Great Christian Thinkers: Ten Quotes About Christian Apologetics:
• Apologetics is not simply about reaching outside the church and helping people realize why Christianity makes so much sense. There are many people inside church congregations who are wrestling with apologetic questions; who come to faith but haven’t ...had all of their questions answered. I think the pastor, the preacher, needs to realize if they want their people to be good and minister to the faith, apologists and evangelists, they’ve got to be equipped. They’ve got to be reassured about their faith. They’ve got to be helped to be able to explain it and defend it in the secular marketplace. Now maybe many pastors and preachers say, ‘You know, I couldn’t do this.’ In which case, you need to bring somebody in who can. But there’s a real need for the local church to see this kind

Why Drive will be the movie that is remembered in years to come
Film Noir is a genre of “life in the shadows” movies that became popular in America during
the uncertain times of World War II. Westerns have remained a shorthand for the American
psyche with their sullen outsiders with a personal code of honor bucking the system.
Samurai films mirror the lone avenger protagonist, but set against a longing for a lost
society of incorruptible values. Now and again a notable contemporary noir or western or
samurai film emerges with little fanfare amidst all the commercial cacophony of the louder,
bolder, more spectacular action films that rule today’s box office. One such gem of film
blending all three genres flashed out of the shadows briefly in 2011. It’s called “Drive”

While warm summer is probably my favorite season, I have a soft spot for fall. It's a colorful season full of reds, oranges, and other fiery colors. It means cuddling with blankets, wearing cute scarves, and sipping warm cups of tea.
But mostly I love fall because it reminds me of one of my favorite childhood fairy tales called, "The Leaf in the Shape of a Key" by Joan Aiken. It's about boy who rides his bike beneath trees in fall, catching all shapes and colors of leaves. The last leaf is in the shape of a key, and it opens a door in the base of a tree.
I rode my bike under a lot of trees as a kid hoping to recreate the magic, but unfortunately, it's a little less whimsical when you live in a neighborhood of pine trees.
Still, fall is a time of nostalgia for me and the photograph

It would seem counter-intuitive that a person wearing glasses—i.e., a person in need of a device to properly identify and understand incoming visual perceptual information—would be assumed to be more rather than less intellectually gifted. And yet that’s the transformative power of donning a pair of glasses, the thicker-lensed and clunkier the better.

60 seconds interview with...Jo SchwabPhotographer Jo Schwab JoSchwab from Berlin has been on dA for the past three years. He is a very accomplished portrait photographer and his gallery shows a variety of portraits of women, in the "nude portrait" genre. He has received two DDs for "Olga" and for "Anesja" the latter a particularly stunning colour portrait of a black model. Jo has many fans and countless imitators but no one quite manages to match his uncanny ability to capture the undefinable.60 seconds interview with...Jo Schwab4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Some of his best work is to be seen only on his website http://www.joschwab.com/ where he shows greater versatility than in the work posted in his dA gallery.
I have asked Jo a few questions. This is our first interview in a long time. Our "60 seconds interview with.." are meant to be short and to the point.
Send me a note if you would like to be interviewed or have suggestions for an interview.

Custom Breaking Bad FiguresCustom Breaking Bad Figures3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Last year I sculpted up a few portraits of Bryan Cranston as Walter White from my favorite show "Breaking Bad". I was finally able to put the finishing touches on 3 custom figures of Walt, all of which were given to the creators of the show this past week.
It's been a helluva lot of fun, and a tremendous thrill to get to meet the artists behind this terrific show that has been so inspiring to me. Kinder people you will not meet!
So here's a look at the finished custom figures. These were pieced together from various sources, using Hot Toys bodies, and clothes I found on ebay and then altered. The heads were all painted by some talented friends of mine, and they really brought Walt to life. It's been a lot of work to try and piece these together in my free time, but I really enjoyed doing it.
ps- A random winner was chosen from my last giveaway. I'll do another giveaway in the coming months, I'm sure. thanks!

Monthly Street Challenge - FebruaryIn 2014 The-Yard-Collective launches Monthly Street Challenge with a new theme each month.Monthly Street Challenge - February2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The February theme is: SINS.
Consider the theme from all aspects. What is it? What does it mean? What could it be? What could it become through your mind and eyes? How could you interpret it perhaps in a new way? Is there a side of it we have not yet seen? Is it too obvious in itself? Is it possible to twist it and turn it and make it something else, something new and inspiring? These are the kind of thoughts that should be going through your head every time a new theme is being announced.
Just to get your thought process going, let's remind ourselves which are the seven deadly sins; lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy & pride. That list alone should be a fountain of inspiration for a street photographer!
Submit your Challenge photographs into The-Yard-Collective Favourites: ‘FEBRUARY Challenge’ folder. The Challenge folder will be open for sub

The Walking Dead comicsDo you feel cosy and comfortable sitting where you're sitting now?The Walking Dead comics3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Let's ruin it.
Despite being a story of people who usually make it, The Walking Dead comics aren't that positively oriented. What's positive about a world full of mindless brain-eating zombies with very few living healthy humans left? (Don't answer, I know that for some of you it's a paradise). Come and take a closer look at these comics from a diffrent way than usual.
The basics. The Walking Dead is a black and white monthly comic book series, written by Robert Kirkman and brought to its visual life by Tony Moore. These two guys are the creators of the serie, however, Tony Moore was replaced from issue #7 by Charlie Adlard (which didn't stop him from making the covers through issue #24). And, of course, there's also Cliff Rathburn, who's

The New Vexel Definition1. Vexels- what are they? The New Vexel Definition6 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Vexels are layered raster shapes of solid colour or gradients/ solid shapes/ raster shapes with look of vector.
The word 'vexel' is a mix of words 'vector' and 'pixel'.
2. The difference between vexels and vectors
The most important difference is that vexels are created using raster layers while vectors are created using vector layers.
Rasters are based on pixels (little squares) and each square is given a fixed colour. When you expand it you can see pixelation.
Shapes created using vector layers while expanding stay crisp and don't lose their quality.
Let me explain the difference on this example.
The image above is a vector. When expanding it to 300% it will still stay sharp:
If the same image was created on raster layers it would look blurry after expanding to 300%:
3. What is allowed and what's not when creating vexel art

Sartorial Storytelling: Character at a Glance
Pulp Fiction by Rembrush
Masterful storytelling is about suspending disbelief.
One would think the most important element of a story being told is the events being depicted. Belief in these events, however, is a prerequisite to appreciation. Picture this: watching Anna Karenina in the theater, you’re riveted to the epic tale of doomed lovers. Your friend, a history professor with a fetish for details, laughs at random moments. After the movie, he pontificates at length on how unbelievable the movie was

As a storyboard and comic artist, I often do a lot of fight and action scenes, having to distill a lot of motion into a single still image.
For this challenge I’d love to see what kinds of things you guys come up with and how you convey the idea of motion in a single image.

When I first sold LMS to Paramount, a lot of people asked me: "How much money did you get?" "You're probably rich now, right?"
I mean, the solid gold mansion I bought was just a little gift to myself...but...
Ever since I was little, I've known I wanted to draw. From the day my parents put a pencil in my hand, this was my future. I just knew it, I had that gut feeling. So I stuck to it, and thankfully it took me to heights I'd have never imagined possible. Now with my new book Redemption heading off to studios soon for a hopeful movie package, I can't wait to see where this new road takes me.
That said, there's something else that tops all of this.
The other night I went out to visit my girlfriend's cousin and her family. Incredibly kind people with very sweet kids. Other than the two parents, there were 3 kids, but the one who caught my interest was the eight-year old boy, Diego.
Diego, shy, tiny, slender, reminded me of myself when I was his a
