tigaer-design.com proudly presents: stellar dreams - tannhauser gate

this time inspired by the movie 'blade runner'. there's this wonderful ending sequence - people that know the movie surely know what i mean. the pic is based on a little speech that one of the characters speaks at the end of the movie.

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe: attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain... Time to die."

one of 'these' moments in movie making history. i love it.

i don't know if there is a region in space that is called tannhauser gate. my search in the net was not successful. so to all you space scientists... if you ever discover a gate-like nebula or nova, then call it tannhauser gate! it's such an impressive name.

what you see here represents one of my hardest works ever.

made with // photoshop cs
working time // ca. 25 hours
total filesize // *.psd with a res. of 4500x3000 (made for print) -> ca. 300mb
total layers // ca. 137
inspired by // blade runner
technique // 50% texturing (with own photography) and 50% handmade within photoshop.

UPDATED PICTURE - removed several faults and touched up a few more things.
don't think that you'll see 'what' ;) - the print has also been updated to deliver best possible quality.

UPDATE #2 - reworked a lightbeam that looked a bit strange and again removed some fault inside the pic. no further changes planned... expect this to be the absolut final version. print has been updated too.

UPDATE #3 - lustre print update and panorama print available

enough talk - happy viewing...

PS: thanks ~Blade707 for your little gift. :) // print available // my apologies for the large filesize. // wallpaper pack [link]

tigaer-design.com proudly presents: terragen - pulsar dawn (evolution)

D³SCR!PTION

in a distant future mankind spreaded seeds into the farthest regions of space... regions that need hundreds of years to travel, even on a such high technological level. mankind discovered forces, in the depths of space that, a few decades before, no one even tried to imagine. colonies, built for the simple purpose to do science, may soon discover how to master the mightiest of all forces... a black hole. outpost 2031, also called 'dawn', on planet amergine started terraforming almost exactly 400 years ago. the atmosphere, flora and fauna started to progress well recently and soon people may be able to spread out over the whole surface. there are hundreds of towers on different locations all over the planet.

races that will discover the ruins of these towers... 20.000 years in the future will guess what happened to the 'elder' kind. yes, they will call us 'the elder'... we were the first... out there. soon this race will understand what happened. old data was found... luckily reestablished. planet amergine lies peacefully in a huge stellar dust cloud called 'the elegy'. in the center of that cloud lies a pulsar. a dead star, once a majestic sparkling sun. 'the elder' settled here to find out how to use the mighty gravity forces that surround such a pulsar. maybe they found out how to use the mightiest force of all. maybe they traveled into another dimension. nobody knows what happened to them... all that is left are the ancient ruins of a presence that left a long time ago.

ps: this is science-fiction. 'fiction'. don't be confused with the story... the story just continues what the pic shows. what you see is still the era of men.

TECHN!CAL DETA!LS

the render to that pic was made in the last days of 2004. at first i wasn't sure if i could use the render at all. i tried various things... implented this and that... and at first it hasn't looked very inviting to do further work on it. however... i did further work and now see what came out. the result is one of my most ambitious manipulation works ever. countless (not really ;)) layers and folders within the psd file. i do myself hard to name it 'terragen' since almost everything is manipulated in that piece. the only things that come from terragen are the rays. all the other stuff is own photography... textures... or self built stuff like the structures. the structures are completely photoshop. some might think i used a 3d software... but no. the buildings were also the hardest to realize. some of you might remember 'terragen - dilektium'... where i first tried to implement a bulding. i found that it looked ok and so i tried to take the next step in this piece. i knew, when i started the building work, that this must be a piece that tops everything i did before. now i'm not sure if it does so with the look... but technically it really tops everything i did before. i wanted a truly EPIC look and i also took the time to invent a little story thet simply explains the feelings i had while creating this piece. 'the elegy' - the dust cloud i talked about in the story - may be an element for me to try in a future space art piece... but that'll time show.

songs i can only advise here are listed in the stats. lisa gerrard is a female singer that even worked with hans zimmer on the gladiator soundtrack. in my eyes one of the best soundtracks ever made in movie history. a deep mystical voice followed by sounds that perfectly describe the emotions in 'pulsar dawn'.

*boyaka & ^tigaer proudly present: "We Create Worlds"

so this is it. the finished collab between *boyaka and me. my part of the collab maybe known already, but the part added by *boyaka makes it even more outstanding. i must say i'm really proud of our little baby and i'm sure the viewers will have pleasure looking at this great piece.

while *boyaka did the space part, i made the landscape part. i finished first and gave my part to *boyaka and he stitched it together and made it look seamless. well done.

alright.

//update aug.22.04

after permission from *boyaka i offer this work now as print.

tigaer-design.com proudly presents: terragen - the journey to the house at the end of the world

i got the idea of the title while working on this pic. the title leans on a book i have finished reading the last days: the redemption of althalus by david & leigh eddings. very good book, like it a lot. the pic itself developed while working on a different pic. while trying different methods, texturing etc etc i discovered an idea and the result can be seen here. it could be possible that some, not much, elements of the pic can be seen in my upcoming piece too - if i ever finish it, will be another challenge for me.

what i love on this pic is the intense deep atmosphere. it might appear too dark - but that's intended. what you see behind the trees is the end of the world... at least for the eye. :) not the end in an apocalyptic way... just the end of earth, for someone who thinks the earth is a disc or so. :)

(FULLVIEW to dive into the atmosphere)

ps: pic is not made for a realistic as possible look... it's a fantasy pic.

tigaer-design.com proudly presents: 3DA - Where Is My Mind (original version)

description, technical details and wallpaper of different resolutions can be found here: [link]

the file we have here was the original i created. from this one i created the wallpaper pack.

happy viewing... :)

ps: i recognized a lot of comments that complained about the cloud thing i used to get some atmosphere into it. a lot of deviants said that it looks cheap because i may have used just the clouds filter in photoshop to create it. but actually NO ONE thought that this look might be 'intended'?! i recognized that, when it comes to 3d abstract, everything seems to rise and fall with the technique. maybe i'm the only person in this galaxy that likes 3d abstract because of the look...? you actually have no choice - to moan about the technique in 3d abstract is idiotic since there are sooooo maaaanyyyy different kinds of them. i know no other genre of digital art that has so many different techniques. so i want to make an appeal to everyone - before you comment, just 'look' at the piece. if the 'look' is right... why complaining about the technique?

thank you.

*alyn & *hypnotic & *Mr-Frenzy & ^tigaer present: throne to the stars

this piece introduces a 4th person into the collab - *Mr-Frenzy. i PROMISE this will be the last piece based on the collab project! ;) but i had to do it... because the castle/fortress i implemented needed more attention from my point if view. in the originals it didn't get the attention... so i created this piece and i'm very happy about it.

*alyn's part was the space, except the planet on the left.
*hypnotic delivered the terragen [link] base part to work on.
*Mr-Frenzy gave me permission to use one of his resource [link] planets.

give these guys a watch!!!

the actual final collab can be found here: [link]
a wallpaper pack can be found here: [link]
the landscape (wallpaper) without *alyn 's necessary land/space transitions can be found here: [link]

my... that's a lot isn't it :)

so this closes the project.

tigaer-design.com proudly presents: stellar dreams - close your eyes, pick a star (let's travel there...)

INCL. WALLPAPER PACK

D³SCR!PTION

My last space art try lies a bit back and i felt i needed to try it again. I thought about a new pic quite some time... months to be accurate. I thought about what i could create. How the setup should be. What elements i should implement. Gods adagio [link] , my last space work, got some nice feedback and i tried to take out all suggestions what to make better. I found that the overall coloring was quite chaotic in gods adagio... though it's an important element of the pic because if offers so many color combinations that the eye seems to be busy for ever to get the whole spectrum and complexity lol. But it's too much really. i tried to change that with my new pic. i tried a more peaceful nebula. Still with strong colors that can catch the eye... but very balanced and not too chaotic. I also refined my skills in planet creation a bit more. All in all a training piece in space art for me. With a very pleasing result to me...

TECHN!CAL DETA!LS

Technically is not much to say. Everything was created with photoshop. For the nebula elements i used photography and manipulated it to get the desired look. Space works are always the hardest to work with for me. The psd files always get overnatural heavy and it's very hard to get a fluid workflow.

STATS

createded with // photoshop cs, canon 20d photography
creative process time // over a period of 4 weeks (ca. 28 hours)
total filesize // *.psd with a res. of 3000x4500 -> 457mb
total layers // about 110
inspired by // `hameed - `alyn - ~ sirgerg

The wallpaper pack contains 5 different wps in 1600x1200 (each has about 1mb). Plus the deviation picture. The reason for the large 1600x1200 res is easy... it's the most compatible resolution to easily downsize to 1280x960 / 1024x768 / 800x600. The wallpaper pack is almost 10mb large. I'm sorry for that... quality counts.

Enough of this... i wish happy viewing... :)

tigaer-design.com proudly presents: terragen - genesis

D³SCR!PTION

this is a picture i had in mind quite a time now. like gleisshammer i got the idea almost a year ago. a pure sea scenery with wonderful warm colors. a picture you can look at with a wish to be there. the feel the sun on your skin and the soft winds striding through your hairs.

TECHN!CAL DETA!LS

the basic pic i used here was rendered 3 times. everytime with different settings. i blended them in photoshop and deleted all stuff i didn't need for the actual pic. since all is water it damn took a while to get the pics rendered. in photoshop i added fog, sunbeams and stars for the sky. also some clouds that i laid over to creat a more intense feeling of depth. you'll notice that, where the sun is set over the horizon, we have a straight line. right in the middle of the haze - that's actually because the suns heat paved a way through the atmosphere and vaporized the fog/haze in that area. that gives a 'gate' like look i really like in this piece. in the end it's a simple piece that focus lies on colors and composition... :)

NOT MEANT TO LOOK LIKE A REALITY SIMULATION - IT's FANTASY! ;)
