"I see you brought more friends this time FireBrandi. Do you regret leading them to their deaths?" Kim Paler called from across the room. At her signal the guards resumed their assault.
"No one is dying on my watch Kimmy! We'll be too busy breaking your legs!" FireBrandi retorted, throwing another fire blast at the small army. "How long before Kai and Will are ready to fight?" She asked Angelina.
Angelina's brows were furrowed in concentration. Kneeling down she was practically hidden behind the massive form of Kai Steel, with Willpower on the other side of her. "A little longer. I am able to remove the toxin that has made them vulnerable."
Kai Steel stirred, "oohh... I really don't like mental illusions."
"Glad to have you back Kai, how about you Willpower?"
Willpower groaned "I'll be ok in a minute, just need to.. LOOK OUT!!" He pointed above them,

The dragon in human form shook his head. "No, I'm not one for the spotlight. I'll just watch from in here."
"OK, then." Giving him a wave, the two heroines continued through the door.
As they entered the reception area, a woman behind the desk greeted them. She has short, wavy blond hair and dark eyes. "Hello, Mindy and Aria. There is quite the crowd gathered outside."
Aria practically bounded over to her and gave her a big hug. "Hi! I'm so glad to meet you. What's your name?"
"I am Maria," the receptionist replied. "And physical contact is not necessary for greeting me."
Aria looked confused until Mindy came over and told her, "Maria is a robot. Polygirl built her."
"Oh!" Aria responded,

From the outside the factory did not seem to be anything unusual. Bardak's sensors did not find anything either. The locked doors were easy to get past, letting them into a dingy, littered reception area. Kai Steel led the way down the short hall into the main area. Through the double doors they found a massive work area. Old machinery and conveyor system lined the wall on the right. Numerous large crates and steel containers scattered the floor, dusty and corroded, along with a couple fork lifts. A catwalk circled the room at about fifteen feet up, with presumably a manager's office at the far end overlooking operations. Below that was a large hallway leading to the next section of the building.
They carefully crossed the room, ready for attack from any direction. Part way across an open area a red glow appeared among them. A device, like a black barrel with red spider

This was a first for FireBrandi, running a mission briefing. She is the one who put out the call, it is her duty to tell the people who answered, the people who could be putting their lives at risk, why they are here and what they face. They were gathered in a meeting room in The Guardians' HQ. The assembled heroes scattered among the seats. Polygirl was operating the computer controlling the video display, and holding a box of popcorn for the show. FireBrandi stepped behind the podium. She gave a sigh and started floating up so she could be seen over the podium.
"Thank you for coming everyone. We are here" Brandi was interrupted by the door opening as Mindy Marvel came in. "Sorry I'm late."
"Mindy! So good to see you here. I'd thought you would be off campaigning." Brandi smiled at her friend.

As life slips by,
Like waves upon the sea shore,
I stand in the sand,
Afraid to let the water touch my feet,
Because I might get swept up in the current,
And taken away from my memories of you.
Watching the rain fall from my window,
Longing to fall with it,
To twirl in the drops of water,
And forget myself in the chilled air and darkening sky.
Tears drip from my longing eyes,
Like frothy waves and sprinkles of rain,
So wet, and pure.
To fall like rain, and be swept away by the current,
To nowhere, to somewhere, to anywhere… but here.
To let go,
Would be to forget.
To forget all that is wrong and hurt,
To forget this pain that still lingers inside of my soul.
Yet, I am afraid the current might take away the good memories as well,
And that as we fall with the rain,
That you might slip just beyond my reach.
Yet that is how loss is.
Because I would rather take the chance of falling,
When I know that we will always be close,
Even when you are just beyond my reach.

Not in this case, however, as the woman was running far faster than even the motor vehicles that roamed the city streets. The female had a slim build with muscular legs that were built for running. She wore a green skin-tight uniform with a yellow lightning bolt in the front. Red goggles protected her eyes from the flow of air which rushed toward her at an incredible rate of speed. Running made her feel alive. There was no greater feeling of exhilaration to her. The air parting as it hit her uniform left a tingling feeling on her private parts which made her face smile all the more. For the woman known as Slipstream, this was a far greater feeling than sex. Nothing was better than this she thought to herself as she streaked through the streeEle-Mental3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This

Damn it to puss gutted hell! Professor Mikes outburst faded over the much louder screeching of his SUVs tires. Fresh coffee quickly seeped through the protective material of his jeans, creating a wonderful burning sensation on his thighs. While brown stains on his pants was far from an ideal fashion, Mikes real concern was getting to his first lecture on time. As he sped through a yellow light, it was just luck no police lights appeared in the rearview mirror. It was also a good opportunity to adjust the light blond hair of his reflection for a moment. Mother always told him luck favored the prepared. The two extra sets of clothes in his truck were a testament to that philosophy. Glancing at the clock,

After her encounter with the red-headed girl at the department store, she feels her mental foundation shaken to the core. That with her having difficulties switching between her normal form and that of the much larger and stronger form of Kai Steel, she feels the need to seek out professional help to help her build much needed confidence. Can't really place the blame.
I'd like to search you out
But you've driven me insane
The parts you can see,
Are the only one I'd show
Who I am, you'll only meet
If I can learn to understand and grow.
It's not so bad when you're gone,
It's actually quite nice...
It's when you come back that I realize
That this is how I pay your price.
We're two different people now,
If only we could be the same,
Then maybe perhaps we could stay,
Then I'd love you forever
And we could finally call it quits
To this little game.

Proclaiming nothing but self-pity,
No one notices a cloudy day in Oregon,

The new trend of today's youth.

Listening to punk on MTV,
With scarred wrists,
Bleeding over a dead cat.

And loving themselves when they put their head in an oven,
Unlike rapid-onset brain tumors

for this is the prayer they pray, again and again.
2 It is these who should be marked and minted into lives worth being spent.
3 These are the words they speak in vain,
"Our father who art in us, tradition be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, in me as it is in him.
Give us this day our lovely sins1—those of youth and innocence.
And forgive us our deviance, as we forgive those who differ from us.
And lead us not into similarity, but deliver us from the collective.
For thine is the prison, and the scorn, aimed at abnormal men."2

The only time things were not routine was about a month ago when the store security caught a shoplifter in the act. However, it wasn't any typical shoplifter. It was a red-haired paranormal with white streaks worn in a short bob style. She had done something with their minds that prevented them from stopping her. Curtain call; it's time for our final bow. I know I'm not the first student to ever compare his school career as a stage performance, and considering I'm not even in drama, it's quite ironic for me to pick such an analogy. However, the similarities are rather uncanny. For life is indeed a stage and the rest is vaudeville.
Ah, vaudeville! So much of our show was a vaudeville act. Sometimes the most satisfying memories of your life are the ones that have no lesson. Simply slapstick. I love slapstick comedy. If I had to define our show's genre, I'd say it was a comedy. If there was "drama" at all, it was melodrama, and that just added to the humor.
