What were your first artistic influences, and did they have a hand in the development of your resources?
To be honest, unlike most stock providers I am not coming from a visual art background. In fact, I'm not very good at drawing compared to others at all. However, I come from a performing background - theatre mainly, but a bit of dance too. For me, being a character is so freeing - though I go through dry spells when I'm not on stage. My friend told me one day about stock when complaining I hadn't played a character in a while and invited me to come and play with her for a day. Since then I have been hooked. I love sewing, putting together costumes and characters... it is just like performing

How did you first discover deviantART?
I was just searching around on Google for different sorts of art and a
few pieces caught my eye, they were all at this website called
deviantart, so I thought I'd have a look around and signed up.
What was it about dA that made you want to stay?
I liked the social aspect of the site, the fact you could comment and
favourite artists work but also have a platform where you could
socialize and discuss other things, like chat and the forums.
What is the story behind your username?
Urrrggh. Haha it was an ex's surname, I didn't expect to be on the
website nearly 7 years later! Lesson to you all! Think of a good name,
not a spur of the moment one!
What do you remember of your childhood in regards to art?
I was always doodling and writing in my spare time. I was the one that
didn't write anything i

Great stockers with fair rules around dAAdded 11 new stockers 18th of August 2014Great stockers with fair rules around dA1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
As I am lately back with some manips, I thought its about time
to make a journal with some of my favourite stockers
Why they are my favourite? Well they are for several reasons!
Each of those who will be listed here, will have:
good to excellent quality,
Sizes which are usable beyond webpics shortest side at least 1200,
(that excludes cutouts, jewellery or any stuff you wouldn't need as primary object in your manip and seamless patterns)
Rules that allow commercial usage (at least on dA and on request for outside dA)
Rules that allow outside dA usage without being forced to slap the stockers name ON the artwork itself.
or Rules that are fully unrestricted
This includes stock-providers that take a few points for their stock, because I rather pay a few points if the TOU's & quality are grea

Stock Requests! We've got a ton of requests, stockers! Take a look and see if there's anything you can help with ^.^Stock Requests!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Ever wanted to request for a specific male stock pose, but didn't know who to ask? WELL! Now you can!
Put your requested poses here, in the comments of this journal, and I will keep an updated list below so that male stock providers can come and look to see what's needed, and hopefully they can fulfill these requests! I'll update the journal whenever I get a new request, and I'll repost the journal every once in a while to make sure people keep seeing it I'll put your username next to the request so that the stockers know who to notify once the request is fulfilled!

Some things we should talk aboutThis journal is here to highlight, debug and bust some myths for you all of stuff that goes on ALL the time, and is in part spurred by some recent events that leave me somewhat baffled and perplexed over some of the behavior we've been recently seeing across the DA communities, particularly Stock & Resources, and Photomanip since we work so closely together (and its apparently time I wrote a new wall of text to you all.)Some things we should talk about8 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Every community has them. Those constant "issues" that make people angry and frustrated. Sometimes they can be easily solved with a little effort, and other times something just snaps and causes reactions that are far and away over the top. Here are some of our top faves.
Its time for everyone to take a nice soothing deep breath, its a long one!
There will be a test at the end.
OMG WHY DID YOU SEND YOUR REPLY TO PirateLotus-Stock and CelticStrm-Stock AS WELL??
Hello, welcome to TEAM Stock and Resources!

I have watched you a thousand nights into the shadows,
whispering your name
as the crave for tasting your essence clings from it,
So tonight,I come to you answering your prayers,
as the night enfolds your dreams,
lustful epiphany vexing your senses,
heretic caresses conveying bliss,
your body trembling
while my crimson kisses pierce your tender skin,
satiating the thirst of you,
feeling your pulse into mine,
slowly fading away
as you realize who I am,
understanding that there will not be a new sunrise,
My beloved,my name is Lilith,
uttering my name softly to your ear
as immortality enshrouds your soul with a last kiss.

Free StockLately things are not so good for Digital Artists. The big part of dA stockers don't allow commercial use; some of them don't even answer when you contact them.Free Stock2 years ago in Personal More Like This
And Free Stock Providers don't let us use their images in our works. Now it's SXC turn... I wonder where photomanipulators will go...
Anyway I recently found a Royalty Free Stock and I though it would be nice to share it with you.
Here you are the link http://www.publicdomainpictures.net/
For the sites where you have to pay I think Depositphotos is the best now. It has not a big database like Dreamstime but it's a lot cheaper.
And this is the reason why I am trying to do some extra money with tutorials. I am so sorry to put them on payment but I think soon we will have to buy all stocks for our works.
I hope I could help a bit our photomanipulations community. If you know any other Free Stock you should share.
Have a good day,

Best way to record yourself drawing digitallyUpdate: Added section about CONVERTING video sessions below.Best way to record yourself drawing digitally4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Quick bit of help here, because I'm not sure if everyone knows the best way to handle this if you want to record your progress while drawing in Photoshop, Manga Studio, Painter, whatever.
IF YOU ARE USING WINDOWSYou may have tried some of the screen recorders out there like CamStudio, FRAPS, or some free ones out there. You may have noticed, or had become frustrated with, the fact that many of these programs cause a significantly huge hit on your system's performance. When you try drawing in Photoshop, your tablet response comes to a screeching halt. Then you find a program that records without impacting your drawing performance -- only to find that the resulting video recorded at about 1 frame every 3 seconds. Then you tried FRAPS, then found out that 4 minutes of video resulted in a 3.2GB file. All of these are less than ideal.
A while back, I searched all over the net for a program that encoded video from my screen
Contest is over! Thank you everyone! :)So, the contest is over and last night I got a handful of last entries that managed to hit the "30 entries" mark - which means all three price packs are unlocked (although I'd have given them out anyway, to be honest )Contest is over! Thank you everyone! :)3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm really impressed with the quality of your entries, naturally I had my favs along the way but now that all is said and done these favs have piled up and I have no clue how to pick only three out of all of them. I'll probably have a look at all of them again with a few friends and then announce the winning images tonight or tomorrow, so that I can give out the prices before I'm off to archery week in Hungary.
Thank you again everyone who has entered! In my opinion the contest was a great success and I'll probably host another one in summer - I hope you had as much fun painting and drawing and manipulating as I did receiving every single artwork

What were your first artistic influences, and did they have a hand in the development of your resources?
My dad majored in art history, and back when he was in school in the dark ages, they had hardback textbooks, so he actually kept them. I used to look at them, especially his Rembrandt book. Rembrandt is still my favorite painter. I don't think that consciously influences my stock, but maybe on a more sub-conscious level...I don't much like modern themes; I tend to want to do stuff like pirates and Renaissance costumes when I shoot model stock. Olden timey stuff.
Whats one of the most rewarding aspects for you as a resource provider?
Probably the same thing that it is for most stockers: seeing the amazing things people do w
