Fantastic Stock and Where to Find It - Feature 30Happy New Year To All.Fantastic Stock and Where to Find It - Feature 3010 months ago in Art Features More Like This
I've been making a collection of some of the brilliant stock artists
works that I have come across. It started off as stock I can't provide
myself so I look for other peoples so I can suggest them. The way I
choose is quite odd, when I see a stock image I have an instant image in
my head of what I could do or create out of that piece of stock. The
image also has to be crystal clear and easily altered.
Anyway, Check them out, I'm sure you'll agree, just click on their deviation.

Hot-Linking, Reporting Art Theft and Groups!STOCK GROUPS: BEWARE OF POLICY VIOLATORS!Hot-Linking, Reporting Art Theft and Groups!2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
As a Founder and/or Co-Founder of Stock Groups, I get dang tired of deviants who are alleged art thieves trying to join who have galleries of "stock" that are screenshots/caps of celebrities, movies, games, comic characters, etc. Not only are such requests denied, the deviants are reported to the help desk! I notify Elandria of the "celeb" stock and she can move it to the scraps and report the deviant directly to the CEA team. The problem is rather huge, so it is important to get the word out.
Report, report, report!
:icontrashcanplz: The sooner such garbage is removed from deviantART, the sooner we can all find legitimate stock to use! Considering there is a limit as to how many stocks will show when doing a search, the celebrity, comic character, movie caps, etc. take up valuable room in the search results. How to get more pageviewsThis includes getting more fav's, comments, and watchers. Just use one of the following techniques, or all of them if you're into it:How to get more pageviews7 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
1- EMO technique: let other deviants sympathize with you by checking your page daily to make sure you haven't committed suicide.
- Put a picture of you crying, cutting your wrist, or eating your own flesh as a sign of unworthiness and self destruction.
- Write more than 10 journals telling people that you're closing your account because you aren't getting enough attention.
- Tell people you've got a deadly disease, suffering from social drama, lost your eyeglasses and now your dog is helping you surf the internet.
2- Popular deviants technique: this is also called the parasite or the leech technique.
- After finding a very popular artist, constantly send shouts in their shoutbox, with lots of icons to drag attention.
- Stare at their status, once they appear online, wait for them to submit a new deviation or a journal entry.
Know your Basics - Colour Theory (the manip way)Most of us have heard about Colour Theory - be it in school or on dA or as a term thrown about by someone somewhere. But what exactly is it? And how do you use it? This is what this article is striving to explain especially in regards to photomanipulation.Know your Basics - Colour Theory (the manip way)3 years ago in Personal More Like This
The Technical Part
Thankfully, there's tons of reading material about colour theory. Starting with the wikipedia article on the subject (which seems rather dry and boring to be honest) and ranging to tutorials written by deviants for their fellow artists. Those are the ones I'd like to recommend to you to get started in colour theory:
Still too dry and technical?
Okay, let me put it this way: the use of colours in your artwork can determine its mood and atmosphere. If you do it well, it can draw in the viewer and make them see what you want them to see by putting emphasis on certain parts. Colour theory gives you a way to know in

Got Me Some StockI don't like to self-promote. But I have some stock files that I'd love to see used. I have a lot of great friends on here that are amazing artists, so I hope you find some of my stock useful. Most of it is free - the only things I will be charging for are my premade backgrounds, but those will only be 10 points. Besides, all the points I get go towards my awesome group ArtHasSoul and all our great contests and challenges!Got Me Some Stock10 months ago in Art Features More Like This
My rules are very simple:
Prints and commercial use allowed (as long as credit is given)
Ask before making premades with my free stock
Do NOT make premades with my premades
Do NOT redistribute
So, have a look! Maybe you'll find something you can use! And feel free to make suggestions, whether it be on image size or other stock I should try to provide. I don't plan to offer model stock, but just about an

Describing your CharactersDescribing your CharactersDescribing your Characters2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
As writers, one of our primary goals is to bring characters to life in the readers’ imaginations. To do this, a character needs two things:
1) A personality.
2) A physical appearance the reader can imagine.
The first is created through characterization, and the second is said to be done through physical description. While both statements are true, what I’d like to discuss is how physical description needs to do more than just craft appearance, and more than anything, it's characterization that contributes to vividly imagined characters.
Take a look at the following example.
1) When I entered Mr. Smith's office, he stood and smiled at me. He had a big nose, brown eyes, and short, brown hair. He wore a dark suit. I shook his hand.
What do you know about Mr. Smith from this brief scene? The physical details I’ve given say that he has a big nose, brown eyes, and short, brown hair.
