7. A Job is a Job It was a fine day for kidnapping. The sun shined prettily off the late winter snow, the breeze was perfect, and Petra Whiteley was wedged in-between two very strange siblings in the back of a taxi. And unlike the girl she may have once been, she wasn't worried. In fact, she had even struck up a conversation with them. There was an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach, but she'd stopped listening to it after it landed her in this mess.7. A Job is a Job2 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
"So how long have you been eating people?" she remarked casually, tugging at the hem of yet another dress, although this time it was gray and ruffly and not funerary black. It seemed like she held a certain scorn of pants... And colors, though that could just be because they clashed with the pink.
"After our parents died." Ann yawned, though she sounded like the indifference was more of an act than anything. "I was 13. Was there. It's how I got this pretty face!" She grinned to emphasize, making a few tendons stretc

The very thought made her smile.
Which made the mangled mess of her jaw that much more disturbing.
If you weren't aware, it takes many muscles to express emotion, and in this case smile. Most of these muscles in Ann's face were torn, healing incorrectly, or uncomfortably visible, along with bits of bone. It was the face of what happened when you get into a car accident and have half your face sliced up by glass and metal, and then don't allow it to heal properly after being treated. Her unfortunately destroyed mouth and eye contrasted sharply with the rest of her, and caused most people to fear. Which is why she wears a scarf.
"She must be from the funeral earlier." Ann mused, watching her twin

I shouldve realized when she started wearing loose clothes, and put on weight. When she woke up early in the morning and locked herself in the bathroom for an hour. I shouldve realized long before she snuck out of the house in the middle of the night, wearing slippers to keep from waking me up with the sound of her clogs click-clacking against the old wood floor.
But I didnt.
Not until I woke up, and she wasnt there. Not until the phone rang did I realize what had happened. She was calling from the hospital.

I have not been picking anyone. How could I after you?
He reminded me that you never took me out on dates, and I had never been invited to meet your family. You would come over, and we would hide in the basement for hours in our own little world. You couldn't admit to the outside world how much you cared, but I knew.
I did start dating someone else, who wanted to show me off and not keep me hidden in the darkness of my own home. I do not like being put on a pedestal; I missed our secret world. You told me you did too.
He reminded me that I deserved to be loved and adored and appreciated. I would much rather have someone hear me, to be there when I could not endure life anymore. Many people do not know that you listened to me, and you came when I needed y

still, they searched for stars and spider's legs
and never noticed themselves crumbling.

i noticed you suturing the cherry trees.
they cried, but the tears turned to water vapor

There will always be brightly coloured words dancing just beyond the grasp of the human mind. They fall into confetti, never really understood, but are spun as silk into fractured sentences. We all can see them glistening in the snow-globe eyes and blown glass hearts of the innocent, as well as in the cold stares and empty whispers of sin.

A Catch-22 SituationSmithy killed the man in cold blood, there was no doubt about that. Smithy figured that manslaughter would land him at least a life sentence, and that sat well with him. Living out his days in prison sounded like a peach of an ending. Free food, free lodging, and protection from all those crazy people on the news. And anyway, the murder wasnt anything personal. The man was probably a good solid tax-paying citizen. Simply, he was bored and the man shortchanged him a nickel.A Catch-22 Situation5 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Smithys partner-in-crime was a freckled ten-year-old Irish immigrant who was actually a twenty-five-year-old Jew who grew up in the boondocks of Detroit selling aluminum cans. And he wasnt really Smithys partner-in-crime but an innocent bystander taken as Smithys hostage. With the gun to his head, he fell into tongues and then out again.
Agnus dei, the Jew cried. Agnus dei.
Its okay, said Smithy soothingly. The police will be here soon. Don

Guide to Sues: TragicusMaryus SulutisTragicusGuide to Sues: Tragicus6 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
The Maryus SulutisTragicus is, perhaps, the most common and one of the most irritating Mary Sues, simply because they invade any type of society and completely kill it by constantly trying to focus it on her and her sad and tragic life. The best way to go about describing a Tragicus is "Tragically Cursed and Forever Tormented by their Tragic Past which is Tragic." Anyone normal seems boring in comparison to her life. These are the Sues that have names like "Raven" (or Rave) "Archer" and "Ara", and will constantly talk about her horrific past. Many sues will have tragic pasts, but the ability to define and impress upon people her past is what makes the Tragicus so dangerous.
You will never see a Tragicus without dark hair. Ever. If ever a Tragicus with blonde hair is sighted, you're mistaken. It is likely a Rebellea, Romanticus, or a Selfinsertus

Leviathan: A picture for a prince
Just a small intro. Deryn/Dylan Sharp and Prince Alecksander Ferdinand are on board the leviathan heading towards the Ottoman Empire. A surprise request from Aleck gets Deryn/ Dylan to realize her true feelings for him. Rated pg-13 for later chapters.
(I might go to four chapters at most, also keep in mind there is a change of point of view and that the book just came out in October. This fanfic is a test run for future fanfics later on)
Alek walked along the great air ship that was the Leviathan. His now rubber soles clanked against the metal walkways of the ships spine. The whole crew seemed to be a little on edge whenever he and his men walked about with their "highly flammable" shoes. Until finally to put them all at ease they borrowed some rubber shoes that were necessary if you were to walk along the great ship.
After receiving the shoes Alek decided to head to the backside of the creature or "dorsal" as he learned later it

T'was a time
When to run amok
Was no crime
It was us a great shock
But was kept the same
It was just a silly fairy tale
For us it was to play a game
When they bailed out of jail
T'was a time
Truth and lies
Were no crime
Although we heard the cries
We let them pass out away
But we did not know
They'd return another day
Because they'd all happily show
T'was a time
Hitting and hurting
Were no crime
It was all so alerting
We heard the screams
It was the plan they were scheming
The pain spread out to our land
We thought we all where dreaming
It all fell like pillars of sand.
T'was a time
T'was a time
Although the past hurts
We musn't cry
This lesson I taught you
You will not forget
If you remember our year
Our year of the hurt
Our year of the pride
Our year of the people

So what will they pay to see us glimmer?
The people have come to see us tango
Respect their wishes and their whispers
Take a look at her affection,
It is not there it is not fake
Her hips and eyelashe, do not mistaken
Kiss me dear, let them eat cake.
Wine glasses in limelight
Why are we here, too high in the tower?
Paper cranes, no real ones in sight.
Jump from the sky delecate flower.
The people came to see a show
so what will they do to see us glimmer?
The people came to see a tango
Respect their wishes and their whispers
Search the sky for her affection
It is not there though it is not fake
Her lips and eyes, don't ever mistake them
Love me sweetheart, let them eat cake.
Brown eyes here in gold
Why are we taming loving glances?
A story is waiting to unfold
But nothing has come of our spotlight dances.

France's SaudadeFrance sat back in his chair, sipping at the pinot noire in his crystal wine glass. His taste buds absorbed the taste of the 219 year old wine. "1793," France mused to himself. He chuckled softly to himself, though it was not a joyful laugh. There was malice behind the it. Malice aimed at himself. 1793 was a year France never forgot nor came to forgive himself for. It was one of the years where the blood of men, women, and children flowed through the streets of France. France rubbed his temple as he tried to remember what went wrong. The beginning of the Revolution had been glorious, so ideological, and so awe inspiring. France was too blinded by the light of hope for a beautiful France to see how quickly the Revolution took a turn for the worst. The Revolution that was to make him glorious, turned into a Terror that would raise the question of how glorious the Revolution was. France cringed

Durin' the French Revolution 1789
People were starving.. was an awful time.
And the country was broke, it didn't have a dime.
Now times were hard but the queen bought dresses
Do you know her name? Got any guesses?
Her name was Marie Antoinette.
And the people nicknamed her "madame deficit"
They said to the royals "freedom look's great"
Let's no longer be starving lets be like the States
But the king said "I'll lose my power, that won't be great "
And his wife said I hid all the flour now "Let them eat cake."
Still they didn't have much, not a bloody red cent
And then Rousseau started the enlightenment.
Now the clergy was mad and the nobility even more
But the people were hungry and so pretty damn sore
So they started to rebel, took the tennis court oath,
"Let's go for freedom. Over throw them both!!"
So they held the national assembly was a big deal
Then they went and stormed the Bastille.
They took a lot of guns and cannons too

The blade whistled through the air, leaving behind the headless corpse of the King of France as a result, igniting cheers and whoops in the rutilant sunset.
The executioner wiped his hands, which had grown sweating manhandling the Guillotine, on his face, the fabric concealing his identity from the onlookers. He gingerly took the corpse and deposited it into a wooden cart filled with the other dead bodies, executed earlier that day as a colleague held the head up to the bloodthirsty crowd, who cheered on as the blood trickled down severed veins and onto the wooden platform.
The executioner sighed, and shook his head, quietly paying his respects to the King whom he had just killed, but found he had neither right nor obligation to do so.
The masked man cleaned up without delay, and took the back roads back to his house, stopping every so often to gaze up into the stars, brightly burning and white up above. Beautiful things the stars were and the executioner envi
