All my friends know that I am totally devoted to this gold creature : Ferret ! It is why this news is about Ferrets, but what I am writing here can be applied to any Shelters and Rescues not only for ferrets but for other animals and also for those community groups who are helping humans in need.
The first part of this article is about how I help the Ferrets Shelters & Rescues with what I have in my hands : My photography.
But YOU, if you want it, you can also help them, and I will explain how in the second part of this article. So go and please read if you are interested . I don't want to sound presumptuous, I just wish motivate people to see how it can be easy to donate or to help and bring them to participate in a way or another. This biggest devMeet to ever hit Austin is coming in a week and I know I'm not the only one worried about the hundreds of cameras snapping away during the biggest party of the year. Between the meet and SXSW itself, you can expect to see yourself in more pictures than you have this whole past year.
Scared yet? I am!
Guys, I'm as guilty as anyone of taking BAD photos. REALLY bad photos ...really really bad photos.
However, it doesn't have to happen! All it takes is a little forethought and being aware of yourself.
I've gathered some tips and observations that can help YOU look awesome in those snapshots even if you're in the middle of telling some outrageous story to quite possibly the hottest CEO out there (oh mai!)
Pre-Event:
1) it starts with your clothes. Pick an outfit that is structured and well fitted. Resist the urge to wear clingy clothes or billowy clothes.
Trust me, one will make you look like a stuffed sausage and the other will

Grow the Fuck Up ManifestoWe: the creative, intelligent, self-confident, and eclectic,Grow the Fuck Up Manifesto5 years ago in Personal More Like This
...are tired of the "mature content" police. We believe that part of living in the real world is going to be offensive. And, when we are offended, we are brave enough when sufficiently offended, to peacefully and courteously confront that which offends us and try to resolve it on our own; it is our responsibility as human beings to do so.
Furthermore, when it comes to art, we are perfectly capable of picking and choosing what we will look at, and do not need a third party to "help" by enforcing a ridiculous system of scoring images as "mature" or "ideologically sensitive" or "violent." We think such rules are ultimately pointless and intellectually demean everyone who follows, enforces, or has them enforced upon them. In short, if we don't like your art, we'll ignore it. If we really don't like it, we'll send you a private note or make a public comment clearly stating why. In other words, we don't nee

Birthday Scuzzle! BREAKING NEWS! Something terrible has happened!Birthday Scuzzle!2 years ago in Contests More Like This
Some naughty mudkips invaded dA and stole a very important photograph. The stunning photo was a gift for all of you to celebrate deviantART's 11th birthday. It is devastating to confirm it is now missing.
Witnesses say that the mudkips were spotted sneaking out of an open window, but we cannot confirm until a full investigation has been reported and all evidence collected.
In the meantime, the photograph remains missing. $Moonbeam13 is currently searching her spellbook to find a way to bring the image back.
Stay tuned for further updates. A full report will be issued on the 3rd August.
What is a Scuzzle?
A Scuzzle is a combination of a Scavenger Hunt and a Jigsaw Puzzle. There will be lots of missing pieces of this Scuzzle ready for you to find. Although there are some subtle clues to help you along your way, you will need to search high and low for them! Come back on the 3rd August for the hunt to begin!
The Committed Canvas:icontechgnotic:The Committed Canvas2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Tattooing has existed since the very beginnings of Neolithic human expression and has since those ancient beginnings continued to be a reliable flash indicator of personality type. There are those people who get tattoos and there those people who simply do not. Even though the social opprobrium for getting inked has greatly disappeared in recent years, and even though skin art has become almost boringly de rigueur amongst rock guitarists and other entertainers, there is still one element that separates the tattooed from the non-tattooed in terms of artistic appreciation: commitment.
Tattoos may be the first “interactive” art form. The art lover doesn’t just buy an artist’s artwork – he or she becomes one with artwork, he or she commits to becoming a living canvas for the artwork, he or she, by choosing the tattoo to be borne forever, shares authorship with the tattoo artist of the artwork. T
Presenting: Community VolunteersA BRIEF OVERVIEWPresenting: Community Volunteers2 years ago in Community Relations More Like This
Over the years, we've been proud to offer the opportunity to volunteer with deviantART. We believe that our volunteers play a crucial role in helping our community develop and grow in positive ways.
The Gallery Moderator (previously known as Gallery Director) and Message Network Admin (MN@) teams have become a much loved and appreciated role, with many volunteers proudly detailing their experience in applications to enter into successful careers with companies who all recognise the value of volunteering in such a vibrant and eclectic community. Did you know that some of our now full time Staff were once volunteers? $fourteenthstar, $Moonbeam13, $pachunka, $aunjuli, $y2jenn, $damphyr, `Tachy-on, $dxd and $Ikue all volunteered in various roles -- and we are all very proud of that fact!
Over the past few months, we've been taking a close look at the volunteer experience -- what's worked, what hasn't worked a
Art in Contemplation of Its Own BecomingDuchamp finds a discarded urinal. He alters it (by signing a name to it not even his own, but obviously “the artist’s”) and names it “The Fountain”. The most mundane, even off-putting, of objects is transformed by Duchamp into art. He submits it for exhibition and it is rejected. You might say the judges “pissed on” his idea. But the idea was born and persisted. Duchamp insisted the object was art because he as an artist presented it as such. “Conceptual Art” was born.Art in Contemplation of Its Own Becoming1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Announcing the deviantART Creative GrantsAnnouncing the deviantART Creative GrantsAnnouncing the deviantART Creative Grants1 year ago in deviantART Blog More Like This
At deviantART, we have spent the past 11 years building a place where artists can share and discuss their work and get inspired by the work of their contemporaries. A noble cause, for certain, but we would like to be so much more to our beloved community of brilliant creatives. Starting today, deviantART will also be a means of inspiration in an entirely new way with financial support for art.
On 3 month cycles, deviantART will accept applications from artists seeking to fund art-related projects. A panel called the Creative Grants Board will pick those projects that they believe will benefit particularly from a Grant and give those artists the support they need to make it happen. The lucky few who are chosen to receive Grants will also be given a beautiful accolade on their deviantART Profile Page to celebrate their succes

For years, we've been getting requests from the community asking for the ability to change usernames. We realize that as an artist, it's important to give you the ability to change your personal brand, just as you change your interests, skills, and art types.
How It Works
Deviants can now change their username in their Settings. To change your username, you must have an active Premium Membership. (The reason there is a "fee" associated with the change is because switching usernames is a complex technical proce

Exploring IndustrialThis time around we are looking at Industrial Photography within the Urban and Rural Photography Gallery.Exploring Industrial2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It's a simple term and it pretty much explains itself. Industrial is factories, industrial areas, cranes, machinery
and so on.Quite often you can mix industrial Photography with Urban Exploration -
The two often go hand in hand.
The use of photographs to depict industrial activity and products began in the 1850s and 1860s.
Few firms employed their own photographers, but commissioned independent operators, or
employees who could use a camera.
Industrial photography cannot be tied to a particular aesthetic or function. There are innumerable
links with other branches of the medium, such as portraiture, reportage, and architectural and
advertising photography.
Industrial images hold a history, a world that many of us w
