile thesisWrote these while back on Spider-Man's villains way back. I was always fascinated by the iconic rogues gallery from Batman, Spider-Man and Flash. Both Flash and Batman have had their rogues examined throughly but I always found Spider-Man's rogues hardly explored save for the popular villains of Osborn, Brock and Doctor Octopus. Heres my comparison exploration of Electro and Doc Ock and second being Rhino and Sandman's comparison on origin and how the four's persona correlate.Spider-Man villain psyche profile thesis2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Max Dillon had a rough childhood. One of the classic screwed up ones. Like Doc Ock, his father was abusive and a controlling mother. His Mother however, wouldn't let him leave her once his father walked out on them. Max spent many years with her until she died. She'd always been telling Max never to abandon her, and in the end Max tells us she was the one to abandon him. Often undercut the Electro's attempts at independence and left him without a clear sense of self. She repeatedly told him he was wonderful while

The boy you punched in the hall today, committed suicide a few minutes ago.
That girl you called a slut in class today, she's a virgin.
The boy you called lame, he has to work every night to support his family.
That girl you pushed down the other day is already being abused at home.
You think you know them.
Guess what, YOU DON'T!
Re-post if you are against bullying.
I bet 99% of you won't.
Re-post this if you're that 1% who will take a step to bring awareness.

Tracing gets you nowhere.I remember when I was a kid, I'd record Saturday morning cartoons, play them back, pause the image, put a piece of paper over the screen and trace my favourite characters.Tracing gets you nowhere.5 months ago in Personal More Like This
Now this was really hard in the VHS era, because a paused image on a VHS is usually either broken up or shakes so much that you’ll have some kind of fit if you look at it too long, it depended on how cheap and sh*tty your machine was.
But I worked really hard at it, man. I spent ages getting the linework just right, I was so careful, and when I peeled the page from the static cling of the bulbous, cathode ray tube screen, the character looked exactly right on the page. And you wanna know what I took away from that endeavour? What all that effort taught me?
Jack f**king sh*t.
You don’t pick up or develop any skills by tracing. You don’t devise and perfect your own methods by tracing. You do not progress as an artist by tracing. All you get is a loss of credibility, especially in this day and age, bec
How to make your very own Helix Fossil PillowThese are INSTRUCTIONS on how to make a Helix Fossil Pillow like the one below. It is not a tutorial and I do not have pictures of the process because I didn't think of it when I was making it, and I'm not going to make another. You will need some previous knowledge of sewing to follow these instructions. I am absolutely not going to teach people to sew - there are lots of resources on the internet if that's what you want. I might add a doodled example pattern later, but that's pretty much all the help you'll get!How to make your very own Helix Fossil Pillow1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Halloween entertainment… or invitation to evil?
Grimoire 2 by AndrewDobell
We all know from the movies that a vampire can’t cross over the threshold into one’s home without being invited. And yet simply knowing that Dracula can be held at bay so easily makes issuing that invitation all the more irresistible. Could such things as supernatural beings actually be real? And could there be ways for we mere mortals to have the power to evoke them into existence or dismiss them as we might pleas

What's your theory of it all? Is the latest image "it's all in your mind" mean that all animatronics are in someone's imagination/nightmare? It does make sense since all locations looked dilapidated.
Apparently I've seen some comments that Scott says it "will take some miracles" to make FNAF4. (I haven't seen Scott's original comments, though)

A Warning in Another’s Eyes
Stop and Stare
Staring is not the same as intently gazing into another person’s eyes as a manner of communication.
That can be a quite pleasurable experience. Staring into another’ eyes too often presages the delivery of a warning or very bad news. The fixed stare is the facial equivalent of a flashing amber light, indicating you should proceed but only with great caution. Keep that in mind as you peruse t

Alice in Wonderland
Published in 1865, Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is celebrating its 150th Anniversary this year.
Alice has been quite busy during that time. She’s had her story adapted into several movies, TV shows, ballets, plays, operas, and theme park attractions. Her trip to Wonderland is quite well known around the world. What is less well known is Lewis Carroll’s (whose real name was Charles
