Sometimes at fella we get notes from deviants about things that are beyond our control, things that we as a group simply can't intervene in or fix on your behalf. One of those issues is claims of harassment and abuse. Luckily, this is something that you can often deal with yourself with the account tools that everyone on the site has at their disposal.
The purpose of this journal is to share useful information with you about how to handle issues you have with other deviants, their behaviour and their work and to make suggestions as to how you may choose to deal with these issues. Remember, you can always find lots of information about all aspects of the site and interacting with other users in the

Alright, well we've had contests for drawing, and a lot of them at that, so me and C-D666 (both writers ) decided to have a writing contest for those who have been left out. Now I can already hear you artists groaning at the prospect and I have a few words for you: Shut up and sit down. Complaining won't get you anywhere. Either try your luck in this contest or wait for the next one, which will surely be a drawing contest once more.
Deadline is: January 6th (Collateral-Damage666's birthday )
The prompt is:
Now I can hear the writers groaning. In which case I repeat the words above. For this contest you can do whatever the hell you want. You can even write a fanfiction if you feel like it! Don't get the prompt? Then don't hesitate as

The House of DreamsI built a little House of Dreams,The House of Dreams3 years ago in Personal More Like This
And fenced it all about,
But still I heard the Wind of Truth
That roared without.
I laid a fire of Memories
And sat before the glow,
But through the chinks and round the door
The wind would blow.
I left the House, for all the night
I heard the Wind of Truth;
I followed where it seemed to lead
Through all my youth.
But when I sought the House of Dreams,
To creep within and die,
The Wind of Truth had levelled it,
And passed it by.

The Woman in BlackAt some points it felt sort of odd seeing Daniel Radcliffe playing a father role, mostly because he's still so young in real life, but I like how they realized that people have probably read the book or seen the play already and changed the plot a bit so as not to be too highly predictable or copy-and-paste. The plot is still largely the same, but all the moments spent in the darkness of the house were the creepiest and most suspenseful by far.The Woman in Black3 years ago in Personal More Like This

I'll admit I was scared during various parts of the film, but I'm still intensely cheesed off over the fact this undead bitch thought she could go around killing other people's children just because her kid died. And she screamed an awful lot. Look, I get it that losing a child is tough but, ghost or not, you're still an unjustified douche.
Oh, my sister took my kid and didn't recover his body from the marshes so I'll just HANG MYSELF AND KILL EVERYONE ELSE'S KIDS FROM THE GRAVE BECAUSE I AM ANGRY AND CAN'T GET WHAT I WAN
Negativity in fandom, and the dreaded 'thoughI was talking with a friend about how some fandoms are super fun to be a part of. And some...not so much. I regret to say, as much as I love Korra, it's not a particularly fun fandom for me. Neither was Avatar. (They're FAR from the only fandoms that suffer from the problems I'm going to be "talking" (word-vomiting) about, but they're the ones I've had the most experience with.)Negativity in fandom, and the dreaded 'though3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Fandom has become a dirty word. I have literally been accused of participating in fandom. Wait, accused of what? For me, the whole idea of "fandom" can be summed up in one word: excitement. Man, I love getting excited about shit. And I LOVE talking to other people who are excited about shit! And then our excitement spirals around each other's and then we make awesome creations with that extreme excitement. EXCITEMENT-BENDING! This is what happens EVERY time I post a fanart, and I c

She called it synthetic coke, Adderall. "If you have ADHD it's 'sposed to calm you down, help you focus. It can be fun in larger doses, but when you snort it, it feels a lot like thizzles." And it's the perfect line, words formidably crafted for my downfall. Like Satan himself had sent her to claim my soul, told her that I'd need some convincing but once I was hooked, I wouldn't even need reeling in.
She was seven years old when she dropped acid with her mom, I guess I was just looking for a role model.
Reverse Nice Guy SyndromeI'm just going to dub it "Reverse Nice Guy Syndrome" for now because I don't know if there's a proper title for it, but I've noticed that there's a peculiar little bug that hits various people (although certainly not limited to "guys") that causes them to genuinely believe other people (or certain individuals) "owe" them attraction. In short, it's basically like "Nice Guy" syndrome in that it involves a feeling of self-entitlement, but in this case it can sometimes be a somewhat backwards attempt at empowerment in that the "syndrome" causes people to believe that if another person does not feel attracted to them, physically or otherwise, it is automatically the other person's fault entirely, and they are labelled as "shallow" (or an asshole, jerk, bitch, haughty, etc.) simply because they do not have an attraction to or possess a desire to sleep with the "deserving" individual. Like the "Nice Guy," the person always feels like they are the victim in the situation, and in many cases isReverse Nice Guy Syndrome3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Username changing and you!I recently posted a forum thread here about people's thoughts on username change. I find that a lot of them would like it, but know that deviantART has openly stated that they will not transfer anyone's content over.Username changing and you!4 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Relatively recently, Xehara, a deviant who wants to change her username posted a deviantART Suggestion here which got a Daily Deviation. I was a suggester, which shows that I am in full support of this idea.
On this Suggestion, I commented the following:
"I like this suggestion, but I know that dA's thing is that they don't want to confuse people by having people's profile links broken. So, I was thinking that instead of putting your old username back open for anyone to get, you pay the fee to have it disabled and whenever someone goes to that link, it redirects to your new page (like with Skittleboi redirecting to Josh)!"

Internet Copyrights 101Since there was an app recently on Facebook which resulted in numerous copyright infringements and legal issues, I figured now would be a good time to refresh everyone on basic internet copyright rules. A lot of copyright infringement happens because people don't bother to take the time to ask the original creators if it's alright to repost. It usually doesn't take much effort to send an e-mail or note asking for pe

25 Things I learned being a Comic Artist in 2011The following list contains intense amounts of SARCASM for the purpose of satire and humor.25 Things I learned being a Comic Artist in 20114 years ago in Personal More Like This
1. Never offer artistic advice or hint at the possibility that the way young and inexperienced groups of artists work might in some way be flawed.
2. Every comic must be inherently drawn better and be funnier than the last.
3. Humor is NOT relative/subjective.
4. Nothing is funny. Ever.
5. Even the most trivial aspects of your comic must be taken 100% seriously.
6. Failure to incorporate conflicting suggestions for improvement = incapable of accepting criticism.
7. Trying to quelch flame wars also inexplicably = incapable of accepting criticism.
8. Trying to explain your artistic decisions = incapable of accepting criticism.
9. Having lots of watchers = having an inflated ego.
10. Reaching the frontpage = getting Daily Deviation.
11. Every character you draw (even ones you do for commission/jobs) = your personal opinions and beliefs which you must obviously follow rigidly IRL.
12. Never change y
Atheists true targetThis is my finally blow in a debate I had with some Atheists.. I spent a lot of time on the wording and believe you guys may be interested in it.Atheists true target3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Note: I am not an Atheist nor am I Religious.
My Response to >"yea may be a higher class of people (are in control), but right now I don't really know who they are"
I'm talking about Banks, The Free Masons, The Illuminati, You people are probably the only ones who understand what it means to see the whole picture, to awaken and see the lies we are being fed on a day to day basis. There are some things about Religion itself in which you have been manipulated.
We have the power to feed and stabilize Africa and yet funds poor into the middle east to claim OIL. We know of conflict between Israel and Palestine but we don't see it on the news and we don't involve ourselves in it. Palestinian children ARE being slaughtered day to day over there. We don't hear support for Palestine in our medias because it isn't in the interest of those in control. I

there are 30 pictures of us on facebook, a few duplicates and a few that have never been posted. missing him and on a whim, i decided to look through them.
the first photograph of us is from two years ago, january 8th 2011. there are two, actually, taken on my best friend's phone. in both, i am talking on my phone, rebecca sneaking a photograph of us while she thinks i'm not paying attention. i am, though, and in the first i have my arm wrapped around him; in the second, i am loosely holding his hand as he strikes an amusing pose. i have my purple paris sweatshirt on, and he's wearing a blue button-down shirt with a black tie, half dressed up for a swim meet i didn't go to watch. we are standing in the pool hallway, the light blue brick of the walls the backdrop. in both,

Soviet Medal 'For Courage'
French 'Légion d'Honneur'
German Iron Cross
SS Honor Rings and Regimental Rings
...and much more.
These are not mere ribbons or metal trinkets.
These were earned through courage, pain, blood, honor and self-sacrifice.
They are not casual stuff to be worn with your punk, goth or military supply outfits, so you might look cool.
You have not earned them in battle.
So if they are not something passed to you by a family member who found you worthy of his heritage, or something you use for educational purposes in the framework of historical reenactment shows, events and photoshoots...think twice before wearing them.
Of course you might want to wear that like you would wear a rock group T-shirt, not giving a fuck of what it means. In this case, you and me have very little in common.
