Another book cover for publisher "Fabryka Slow", something Blade Runner inspired. Background is kinda mattepainting, characters thou are made from scratch. Few references used, nothing significant thou
My entry for CGTalk challenge "EON:Worlds within worlds". basically it was about creating illustration for featured book "EON".
For me Greg's Bear book is all about finding your way home. Under all of this sci-fi technology future plot is a basic need for everyone to find their own place in life. And so I wanted to capture that emotional message in my picture, don't know if I was successful but i tried :]
Dont let your eyes fool you - thats no angel. When aliens decided to invade us - they knew what they are doing. They came as holy createures to rain panic among our troops. And they succeeded. Picture is showing one of the first battles that took place in Israel. Angelic squads literally wiped out first response teams. With bioactvie liquid armour and plasma nanofibers our troops were no match for them. And so prophecy came true... the end of days from heaven... has come...
To be honest I finished that piece few days ago but i was fixing little things every now and then and finally said - thats it. So here it is. Hope you enjoy it ;]
This one is for all you picture puzzle maniacs, who just like I like to stare into image and nitpick every detail that can tell you a little story told on the canvas :] There is aground ten (not gonna tell you exactly how many) storytelling elements in this picture, some of them are obvious, some of them are not, and some of them you can see only in closeups. So if you wanna mess around a bit, find and connect all those pieces together into a short story that this picture is showing. Just post them as a comments - I promise I'm gonna read trough all of them and best of them will be featured in my journal one week form now. So lets the mini tiny contest begin
As for picture itself It was made for ImagineFX magazine workshop section. Featured in upcoming issue 27, that should be on the market around January 12 so if you can get it - get it :] Workshop is very extensive, showing my workflow and how I do the things I do, all with 30+ screenshot from production and few useful tips :] Hope you gonna like it
Image was done by hand in Photoshop, few references used but nothing significant. And I know that reflection in icicle is not realistic, but I did it on purpose to point something out - yes it is a clue
Crits and comments always welcome and remember about mini tiny story contest
