Fennec fox (vulpes zerda, fenek berbersky) from Zoo Dvur Kralove nad Labem, Czech republic.

I got to be very lucky because only a day before my visit, the zoo announced arrival of new pair of fennec foxes (they have a pair of quite old fennec foxes in incredibly huge enclosure - that habitat is SO huge that I had to laugh when I saw those tiny foxes in). They live in a new habitat that is much smaller than the one inhabited by old pair, but it is still nice size for such a tiny fox. They have a decent indoor enclosure and small but cute outside exposition which is connected. Foxes were very curious and very active, investigating their new living conditions. So they were running everywhere, checking stones, trunks and even visitors, they came as close as they could :D it was lovely. Also, this photo WAS NOT taken with a flash, of course. I never use flash when I photograph animals. The green light in its eyes is caused by natural light :) I do not think the fox is ill with eyes. That was just a light.

Gift for my beloved best friend Allerlei as it is her birthday today   :cake: :glomp:

Temperance is a female bat-eared fox living in zoo Dvur Kralove nad Labem in the Czech republic. This spring she gave birth to two kits but she was not able to take care of them, she probably did not have enough milk. So keepers tried to hand-feed the babies to save them. It is very difficult, but zoos always do their best to return the babies back to parents / mother so they can get the right behavior of their species. This time keepers tried to keep the kits in touch with parents, especially Temperance. Tempe is very friendly, so she allowed the keepers to put the kits on her belly so they could also get some of her milk, while the keepers kept scratching her (www.facebook.com/zoodvurkralov… :XD: this tactic worked were well, pups got stronger and when they could accept also normal food (like worms), they were finally reunited with the family :aww: this photo shows happy Tempe who seemed to be guarding her family - both kits and father of them sleep behind her back :D

Tiny feature for dear :iconallerlei:
