This needs to be said.Someone sent me an Ask on tumblr asking me whether or not I was an out poet. This needs to be said.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Yes...like coming out of the closet.
This anonymous person ( and if you happen to be reading this, I in no way mean to offend you ) seems to believe that telling people they write poetry or write in general, they will be judged accordingly and labeled a loser. Since when did loving words become something to be ashamed of? I love words. I love writing words. I love mixing and matching words. Does this make me a loser?
If someone has the nerve to even try to judge you for liking poetry/writing, punch them in the nose. Maybe then they will get something better knocked into them. The greatest writers never cared what anyone else thought of them. They wrote because they liked it. Why shouldn't you?
( Side note: Lyric's writes make a lot of money. /just saying. )
Are you ashamed of telling people you are a writer?
Why, or why not?
Have you encountered anyone who is?
What do you say
Activity vs. Community When combining millions of artists working with different media, style, experience level, etc. being here can become overwhelming and finding your "place" can seem almost impossible. Throughout the last few weeks I've noticed more and more people asking "how can I be more active?" and "how do I get involved in the community?"Activity vs. Community2 years ago in Personal More Like This
These are both the same question and completely different questions at the same time. Though the answers to both are quite similar if not the same the difference between activity and community is huge! We're going to cover the answers and difference to both of those in this article.
There are three basic ways to being active on dA and getting involved the community. Everything after this will actually lead right back to these three things.

Micro Colour Contest Top 10 FeatureHey everybody! As some of you may know I was recently a judge of one of my best friends’ contests that was being held over the past few weeks! And for those that do not know, it was Lissomer’s ‘Micro Colour Contest!’ So, naturally, as we went through each entry and deliberated where they all stood, there were 10 very particular deviations outside of the top 5 placers that were truly astounding. So good that we couldn’t possibly NOT recognize them in some way. So without further ado, here are our top 10 entries:Micro Colour Contest Top 10 Feature1 year ago in Literature Features More Like This

My deviantART StoryMy deviantART story starts (and will, hopefully, end, though not anytime in the near future!) with collaborations. My deviantART Story1 year ago in Literature Features More Like This
That's not to say that I was collaborating with people RIGHT out of the gate--don't get me wrong, I was like any other fresh-faced newbie in that my participation with other writers/artists was dismally horrendous. As in, I didn't participate.
I joined deviantART June 2008; I posted up my FIRST collaboration more than a year later, in July 2009. That is where my story begins.
losingmyfaith was the very first person to approach me about collaborating. I had always DREAMED of having the sort of relationship with my watchers that they could, without fearing rebuff or rejection, send me a note or a comment ANY TIME to work with them. I think in recent years, I've achieved that--but back then, there weren't many people out there willing to work with strangers online. A matter of wearing their
Impromptu Feature!Seeing as how I've gotten, well, another influx of views (And watchers, 7 today), I want to use that for good.Impromptu Feature!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So I'm going to feature 4 writers who I feel deserve more attention.
First, is a friend of mine in the beautiful br0kenbutterflies. She's quickly becoming one of my favorite writers on deviantART and I'm so happy she's on dA to share her beautiful works. Her poetry is so....honest, so introspective, it carries so much weight and beauty with it. I adore her works:
Second, is a new deviant by the name of Vanelopes-corner. We've only spoken for a little bit but her passion for her poetry is more than evident and I appreciate it. I love it when I come across someone who loves literature as much as I do and I can feel it in her words, as well as her creations:
Third, is the very kind Kamission!

Did You Know - Community VolunteerCommunity VolunteerDid You Know - Community Volunteer1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Community Volunteers (short CV) are deviants that help the community out by providing them with a specific contact point in relation to galleries, chat and forums
Every CV only acts within the areas they are trained in. That means that generally, a gallery CV will not moderate chatrooms or forums or give DDs for artworks in other galleries (unless having permission). And no chat/forum CV will give DDs. In some instances, some volunteers are trained in Chats & Forums and Galleries and have permission to cross-over. To be certain, you can view the whole roster of volunteers here and see what area a volunteer is representing.
Any volunteer can be easily recognized by the heart, next to their username.
