A brief history of deviantART
Angelo Sotira helped pioneer deviantART after the internet's "boom days" with Scott Jarkoff and Matt Stephens. Scott ensured that deviantART functioned code-wise and community-wise, Matt focused on making sure that the world knew about what promise deviantART offered to aspiring artists, and Angelo covered the legal and some techinical bases, including directing the business concerns of deviantART as a company.
As with any venture, there were the "usual" hiccups, though it's debatable whether anything about deviantART or how it came about can be considered "usual". The founders and the site weathered the storms that hit, and because of the initial and continued dedication of Scott and Angelo, along with the rest of the core developers and volunteer staff, deviantART continues to function, evolving continually to meet the demands of artists, exponential increases in deviations (and consequently necessary space) and operating costs, along with dozens

By the Gods! snapped Helen, standing resplendent in the middle of the battlefield, will noone ask me whether I want to go back or not? Even though Im the one being fought over, no one even tries to ask my opinion about it!
The two rival armies had come to a halt on either side of the legendary beauty, gaping at her in amazement. Menelaus was standing at the head of his army, holding an unsheathed sword, with his mouth hanging open, looking utterly stupid, as his slow brain tried to figure out why his wife was behaving like that. From the time he had known her, she had always been so meek and obedient, always listening to him and giving him whatever he asked for. Now she was a veritable lioness, standing there roaring away loudly enough to scare the hair off a man.
Now that she had grabbed everyones attention, Helen cleared her throat and continued none too mildly

The man - he had introduced himself as Edward Carter - twisted a machine-pressed felt hat between calloused hands.
"Well, I run a warehouse in the West India docks for a Mister Hibberd," he began, and grimaced, his pale brow furrowing beneath lank, age-bleached hair. "Top gent. But... There's somethin' tha's not right."
Oil-stained fingernails bit into his hat's brim, and he wet his lips.
"The foreman - he's walked out on me. An' I can't get lightermen in for love nor money. It's me engineer..." The felt hat audibly complained at his attentions. "He's gone a bit... I think he's blown a valve - if you'll excuse the expression."
He paused, and glanced anxiously about the room. Though I doubt he found much comfort there; my study was sparsely decorated at best. His eyes paused on my coat stand, before wandering idly over my desk, and finally, relucta
The TempoA while back a colleague of mine brought up in a conversation that somewhere in the world someone dies with every second that passes by. On the other side of that coin, he said, every second someone is born. He said it so matter-of-factly, as though it made perfect sense that there be some sort of universal scale of grief and happiness, life and death. I dont know for sure that what he said was true, but today theres two particular seconds I cant seem to get off my mind. The Tempo8 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
I used to have this business associate by the name of James Silver. He was pretty young to be as far along as he was. I cant honestly say that he had much of a life outside of his work, at least not that I knew about. Of course you could see him out occasionally, maybe having lunch with friends or partners, and possibly every once in a while it would be a woman. But men like James simply did not have time for a personal life. Guys like him were driven to succeed, maybe by their own will or volit

That which is harmful and
That which I use to harm myself.
I take delight in your smile.
So rare, I live
From one moment to the next,
Craving it like an addict because,
Though I receive few,
When I do my world ignites.
I take knowledge in your words.
So quiet, yet when you speak
You move mountains
With your knowledge and wit
And console me when
All I want to do is die inside.
I take pleasure in your touch.
So sure, your hands roam
Where no one is allowed
And take me to places
I have never been before
And I am content to let you.
I take room in your heart.
So fragile, it has been
So I tiptoe through it
And find room there for
My own to reside.
I take all of you.
Because you offer yourself to me freely.
Without fear or expectations.
You shelter me inside you
Until I want nothing else
Than to be taken by you.

It has been a year since Ty Lee and I had met and started to train together I didn't think it was possible for our bond to get any closer but I was proved to be wrong one night. It started out on a late night during a full moon we were just about to start a long training session between the two of us but something wasn't right. Ty Lee seemed to be lacking today and her mood wasn't as happy as what I was usually use too, she had me worried but she assured me that she was fine just tired. She asked if she could cut down on training for tonight and head to bed early which I agreed with because I didn't want her to exert herself. I had watched as she walked away her steps seemed very droopy and her feet slightly dragged something wasn't right but I figured she'd tell me in her own time when she was ready too. I had trained a little longer than what I would usually do but I just felt the need to get some stuff off my mind.

Its been three years since the fall of Ba Sing Se. I took over the city from the inside out. My father had every confidence that at the age of 14, I could accomplish what so many great Fire Nation generals before me could not. And so for the first time, I left the Fire Nation. While leading an invasion with a small but elite force, I managed to take over several key outer Earth Kingdom cities, such as Omashu. But it was a battle against a group of highly skilled female warriors hailing from Kyoshi Island, that inspired me to go about my mission in a much more unorthodox way. After all, there was a reason Ba Sing Se couldnt be taken over with brute force. The outer and inner walls made it nearly impossible. And the earthbenders guarding the outer wall had completely destroyed the drill we tried to use to penetrate it.
I recruited two of my closest allies,

Chapter 35 - Back Again

The morning rays peeked in through Katara's bedroom shades, tickling at her eyes. Her right shoulder was heavy, pinned down. The weight, as it turned out, happened to be a fuzzy orange ball, attached to a skinny, breathing stick of a girl. Katara laughed through her nostrils, wary of moving and causing Jane to wake. When had that happened? Katara had been joking about the 'cuddly' thing, and Jane had seemed rather uneasy about physical contact the night before. Katar

There are times to be in love and certain people to be in love with. Well now certainly wasnt the right time, and the person definitely was the wrong kind person. Still she couldnt make herself stop, it was like asking her heart to stop beating. It was simply impossible.
She didnt know the specific time this all started, it just short of happened. She could name a general area of when this infatuation had been sparked. It was a single name, Omashu. The first time her eyes had come across a girl most alluring than anyone in the entire world, and sadly that was an understatement.
She heard about stuff like this happening but only in fairy tales. For most her life she thought love at first sight was just something people made up. Little did she know she would be lucky enough to experience it. It sure was by far something magical and there was no explanation for it. She had no real reason to fall madly in love with this stranger, her enemy of all people, those feel

A/N: There's definitely some YouTube vids that get watched partway through the chapter. I'd take note and actually watch/listen to the second one referred to, at least, even if (perhaps especially if) you are familiar with the radio edit of said song, as the important element of the scene is the difference between recorded, edited music and raw, live performance.
I appreciate your support, please keep it coming - it's what fuels me to go on! In the meantime, I hope you enjoy another fluffy, "filler-ish" chapter. I always try to make sure no scene - no matter how seemingly insignificant - is without some kind of character development, but I have come to appreciate that sometimes readers need a release of tension and that "fluffy" chapters can have their place in long, drawn out stories like this one. Decided I'd just run with dialogue this time instead of trying to weight it down w/too much description and such, we'll see how that turned out.

- Saturday, September 18th, 2010 -
[Hey, where are you guys? We're about to start things here but we haven't heard from you. Are you not coming?]
"Katara, you playing?"
"Oh!" Katara slapped her phone shut and nodded. "Yea, yea. I am."
"Well, git over here, then!" Sokka insisted with a wave of the arm. Katara sighed deeply, her concern for her friend having been spiked up sharply since she had last seen Jane huddled on her bed the other day.
She sat down at the wooden table, Aang to her left, Sokka and Suki across from her, and Toph on the tables narrow side between Aang and Suki. A small pile of red cards had already been laid at her chair. Apples to Apples was a curious card game that Toph couldn't play, of course, but enjoyed spectating. Sometimes the group would alter the rules a bit and have Toph judge the winner of every round, but she wasn't up for it this time, it seemed, preferring to lay her

Mirrors Edge: Faith as a Revolutionary Character.
In the past, console video games were scrutinized as being a male-only kind of activity, with game characters like Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider series and Ivy from the Soul Calibur series representing what game developers thought of their gaming consumer audience: mostly male players. The existing male-only stereotype and the overly enticing and exotic female character design models produced a cycle that pushed and discouraged many women gamers into a minority population among the gamer population. Like overly muscle-developed men, really enticing women characters became a no
