arohaJ uploaded a teaser!!
IS ANYONE INTERESTED IN JOINING.
For those who aren't too sure what it is-
What is Pixiv Fantasia:
Pixiv Fantasia is a user-run fantasy-themed project organised on pixiv that happens yearly. It's run by arohaJ, and takes place over a period of around 8 weeks per event. Over these 8 weeks, pixiv users cram out art in possibly the greatest coordinated creative effort on the site ever and...well basically draw themselves silly. It's not just illustrations, either - people also create music and etc. for the project. Once the 8 weeks are over, though, it's over - no one or almost no one touches old content, so it's best to join early to make the most of the project.
There is no requirement to join, and there are actually a number of ways to participate (and more, if you can think of them). So yes that means no minimum art standard. It's a free-for-all.

Avoid getting ripped off by a client. As a freelancer most of your business takes place online, which makes it really easyAvoid getting ripped off by a client.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
for people to rip you off. How many times have we seen the following scenario's:
1- Someone offers a descent payment for your artwork but wants you to do an art-test first.
after the art-test you're being told you're not good enough. Later you find out that other people
got to do different art-test topics and also weren't good enough. The client clearly ripped people off to get free artwork.
2- Someone offers good money for your artwork. The sketch gets approved so you continue working. Right when it's done the total image suddenly becomes a great disappointment and the client ends up not paying you.
These were just 2 examples of situations that happen a lot to freelancers. There are many more like it.
How to detect if a client is a bit fishy...

BJD Doll FAQBJD Doll FAQ4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Please read this if you are interested to learn more about the dolls I photograph. I dont have time to keep answering the same questions over and over again >_< I will be updating this journal entry as time goes on. Feel free to add a question in the comments section and I will try to answer it.
❤ BASICS ❤
What are these dolls?
They are BJD - ball jointed dolls. If you search Google with those keywords you will get plenty of results with companies and other info about them. This is the Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball-jointed_doll. Also this LJ answers some questions too http://bjd-wtf.livejournal.com/ . If you want to learn more, I would suggest Den of Angels forum (http://www.denofangels.com/forums/).
Do you make them?
No I don't make the actual doll, I don't sculpt it. I am a customizer, I paint their faceups. I am basically a makeup artist for resin dolls. You can find the link to my commission shop
Paint Tool SAI and TRANSPARENT .PNGVarious Paint Tool SAI users might have noticed it, me included, and it always bugged me a bit.Paint Tool SAI and TRANSPARENT .PNG4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Apparently, SAI doesn't support .PNG transparency. Meaning, when you go and try to save an image supposed to have transparent areas, the picture still gets a white background.
To fix this, I and possibly other people used to save the project as .psd and load it in Photoshop or similar programs to save the file with the wanted transparent area.
Well, a quick search made me figure out that it instead DOES allow it, so I was wondering how.
After some research I figured out I was using version 1.0, which is extremely old and outdated, and it doesn't even feature transparency.
It looks like version
and superior are what allows png to have transparent area.
For some reason it doesn't have ink pen, which the old 1.0 had, but that's not a big deal since most of SAI tools are just the same brush with different settings.
So... I upgraded to

Art: Referencing, Copying/Tracing & EyeballingWARNING: Long Journal!Art: Referencing, Copying/Tracing & Eyeballing4 years ago in Personal More Like This
The recent art theft I've experienced as well as having seen several other people's opinions on what exactly is wrong or "illegal" as far as artwork goes, made me think some on what I felt and believed and I wanted to share my thoughts.
This is predominantly concerning things such as tracing, copying or eyeballing art, and referencing artwork, either heavily or lightly.
Firstly, I think all artists should realizing that looking at other people's artwork and seeing how they draw is a great way to learn. Not to copy their work, but just to see how they draw.
I've made mental note as I look around at other artists on how they do things from eyes, hair and even folds in clothing. More often than not I am not sitting there looking at their art as I draw, unless I am having a hard time getting something down such as recently on "Rain" where I wanted to really make Nathan's pants believable.
I did pull up some art from others to look
Manga/Anime are not styles 2Okay, so I'm still getting confusion over my statement Manga/Anime is not a style.Manga/Anime are not styles 24 years ago in Personal More Like This
Some people think I'm out to get anime or I'm against it. Other people think I'm only for it, this is my problem in a nut shell. People think it's some kind of war where you pick sides and lob rocks at the other. Why I'm saying it's a medium and not a style is because you can generalize and dismiss a style. But a medium, you can't do that without looking foolish. Imagine someone says "I don't like rap music", well then you just concede the point they don't like it and move on. But if someone says "I don't like ANY music" you'd really wonder what was wrong with them. In this case comics are the same way, and so is manga as they mean the same thing. The only way I can justify using the word "Manga" is for a shorthand of "Japanese Comics". Considering it a style itself is too generalizing.
Maybe this picture will help clarify how countries do not determine style.

A New Wind Lifts Storytelling
First imagined as a bedtime tale for his son by Kenneth Grahame in 1908, The Wind in the Willows has remained in the top twenty children’s stories ever since. But things have been getting weird out in the Willows, as the new comic on deviantART, Weirding Willows, will attest to.
Badger, Mole, Ratty and Mr. Toad are back… but they’re joined by Alice, Frankenstein’s Monster, Mowgli, The White Rabbit, Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny as they defend the world from the Wicked Witch of the West, Doctor Moreau, the Mad Hatter, Mister Hyde and the Queen of Hearts (not to mention the flying nightmare monkeys from Wizard of Oz.)

What is it about a fictional character first introduced to the public in Great Britain in 1887 that has kept him being reincarnated, with generationally-correct upgrades, over and over again in film and on television? Who is this literary hero whose portrayal over the past century by such past masters as Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett to today’s vanguard talents Robert Downey, Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch has inspired such a continuing outpouring of fan appreciation?

If you cannot handle someones opinion, dont ask it in the first place and then later go on and tell everyone who watch you that I suddly said how much I hate furry porn in the middle of a conversation when it was you who asked for my opinion first.
I guess this person has the same opinion like the previous who was all "peopel who dont like furry sex are weak" since this person was like omfg you must be 9 years old.
AND then we have this person.
I came over a conversation with two people, they were talking about me, and one of them stated that they us

It will tell you how to make links on dA.) If you showcase your work on another website, please add a link to my main page here at dA on the same web page where you display your art. Are you being honest with yourself? As part of becoming good at something you need to be able to reflect upon yourself. Judge your own abilities and work and consider the possibility that what ever you have been doing it wrong all along. Or perhaps you're actually being to hard on yourself and you're better than your conscious is telling you. This is not so hard, I can do this faster.

my friend, that is not the case in this event. The final piece will remain your own property, im just trying to get some activities going here. XD
you need to do one of the following to quality as an entry.

2. a short story involving a lamia. preferably no longer than 1 page.
there are a few versions of the lamia monster, what i am looking for is the one that is top half human, and lower half snake. now most of these are portrayed as female, but if you are up to it, feel free to make a male one.

They are most likely to go after a woman with a ponytail, bun! , braid
