Started out as a training piece. I was experimenting with some new ways of making stars, background noise and bringing in some more light into my pieces. This whent on for like a couple of hours, and then it became clear that i had to work some more on it Its weird but it seems its my training pieces that makes it to my gallery hehe.
I've wanted for a long time to make a pure space pic, with some more colors and light than what i've been doing lately. Hope you guys like the result.
I've made a bunch of new planets for this piece, and one of the more unusual ones is the hot planet, swirling with lava , a little up at the right.
Working time: 11 hours
Tools of the trade: Photoshop cs2
This is my submission to the Terraspace Contest by [link]. Go give them a visit and a watch!
I tried one or two new things in this one, so i dare say it isn't all perfection, but still one of the best terraspace projects i have done up to now.
I wanted a real panorama view in this one so i stiched the landscape together out of three terragen renders, go check the walkthrough [link] if you like. The view is not adjusted to the the gravity of the planet in whichs atmosphere you are, but in relation to the whole composition, that is why the horizon is tilted. I feel this way the planets, landscape, sky and space become equal elements.
The final product here reminds me of one of caspar david friedrichs paintings, of course not at such a high level and with less symbolism, but you can recognize the three zones, which are very typical for one of his paintings. Now please don't think I'm putting myself on a pedestal with such a great artist... O_o
Hmm whats left to say? Definitely go check out the other submissions.
Comments and 's are truely appreciated.
*EDIT: New Frame / Minor Edit on: Cracks, Landscape, Tornado and Protagonist*
- Whilst drifting through wave and gas alike, relish both light and dark as one. And as you see fear and delight as sons, you will embrace solace and flight as two. Theorise. Exercise. Summarise. That is three.-
The result of my school A2 level Art project. The first result of three.
I think the post work on this Picture took longer than creating it O_o. I must say i got stuck at some point and just stared at my monitor for hours.
I started off with the terragen render which i quite like. Then made my way to the starfield. In the end the planets. I left this one at full resolution because i think
this one would loose to much detail if i resized it.
Thx goes out to for helping me with the final steps. Thx to for motivation...
After taking a gander at [link] by I was provoked to re-think my current state of art. I've been having trouble recently with how I work - lack of practice, lack of knowledge, lack of inspiration - whatever it is I have hit a block. A block stopping me from creating.
So if my current mindset is incapable of creation, I thought I should enter the mindset of someone else. Work through a different route. Obviously there is a pretty severe degree of similarity between my result and Brandon's Solace, but creating art though someone else's means can help you refocus and expand on your own.
Now if only I could create a good looking set of stars
