Defense of Marriage ActDefense of Marriage Act2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
In a country where freedom is considered a core value, how can we subsequently agree with antiquated ideas about marriage that are ultimately oppressive? Marriage may be, by biblical standards, between a man and a woman, but here in 21st century America, it is a commitment that two adults are making regarding their future together. No one should be denied equal protections and rights under the law based on their sexual preference.
I am a straight American, and I do not feel that my rights are being infringed upon when same-sex couples marry. I do not feel a sense of outrage at the decisions made by two people in their own p

PassionPassion2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
It is to be killed for,
To die for, and
to yearn for.
It is to live for,
and to strive for.
It is good, bad, beautiful and ugly.
It is the driving force of humanity.
The soul dares to reach out
for scarce solace, and
the feeling of being
touched back by an enigmatic unknown force
makes the senses scream...
This is passion.

ChangeChange2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
The weakness inside of us,
is not something we should hide from.
Rather, it is something we should embrace.
We are not alone,
this is the condition of the human race.
The struggle although relevant, is not a detriment,
because perseverance can take its place.
I want to feel, like I've never felt before.
I am ready to embrace love again,
and trust once more.
But I have to allow myself to be weak,
arrest illusion and no longer see struggle as defeat.
Without the aptitude for change life would truly be bleak.
Life is pain and pain is surmountable,
while holding this truth to be self-evident I am accountable.

Caucasian contentment leads us to forget that we are the United States, of white, black and brown. Modern society casts doubt that we are really holding our fellow citizens down.
Slavery seemingly ended, but bigotry is well tended. Our political system hides the fact that the majority of prisons hold black men, serving time to increase the profits of corporations.
The psychological, political, and social struggles of the white man, is nothing compared to the struggles of a

You see the seductive look in their eyes? It does well to disguise the popularization of idiocy in modern times.
It's a waste of time, to say the least, to listen to music created by shepherds of sheep. By letting them heard you, you are paying the price, for music created to appease a greedy appetite.
Hollow music breeds and feeds off simplistic themes. Inspiring the rich to be free of continuing talent but is confused as an ambitious dream.
From clones flows mimicked concepts and repetitious tones. Thought is di

it just takes a heartbeat
from dawn until dusk
the roses have faded
last ray casts its shadows
on clouds too upset
too stubborn to cry...
and thus future happens,
these leaves had to die
and trees... they lie naked.
and all of a sudden
the future is past
and though I'm still breathing
I'm dying too fast

the day will come, that we can be
as time passes by, you'll only see
the wonders of life, together we'll see
when all we'll need, are you and me
A time will come, and the past shall go
when we shall be, in our lives growing old
together forever, no secrete untold
and hopefully,forever, will unfold
the love we feel, the pride we take
will never fade, for goodness sake
so i tell you now, we could be
together forever, just you and me
a happy couple, with not a need
if you give your love,i will prove to be,
a reliable partner, just trust in me
too you i promise, on bended knee
Forever and ever, i pledge to thee

Tripoli: what IS going on?Tripoli: what IS going on?2 years ago in Articles & Interviews More Like This
It's no longer a surprise that a media war is being waged against Gaddafi and Libya. In March, all news were breaking and highly contradictive towards each other. A month passed until Libyans finally learned to disprove the lies, but while the news themselves grew relatively neutral, a new wave of misinformation was being prepared.
It arose in global media approximately on 15th of August, when a Saudi Arabia newspaper Asharq Alawsat told that Gaddafi is allegedly ill and ready to leave the country. Saudis, mortal enemies of Muammar Gaddafi, were, of course, such a reliable source, that all other papers followed.

A Real JobThis sterile trap,A Real Job3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
This corporate limbo,
Each day the same,
Data entry, data transfer,
Clicking and ticking of keys
In such great volume it sounds
Like heavy rain on the cold, cracked concrete.
This thin gray carpeted cubicle wall
Surrounds my exhibit room as I wait for lunch,
While white collars and other passers by
Look in at my simulated habitat.
Two frames, one with my wife,
The other with both of us, and the two kids
Adorn the otherwise light gray, fluorescent lit
Ten by ten square that is my territory.
I don't want to wait thirty years to retire
When I could have a job instead.

From waters formed pon mountains high
And droplets formed from weeping skies
That watch below the whole earth die
Swallowed softly in its lies.
Just like the mire round the roots,
From which a willow tree must rise,
Mans world spreads forth its hungry hive
To eat all it can hypnotize.
And so the weeping willow cries

With steaming taint,
The liquid in my mug
Offends me much.
It's taste is such
It brings to mind a slug
Whose slimy trail
Does now entail
To gather at my lips.
It makes me ill,
This swirling swill
I drink with grueling sips,
This fetid funk
This juice of skunk
That doth insult my tongue.
A troll's pit sweat
Or closer yet
The essence of dog dung
Or toxic waste
Would better taste
Than this revolting brew,
And yet, alas,
I'm such an ass.
To go without won't do.

But left us with the quiet stars.

God Exists Because I Say SoEvery time I get into a theological debate, the pro-God side says something to this effect: God only exists if you want Her to.God Exists Because I Say So4 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
This argument is nothing. Sorry, it's not nothing; it's just pointing out the obvious.
Of course you will believe in something if you want to. It's simply a matter of prioritization. Say you don't want to be alone, more than you want to live in an enlightened state. You will create a God, who you can always talk to and thus never be alone, to avoid this loneliness. However, not everyone is willing to give in that easily.
The mistake that so many of the pro-God make is the assumption that the anti-God somehow does
