Name is combination of were (man) and cat.
Majority of werecats are found in Europe (when they were plentiful), though have been found upon all continents (save for Antarctica.)
Commonly confused with werewolves, though are dissimilar in most aspects.
Females (and males younger than 10-11 years of age) resemble humans and walk upright in their primary form, but have several main differences. Werecats have feline ears, eyes, teeth (sharper than human teeth), a tail, and claws. They have pads on fingertips and palm. Legs are feline as well, but are proportional to a human body. Typically shorter than human female average when fully grown. Claws on fingers and toes are retractable; on fingers, retracted claws resemble human fingernails. Claws appear opaque or somewhat blackened. Preadolescent males develop cheek tufts one to two years before puberty (which hits at 10 or 11 years of age). Adult

I stood in front of my school, gazing at it and sighing. I was back again for yet another year at Carrington High School. Sighing and moving my backpack from my right shoulder to my left, I began my trudge up the never-ending stairs.
There were cliques of people just hanging out on the steps; the skaters, the punks, the emos, the preps, the kids who just didnt care, and the normal ones. I just walked by them. I didnt belong to any of them, nor did I want to. I never belonged to any group. I was just Keely Finn, the girl who didnt fit in. And there was a reason I didnt fit in.
I grew up in the little town of Carrington. It was a very small town, and I had come to love it. I could never live in a large city. Because if my secret got out, if everyone knew I was a werecat, it would be harder to run away from it.
I had my own spot, a spot that no one else knew about, one that nobody really bothered to find out about. I walked to the side of the build

I shut the window, and sat down my desk that was a few feet to the left of the window, right next to my bed. I liked where it was, because then in the middle of the night when I cant sleep, I just go over to my desk and draw.
I pulled out a few sheets of paper and my bag of colored and regular pencils from the middle of the three drawers on the left side of the desk. I turned on my lamp, and waited for an idea to come.
Zains face came into my head, and when I couldnt get it out, I decided to draw him. I reached over to turn up my music, and then began to draw. I was suddenly lost in a sea of lines and shades, everything flowing from my pencil and onto the paper. I dont know how long I was in that state, but I jumped when my mom knocked on the door saying that it was time for dinner.
I looked down at the paper and then went wide eyed. I had never drawn anything this good. The way his hair waved in the wind, his posture when he looked right at me

I never saw anyone as beautiful as her. Her lovely copper red hair, her big amber eyes, her small petite form; she was an angel. And I had been lucky enough to meet her. Why, if I hadnt sat down in her spot on the rooftop, I might not have talked to her, get to know her.
But how could she have jumped down from the rooftop? That still amazed me. The rooftop had to be at least twenty feet up. Could she be a ? No. She couldnt. I would have known about another werewolf.
But no average human could have done that. She was so petite, too . Wait she was petite, yet she must have been stronger than any of the other students, including the guys. If she wasnt, then how did she get up onto the roof? I climbed, and that took a lot of my strength to do.
And the only reason I landed that jump was because my bones were thicker. They needed to be. Otherwise I wouldnt be able to change. I could see her bones, and they were pretty large, even with he

Thankfully, my mom got me the curtains that I asked for, so that I wouldnt have a repeat of that one accidental look-in while Keely was putting on her jeans, or worse, something else.
Unfortunately, the rain didnt let up, so I couldnt talk to Keely through the windows like I wanted to so badly. I wonder if she wanted to talk to me too . Well, I wont find out anytime tonight, thats for sure.
I sat on my bed most of the night, my parents allowing me to eat my dinner in my room. I finally managed to convince them to let me eat in my room after about ten minutes of saying that I had all this homework that I needed to do, which was a complete lie. But they bought it, and so I sat there, picking at my steak, wondering what to do.
I couldnt get her beautiful face out of my mind. I wanted to capture it and keep it with me forever. A picture in my mind wasnt enough; I needed something else. A drawing, a photo, a sketch, something th

I couldnt get to sleep that night. I was so wired up, so hyped up to see her the next morning that I stayed up listening to music and wishing I could talk to her again. But something in the back of my mind kept taking over my thoughts: she was a werecat, and I was a werewolf. We should not be friends.
But then I said to myself, well, who says you cant break the rules around here? Its not like anyone would find out. I smiled to myself, thinking about her wonderful smile and all those bright white teeth.
I had my window open a bit, maybe a few inches, because my room was starting to get hot and the cool air coming from outside helped a lot. I sat on my bed, leaning against the wall, listening to my music and thinking of her.
I must have finally dozed off, because the next thing I remembered was my alarm clock buzzing at me to get up. I punched it, turning it off and getting out of my bed. I remembered that the window was open, and I sleepily went to go shut it

P.E. was, I really hate to say it, fun. Climbing that rope was exhilarating, and I was actually happy that for once the coach called on me. And I got to give Zain a taste of what I was capable of.
He seemed to be as surprised as the rest of the group. I tried so hard to not laugh at everyones faces. Even the coach wasnt saying anything. Thats a first. Not even the girls who normally glare at me werent even whispering amongst themselves.
When I walked back over to Zain, he raised an eyebrow at me. Showoff, he whispered.
I grinned, and shook my head. Not me.
He smiled and looked at the coach. The coach was just starting to talk. So, whos going to be next to climb the rope?
No one stepped forward. They all looked around, waiting for someone to step forward.
You do know that if one of you doesnt step forward, I will have to choose one of you, The coach stated, raising an eyebrow.

I was pinning Travis to the ground, both of us snarling at each other. He had black ears sticking out of his hair, and his eyes went from blue to a fierce yellow. His teeth were longer and more lethal.
I cant believe him. Hes a werewolf too! How could I have missed that?
He took advantage of my moment of surprise and kicked me off before I could react. I was just getting ready to pounce back onto him and finish him off when Keely stepped between us, pushing us both back four feet away from either side of her.
Will you two just stop it?!
I looked at her, taking in her appearance. She looked more feral now, her legs about a foot and a half apart, her claws extended, and her pupils slit like a cats. She was snarling, her teeth larger and shaper than before. Her cheekbones were more prominent, turning her face into a more triangular shape, like a cheetahs face.
I will personally rip the two of you apart if you do

Werecats are is unique species whose origins come from Bast; the Egyptian Cat Empress of the Meadow of Desire where she resides in a golden temple surrounded by the spirits of humans guilty of desire. So the children of Bast of course claim to be beaten by only the succubi/incubi in the realm of beauty and love. If there is any fact to this claim it has yet to be proven.
Werecats themselves are shapeshifters who can go back and forth from the anthromorph stage and beast stage (such is also the case for hellhounds but canine instead of feline). The range of feline species the Werecat can take on is endless, from domestic to wild and even the shapes of mythical felines. Typically an individual Werecat can only change into one unique feline, not into a number of species but there has been rumor of individuals being able to change into multiple felines.
98% of Werecats are female because the werecat gene is dominate in the mother and passes to the daughter and if there is a male birth the

I was surprised at how my mood was suddenly lifted in the locker room. It was almost scary. But I blame it on the full moon.
Crap. Full moon. Inevitable change. I really hope Keely doesnt find out about what I truly am .
But at the moment, she looked happy, and I decided that anyone who ruins her mood is officially on my to-kill list. Okay, maybe not but you know what I mean.
John was still hanging around us, which was obviously bothering Keely. What did he say to her while I was changing? He better not have done anything to her. If he did, oh man will he regret it.
After the last bell rang, I rushed Keely over to our lockers, then grabbed her hand, and pulled her out the doors. She was laughing, and we soon began racing across the field to the forests. Dropping her backpack on the ground at the edge of the forest, she raced around, pouncing on me and knocking me to the ground.
I laughed, rolling over and kicking her off gently with my legs. She giggled

Dinner at Keelys house was nice. They were having steak, and they even let me help set the table. Keely and I were going to sit across from each other, a seating which I didnt like, and she didnt either, but her parents made it so.
All through the dinner, her parents talked while me and Keely exchanged glances every once in a while. She smiled every time, and I think I even saw her wink once. I stretched out my legs, accidentally hitting her foot with mine, and she jumped slightly. I mouthed an apology to her, and she only smiled, and kicked me hard, an impish glint in her eye.
Her parents didnt really address me at all, which was odd to me. Normally from what Ive heard and read, guests are treated like celebrities in almost every household, having every activity centered around them. But not being a part of absolutely everything made me happy, because I cant stand being in the spotlight for any reason. I just felt like I belonged th

As sad as I was to leave Zain, I couldnt wait to get to band. The people in band at least tried to understand me, which was more than anyone else did.
We were also getting our first piece of music today. The band director played a professional recording of it last class, and it has a really awesome piccolo part that sounded extremely hard but fun.
After walking with Zain to the theatre hallway, I darted back to the band hall on the other side of the school. By this time there werent as many people in the hallway as there would be right after the bell, so I was able to jog to the band hall, and seeing the fact that I didnt carry much in the way of binders, it was pretty easy.
I slowed to my regular walk as I went through the doors of the band hall. There were the different instruments warming up, many of the students still in the instrument locker room talking to one another. Most of them went silent when I walked in, staring at me, which was u

I was suddenly tired after those few minutes. My eyes became harder and harder to keep open, and I couldnt stay focused at all. Zain said something, but I barely heard what the heck he said. Then something musical rang, and for a moment I thought it was a bell, until I realized Zain was laughing.
He said something after he finished laughing that sounded like, You cant possibly get home in the state youre in right now.
At least, thats what I hope he said. He stood up for a second, then grabbed my hands by the wrists and carefully pulled me onto my feet. I swayed, then fell against him, groaning a bit. He laughed again, and then proceeded to reached down to the back of my knees and pick me up.
I tried to struggle against it, pushing him away, unsuccessfully. I can walk . Im f-fine .yaaawn . Dont even pick me up .

So after we returned to my house, Zain left, and my parents bombarded me with questions.
What did you two do in the woods? My mom asked me.
He didnt touch you, did he? My dad asked.
Did you guys kiss?
If he touched you in any sexual way, Ill hurt him.
My mind was about to explode. We played hide and seek!
My parents gave me a blank look. Hide and seek? Thats it? My mom asked. You two didnt do anything aside from playing a game?
I tried hard not to burst out laughing. Mom. This is Zain. He wouldnt do anything unless he had permission from you two.
Okay so it was a slight lie .Hes kissed me without asking my parents, but anything further than kissing, he would definitely ask. Hes just really weird like that . But it makes me love him that much more.

I couldnt get to sleep that night. I stayed awake with my music playing softly, staring at the ceiling and jumping at almost every single sound. I was nervous; what if someone had followed me into the forest? That meant that they would have seen me in my half-cat form. And that was not good.
My foot twitched. My thoughts switched over from thinking that I might have to move to another city, rebuild my life, stay secluded from all the other people. My stomach squirmed at the thought.
It was probably just another animal, I thought to myself, trying to calm my nerves. I hate the fact that I tend to overreact in situations; it really gets annoying at times.
After a while, I sat up. I just couldnt lay there forever; I needed to do something to keep myself busy. I looked out the window, making sure that no one was looking into my window (why they would anyway, I have no idea), and then stepped back away from the window, just as a precaution.
Then I pulled

That one hug from Zain, that moment of affection, made me smile for the rest of the day. I couldnt help it. It was like the greatest moment of my life so far. No one except my parents and my cousin has hugged me.
While we were walking to Biology, I noticed that Zain was walking closer to me than usual. We walked up the stairs to the second floor, where there was a large crowd at the top of the stairs. I groaned slightly; I really hate crowds.
Zain looked down at me, and then took my hand, leading me through the crowd. I smiled slightly, and followed him, the crowd parting slightly for us. I noticed that a lot of the girls were staring at us, and they were whispering to each other.
Let them whisper, I thought, still smiling. Who cares what they think?
I felt his hand tighten, and then let go, and Zain was by my side again, smiling at me. We walked into the nearby Biology classroom, and sat down in the back like we do in every classroom. Its not like

It was a full moon and I went into the forest to change forms away from everyone. Keely was following me. I changed into my werewolf form, feeling my mind transfer from human to wolf. There was a sound behind me, and I saw Keely step out from the forest, looking more fragile than she ever did. She wasnt scared at all.
Being more wolf than human now, I didnt recognize her at first, and I charged her. She didnt move, only stood there and took the blow, flying backwards and hitting a tree. I attacked her again when she stood up, slashing at her body with my claws. The smell of blood filled the air, and I felt the warmth on my claws that wasnt there before. She was on her knees, holding her stomach and crying out in pain. Before I could stop myself, I hit her again, my giant paw-like hand making contact with her head, making a loud thump. She was knocked down fully, laying on her side. After a few seconds she stood back up again, tears

I snuggled up closer to Zain, his arm still around me. I smiled to myself; it was the first time I had ever felt truly safe with someone before. I could hear his heartbeat move faster a few paces, and it made my own heart skip a beat.
Then I gasped, remembering something. Zain jumped as I gasped, and he looked down at me, worried. Whats wrong?
I smiled. Its a full moon tonight!
His eyes were suddenly filled with a fear that I had never seen before. But he smiled, trying to cover up the fear. Uh yeah . Full moon great!
You okay? I asked.
Yeah Im fine. Why? But he wasnt. I saw him tense up, his hands turning into fists.
Youre just oh nevermind, I said, shaking my head. I leaned back against him, and he put him arm tightly around me, like he was trying to keep me from going somewhere. But where would I be going?

P.E. went by quickly. We played dodge ball the entire period, which was a real good show. We were split up between boys and girls since we had roughly the same amount of each.
Of course, a few girls purposefully tried to get hit so that they didnt have to play. They just walked to the sidelines laughing and talking. Keely was one of the few who was actually trying to get as much of the boys team out. And she was doing a good job of it, too.
After about ten minutes, it was just me and her, battling it out. She throws hard too; I could hear the balls whizzing past my head and hitting the guys. Everyone guy that she hit would cry out in pain. Even though the balls were Styrofoam, I was sure that they would get a bruise. This is one reason as to why I didnt want to get hit. The other one was, even though I love her, there was no way that a girl was going to beat me in a game of dodge ball.
The minutes stretched out longer, and everyone on the sidelines ha

I hadnt noticed that there were tears streaming down my face while I ran through the forest. All I could think about at that moment was one word: why?
I bolted into my house, my parents jumping up from their chairs in the living room. Travis wasnt anywhere in sight (thank god.)
Keely? My mom asked. Whats wrong?
I didnt answer, only running up the stairs to my room and slamming the door shut behind me. I laid down on my bed, face first, not bothering to change back to my full human form. I wasnt a full cat yet, but that didnt bother me. It didnt bother me at all.
I started crying uncontrollably, wondering why I was crying in the first place. There were knocks on my door, the shouts of Travis telling me to open up or else hell beat th

Somethings not right, I said, still sniffing the air.
He sniffed the air questioningly. What? Its alright, Keely. No ones here with us.
I flinched. Without even turning around, I knew who it was. Travis, I told you to leave me alone. Why cant you leave me alone?
Because, Keely. I told you once. I can never leave you alone, Traviss voice came from behind me, trying to sound all velvety.
I turned around, and Zains hand reached for mine and squeezed it. I looked over at him and smiled before turning around to face Travis.
Travis looked like he had just woken up. His brown hair was a wreck, and his blue eyes were filled with unhappiness. Keely you promised,

I heard a scream from Keelys house, and I looked out of my window. She was standing in front of her window, and she was looking out into my room. Oh crap we could look into each others rooms.
The moment I saw she was standing there, she moved out of my view, as if trying to make sure that I didnt see her. Then I saw her parents come in. She didnt look like either of them. They both had brown hair, while she had red hair, and their eyes were different colors. The mothers were hazel, while her fathers were brown. They looked very worried, and I was partially worried too. What on earth made her scream?
After a few moments of exchanging words, her parents left, and I saw her lay down on her bed, turning up her music. I could just faintly hear it through the closed windows, and found out it was country music.

It was bad enough that Travis decided to arrive around three in the freaking morning, just when I was about to get to sleep, but being such an idiot and acting like he owned me was crossing the line. Im still older than him, and dang it, Im going to make him see that.
Anyway, the storm clouds hadnt gone away yet, and that was our topic of discussion on the way to school.
Did you hear the rain last night? Zain asked me.
Of course. I was up till I didnt want to finish the sentence.

Um I was up till about three this morning, I said sheepishly.
