Nvidia card users importanthdmi usersNvidia card users important2 years ago in Personal More Like This
People i just discovered why i couldnt get true blacks on my cintiqs, or other monitors, blaming led technology. But envidia was the problem at fault.
Color value are from 0 to 255, i mean from black to white, thats good for photoedition, but real bad for games.
Nvidia cards were built for been in video games, so they dont use those values, they use from 16- 235, so you are skipping the most crucial colors for coloring, but for editing it will SUCK.
So i had found a great web page, with a little software for pc users, that you run it and restart and you get solid blacks, this had made my callibration so easy, it was the graphic card the problem.
Just download the program, unzip it, execute it, and choose from 1 to 255 values, restart and its done.
If you dont like it you can revert it by clicking again the other option.
Corel painter works incredible with those values. You notice this more if you have your monitor connected in hdmi mode.
Commissions Open AlwaysEven though I have unlimited slots, you must be willing to be PATIENT. I have a list, but I tend to do the commissions that interest me the most first, though I do my best to go via who paid first or has been waiting the longest.Commissions Open Always1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I have the right to increase the price of the commission if I feel like what was requested is more work than the base price listed.
I will draw
Couples (both homosexual and heterosexual)
Ecchi, soft sexual themes (Nudes / Naked cuddling)
Anything not mentioned above, I will not draw
Paypal or points only
I do not start until after I am paid
Refunds are picky. We can talk about it, though, if you are unhappy with waiting
I try to do commissions in the order at which I received payment, but I tend to do them from what interests me most

I've shared this nifty little trick before - a home made tripod. It sounds impossible, but actually it's really practical and much easier than lugging the real thing around with you if it's not needed! Check out this articlefor more information on how to create it!

Home Made Reflector
Reflectors can be pretty expensive from time to time. I've been lucky to pick up a couple cheaply on Ebay and they serve the purpose but if you really want to save, then why not try making your own? This article shows you how with just three materials and the video below also provides further guidance - check it out
PE: The power of contextA picture is indeed "worth a thousand words", a complex idea can be conveyed with a single still image. This quote also characterizes one of the main goals of visualizations, namely making it possible to absorb large amounts of data quickly. In our perception of artworks we see every day, some get closer to our hearts than others. Imagine a painting, strong and powerful, technique showing an experienced, steady hand, needing nothing but a pair of eyes to enter one's sensitive soul. Are you satisfied with what you see? I wouldn't count on that, but I would be quite sure that after a while your head fills with numerous questions.PE: The power of context2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
On the contrary, your favorite artist publishes their recent work and you, as always, immediately love it. If, however, you would allow your mind a little exercise, you could clearly see that if this work was shown to you at random, under different circumstances and you would not know the author, hardly would it catch your interest for a second.
How to handle rejectionIn light of -airquote fingers- ''recent events,'' I have decided to give pointers to some people who may or may not have difficulty accepting rejection without responding with violence. How to handle rejection3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Sometimes, other people or the media will teach you something that is inappropriate, and make you believe that it's acceptable behavior. Lots of other people might find certain behavior acceptable, but often, some of them won't.
Some cats like their belly rubbed. Some cats will scratch the shit out of you. And there's no way to tell which cat will scratch the shit out of you until you've already fucked up. But here's the thing. Rejection isn't a bad thing, and you can deal with it easily in the same way whether someone doesn't respond, lets you down easy, or drops you on your ass.
In this scenario, let's say you try to give someone a compliment, and accidentally offend them because it was a little forward. No matter how extremely they express their discomfort, you can respond in the right way if you tak

Tired of the Video Game IndustryWith the PS4 on the way, the gaming industry is alive once again reminding us how dull and boring and... wrong... it is. Here's a quick summary of some of the things I'm sick to death of hearing about when it comes to video games.Tired of the Video Game Industry2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Polygones = Emotion
I'm sure you've all seen the jokes, but this one stems from David Cage, who gushed over the tech demo of an old man's face for the PS4, remarking about how the only way to get "true" emotion is by bridging the uncanny valley with high resolution models, hi-def textures, and realistic shaders. "True emotion" of course can't be found in books, TV, or cartoons because none of those things can depict the exquisite details of a wrinkled face in true HD glory. I'm sorry to say this, David Cage, but if I can get an emotional response out of 16-bit pixel sprites from Chrono Trigger, or a pictureless book... your logic is faulty.
I'm really getting tired of everything wanting to connect to everything else. I know

So you make cute crafts, and probably someone offered you money for them. Maybe you need the money, and if you're like me, you need it to buy more crafting supplies. Whatever the reason, starting your own crafty business is a decisions that you should take seriously... it's not as easy as opening an Etsy account and setting some random prices for your work. There is a lot of things to consider to keep the business going, your money safe, your name clean, and your costumers happy.
By no means this is an absolute guide, merely a few guidelines of things I've found important or questions I get asked often by people interested in opening their own business. Most of this tips are intended for online selling, but they should apply for other ways of selling too. I will probably do more detailed guides in the future, as I learn more myself.
To begin with, don't forget to research as much as you can! If you're rea
Need references?Although drawing and painting "from life" is way much more effective and efficient than drawing from photos (I'll be writting a separate journal about this soon, no worries), you simply can't have a person to model for you every time you want to create something. And there are situations when you don't exactly know how to place that bloody hand or if the foot is drawn correctly. Similiar issues can happen with architecture, perspective... with everything you draw. Then, when you look for help, you may stumble upon Stock gallery and you find awesome things. Cookies New Commission InformationIt's that time around boys and girls, time for an updated Commission Info~Cookies New Commission Information3 years ago in Personal More Like This
As you may or may not already realize, they are quite more expensive this time around. You're damn well right they are. Not so much based off of my art skill level or anything like that, but more or less, just a realization.
If I sell myself out too cheaply then from what I feel is right for me, then what is the point? A quick 5$ for something that I can easily spend a month on? No thanks.
I posted a guidelines journal sometime in my fan-group, you can read it here: http://jam-girl-lovers.deviantart.com/journal/Cookie-s-Official-Commission-Guidelines-v1-0-288756977
The reason the prices are more expensive here then there is more because I was explaining it through effort. I am willing to haggle, but I'm not as desperate for commissions as I use to be either. If you don't like it, simply save your money for someone else.
My prices are based on effort more then quality, but I guess both go hand and hand.

When I first sold LMS to Paramount, a lot of people asked me: "How much money did you get?" "You're probably rich now, right?"
I mean, the solid gold mansion I bought was just a little gift to myself...but...
Ever since I was little, I've known I wanted to draw. From the day my parents put a pencil in my hand, this was my future. I just knew it, I had that gut feeling. So I stuck to it, and thankfully it took me to heights I'd have never imagined possible. Now with my new book Redemption heading off to studios soon for a hopeful movie package, I can't wait to see where this new road takes me.
That said, there's something else that tops all of this.
The other night I went out to visit my girlfriend's cousin and her family. Incredibly kind people with very sweet kids. Other than the two parents, there were 3 kids, but the one who caught my interest was the eight-year old boy, Diego.
Diego, shy, tiny, slender, reminded me of myself when I was his a
The Pitfalls of Speed PaintingI've been meaning to write about this for a while now, but recently a video popped on up Ctrl+Paint about the same topic and it encouraged me to finally talk about it. It's a practice that's been misconstrued and misunderstood for a while now, so I wanted to help people get a proper understanding on the subject. The Pitfalls of Speed Painting3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Speed painting has been something of a fad for 4 or 5 years now, even back when I was first starting digital work. Like many artists out there, I thought, "Sweet, I can do really cool work, really fast!" And like many artists out there, in the back of my head I was probably thinking, "This is easier than learning the normal way!"
Well, here's the main problem in regards to speed painting. Any of those really cool, realistic and well done speed paintings you see are done by professionals who have been painting for years and years. These a

To artists who want to offer commissions. I would like to address something I have been seeing as of late here and on other sites. Artists who are asking if someone would commission them if they were to offer commissions and if so, how much should they charge or how much are they willing to pay?To artists who want to offer commissions.2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I say this with a real heart to all artists, but that is a foolish line of questions.
Really. I have been there. I even did those myself. But look at it from the side of a potential buyer.
1: Would you even commission me?
Can you imagine if a doctor were to say that? If I were to open an office would you even come to me? That makes the doctor feel like a failure. Like he has so little faith in his ability to do his job he is afraid to do it. So he has to ask a thousand people IF he were to open an office would ANYONE come? Would you? Or would you want a doctor who just opens it and does his job and believes in his ability to treat you?
Same with an artist. You sound like you have no faith in your ability. If you do

'Cloud rhapsody' by anndr
Since I believe the efforts of semi-realism artists are not sufficiently appreciated, because there are so many fantastic illustrations in this style that does not have the right visibility on here, I decided to create an article to advertise these artists that are, for me, the 'new faces' of this fashionable and yet so difficult art style.
First of all, Semi-realism is a drawing style derived from mangas but more complex in terms of style. Indeed, if we want to be more precise, it is the missing link between mangas and digital art. No giant eyes but neither skin blemishes.
I would really appreciate if dA could add a category for this particular art style but I can easily admit the boundaries to define this style are very labile.
Well, after this brief introduction, I'm featuring some samples of this style from real
