Artist's Toolbox: Origami PaperOrigami PaperArtist's Toolbox: Origami Paper1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
The Japanese for 'Paper' is Kami 紙. For Japanese speakers, the word Kami may refer to any kind of paper, but for English speakers, Kami is often used informally to refer to pre-cut packaged squares of paper.
There are a lot of different kinds of paper that you can use for origami. Usually square in shape, there are some that are of different shapes in different materials and different gradients. Based on this, a popular question that is asked is What kind of paper should be used for origami?
There is no single, correct answer. You are free to use whatever paper you like, but it does depend on what you are folding. Here are some types of paper that you could consider using for origami:
Washi paper is the traditional origami paper used in Japan. It is usually considered the finest and most expensive paper and, while it is handmade, it

'Fluff' by SCFrankles
This story, written in diary form, perfectly captures the voice of a cat, and is hilarious in its accuracy. Congratulations to SCFrankles for winning the contest with this wonderful piece, of course, but also for having it featured as a Daily Deviation on October 20th. (In some contests, that would have disqualified the entry, but not this one!)

The Matter of the MassesI've been painting for a few years now, but I feel like I'm only beginning to grasp the importance of this concept. I'll quote Robert Henri (1865-1929) from his book, The Art Spirit, which is packed full of such profound wisdom. The Matter of the Masses1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Robert Henri stresses this point:
"Insist on the beauty of form and color to be obtained from the composition of the largest masses, the four or five large masses which cover your canvas. Let these above all things have fine shapes, have fine colors. Let them be as meaningful of your subject as they possibly can be. It is wonderful how much real finish can be obtained through them, how much of gesture and modeling can be obtained through their contours, what satisfactions can be obtained from the fine measures in area, color and value. Most students and most painters in fact rush over this; they are in a hurry to get on to other matters, minor matters."
"The beauty of the larger mass is primary
Artists Toolbox: Colored PencilsColored pencils are widely used as a fun and readily available art tool. I'm sure most if not all of us have tried our hand at colored pencils, even if it was only while we were children. While colored pencils may not be as respected as paints such as oil, acrylic or watercolors, colored pencils shouldn't be under-estimated in the impact they can and do have on the art world.Artists Toolbox: Colored Pencils2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Different Types of Colored Pencils
Wax based colored pencils are probably the most common and readily available types of colored pencils on the market. As with any type of colored pencil, these come in varying qualities and prices.
Oil based colored pencils in my experience are not as easy to find unless you are shopping online or in an art store. These colored pencils are excellent if you are planing on coloring on wood or another similar surface. Blending oil based colored pencils ca

The Furry DistinctionThis topic came up when I was walking with a mate to GDC when we were over in San Fran earlier this year. In summery; what makes a 'Furry'?The Furry Distinction3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Now my mate is a Furry (Fursona, Fursuit, watches My Little Pony) and by his distinction because I draw anthropomorphised characters I am by default a furry. But then I was countering that I wasn't, partly because it is a bit of a fetish but more importantly I don't think I'm as invested per say to define myself as such.
Example, I go to certain boards because I can find lots of great art on them (because a lot of good artists co-incidentally draw furry's). On several notable occasions, when somebody posted pictures of NONE furry chicks the poster was cast as some hybrid of Hitler and Mecha Jesus, and the pictures were called hideous. For the fact that these women weren't furry characters repulsed them, and that when given an option a true furry will take an anthropomorphic character as a preference.
Contrasty to me, when the thought of a real life

I know Prime characters are difficult to draw due to their massive amount of details ect. ect. and Youtube quality is more or less very pixelated depending on who has uploaded episodes. So here's a bunch of screenshots for you to use as references. Only thing I ask is that don't share links directly to the images on photobucket, share this journal entry instead

Animation Job FAQ
Q: How can I get a job in animation?
The absolute best thing you can do to get into animation as a career is to go to art school. Not only will you learn how to draw and how to SEE, you will meet people, students and teachers alike, who will give you new perspectives and will likely be the sources of your future jobs. (My first job came from one of my teachers.)
There are several schools that have fantastic animation programs that cover all facets of the atr form. Schools like the one I attended, CALIFORNIA INSTITUTE OF THE ARTS, will teach you animation (2D and 3D,) character design, storyboarding, bac

Career GoalsI have none.Career Goals3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I literally have no idea what I want to do at any job I get. Nothing excites me at all.
The only thing that does is gaming and writing. But my mom keeps saying I can't get a career in those.
I'm trying to find a job and my parents keep asking me what kinda job and all i can say is "Any job that's not retail or food service."
Because I don't care. All I want to do is get my stories published and play MMOs. That's my only goals in life. Yes, I like to help people, also. Hvaing a career in that might be nice, but it's not the top of my list. ._.
So if you can find a job where I can write stories and get paid for it, please tell me.
[Revised] How to Protect Yourself Against FraudUPDATE - OCTOBER 2, 2014:[Revised] How to Protect Yourself Against Fraud5 months ago in Personal More Like This
Paypal has changed their layout, you can still send invoices but you can no longer select digital goods.
I haven't had time to really look into it and come up with a solution.
but you pretty much HAVE to send out something physical now if you want to be fully protected. There's still main points in this journal that describe how to go about that.
This Journal is currently Under Revision.
Points have been brought to my attention that have caused me to need to revise this journal.
I am still digging around on my free time to see if I can find a way around this. I will update daily.
Please note that this is specifically for Artists who use Paypal to sell digital goods.
OK, so there has been many artists being scammed lately through Paypal with large chargebacks. If you have been hit by a chargeback recently please feel free to note me and I will try my best to help
