The character may refuse to answer a given question, but must say something in reply to it. The character must answer truthfully, but that does not necessarily mean that their answers must be true, only that the character believes them to be true. Have fun.

Look into my eyes,
clouded with tears,
look at my chest,
it feels heavy,
look at my smile,
where it use to be,
look at my skin,
pale as ice,
Look into my eyes,
filled with life,
look at my chest,
it isn't heavy,
look at my smile,
look at my skin,
a shade everyone sees,
Its how I want to be,
life like no other,
how are they the same,
a upside down world,
A mask on everyone,
their eyes dark,
their heart unvisible,
and what smile on there face,
there skin untouchable,
I don't want to be like others,
so I'm looked at,
a pain hard to feel,
time goes by fast,
my feet glued down,
a hand reaches out,
yet is ignored,
I want to be acknowladged,
is it supose to be hard,
yet its simple for others,
Bullying is hard,
hard to tackle,
hard to ignore,
hard to face,
hard to live up to life,
are you the bullied,
or the bully,
Paying Fantasy and SciFi MagsNote: all links go to the magazines' submission guidelines. Also, I put Fantasy & Science Fiction in the Science Fiction category because they require some small aspect of science fiction, no matter what.Paying Fantasy and SciFi Mags3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Another note: I know there are a lot more magazines out there, but I had to choose between some of them so this list wouldn't go on for eternity, especially in the sci-fi area. My selections were mostly based on their websites -- how confused I got finding guidelines or not, how understandable their guidelines were, and so on.

truly nothing else left to gain
For the minds eye is but biased
Thoughts that scatter in the winds..
Winds that take away the cruelty of truth
Perhaps the winds that can burn the fire
are what I most desire
An undeserving fate for those who wait
Truly nothing left of creations hope
For those are left for ones with better chances
I've wasted behind false romances
The bias of another days dream
Lost or so it would seem
Numb to the coming of tomorrow..

She walked and lost her way
Her way she did not regain
With her voice, she longed to say
Now, she walks in the night
Seeking a way out
Her eyes no longer giving sight
Her voice unable to shout
Her life cut short she walks in white
Through the wooded glade
The mists that blow through twilight
Her restless soul is swayed
She can't see the light, calling her back home
Though she senses it's true warmth near
In her heart longs to atone
She sheds a silent blackened tear
And continues blindly alone
Jelsa (4): There are things which never changeHer white braid stood out from the multitude. In the past, I would have flown towards her and surprised her by appearing in front of her, like I knew she loved me to. But I could no longer do that. Not here, at least. I threw myself towards the zebra crossing without even checking whether the lights were green for me, consequently having to dodge a car which just by chance didn’t run over me. I worked my way through the crowd which, even though they could finally see me, their routine seemed to absorb them so much that they appeared to be blind.Jelsa (4): There are things which never change9 months ago in Short Stories More Like This
“Elsa!” I cried
She stopped short in the middle of the sidewalk, her hands hidden inside her blue jacket’s pockets in order to pretend to feel as cold as the rest of the humans. She did overact sometimes…
“Hello, Jack” she smiled.
There was something in her enormous blue eyes, which occupied almost half her face and her immensely black eyelashes, which contrasted with the tone of her skin, that stopped
A Villain Like No Other: A Frozen EssayA Villain Like No Other: A Frozen Essay10 months ago in General Fiction More Like This
When I first saw the latest Disney animated feature Frozen, I immediately loved it. Since I first saw it when it opened on November 27th, I was able to see it in theaters SEVEN times between then and January 1st, exactly five weeks after it opened! I primarily loved it because of its different representation of love in a Disney fairy tale, especially the sisterly love between Anna and Elsa as the main plot and romantic love as the subplot, which is what I discussed in my first essay. But there were a lot of things about the main characters that I thought made the story flow so well. This includes the nature of the film's main villain, Hans, who is among the most unique and interesting villains I have ever seen in a Disney film.
If you watch the film several times in a row, once you know Hans is the villain, you can see some subtleties of his true nature in most of his scenes before his true colors are revealed. For this very reason, I decided to write this es
Born of Cold (3) Arendelle's Little Secret...Jack flew high above the other people, each weaving through the crowd, vying to be the first to get in. Geez, people, it's not that cool. As he wove, though, he could hear people chatting below him. A tiny, funny looking white haired guy, with a nose that took up half his face, was talking to two brawny, red clad men. The man had a weird, creepy voice with a note of something he couldn't determine, but that made him want to gag.Born of Cold (3) Arendelle's Little Secret...9 months ago in Romance More Like This
"Ah, Arendelle. A most mysterious trade partner. Open those gates so that I may unlock your secrets and exploit your riches... Did I say that out loud?" Jack scoffed. Wait, Arenedelle was a mysterious trade partner, huh? He wondered, what could this beautiful nation be hiding? Hmm...
The winter spirit turned his attention to two men, clad in formal attire wearing tricorn hats. The larger man began to speak.
"Ah, I cannot wait to see the queen and the princess. I bet they are lovely!"
"I bet they are beautiful!" The thinner man said. Jack thought. The girl he'd

A tutorial by M. Alice Chown
If, like me, you have stories lying around gathering virtual dust on your hard drive, why not send them out to a publisher? You have nothing to lose. A couple of years ago, I attended the launch of an annual Canadian short story anthology, called Tesseracts 10. I knew one of the authors whose speculative fiction piece had been included in the book. Matthew Johnson and I had taken the same creative writing course. Our former prof, author, Robert Sawyer, was there at the launch too, as well as the editors of the anthology. Those who had contributed a story to Tesseracts 10 took turns saying a few words about their piece. Matt talked about his joy at learning that after so many rejections his humble tale about soup of all things had made it into print. Most surprising to me, however, were the words of the pretty, brunette author. She was just 19, a University of Toronto student, and her short story had been her very first

She admires the damage in others
Her twisted form of jealousy.
The breaking of a heart
And the touch of a razor blade
The only true pain she has ever known.
Her heart reaches for broken souls
Taking them into her cold embrace
To amend for her sick envy...
Her guilt for being ordinary
Knows no bounds.
As she clings to injured hands
Wishing to heal them
Wanting to be like them.
Her reason for which
Is still Unknown.

Lucy moaned and looked away. "Why are you here? I've been puking all morning and probably look like a zombie."
"Ridiculous! Zombies aren't so adorable," he declared and took a seat on the edge of the bed. "Some chicken soup to keep up your strength. Say ahhhh."
"Oh, hell no!"
"Come now, princess. Are you able to sit up to feed yourself? I think not!"
"Loke..." she began in exasperation.
"Ahhhhh!" he tried again, nudging the spoon closer to her.
She sighed, gave in to him, and opened her mouth. "Ah," she said with a hint of sarcasm.
Loke looked pleased and slipped the spoon into her mouth.
"Hey, Lucy." He spoke the words softer and lightly touched her hand. Her eyes opened a little, but she shut them with a moan. "Your prince is here."
"Loke," she croaked out.
"Hush. You don't need to talk."

Such a beautiful night.
The moon was full that evening, outlined by a soft pale halo of white. Its magnificent form looked bigger and brighter than usual, standing out in the cloudless sky, dwarfing its little companions. The reflected rays from the sun had nothing in their way, covering every single part of the town with its beautiful entrancing glow.
A young man stood at the cliff of Joshou Mountain. From afar, he looked no more than an ordinary vagabond; dressed in a dark blue kimono with snowflake patterns and brown hakama pants, holding a long shepherd’s hook staff in his right hand, and a grey-blue scarf on his neck that was frosted on the edges. He was, by his opinion, a remarkable creature. His most remarkable features of all was his glossy snow white hair reflecting the moonlight that shined above him. A pair cerulean blue eyes glittered with excitement and wonder as he marveled at the flickering lights from the everyday hustles and bustles of the town below him.

forty pieces of silver.
This man promised you a winter
so warm and bountiful
spring would be ashamed.
He called you by name -
not the one that father knew
shoved under his bible.
But the one left behind
in the branches,
in the bucket of brambles,
and the columbines
buried at your feet.
Stones on the battlefield,
surrender in the grass.
What did his face
even look like behind the curtain,
counting those coins
and loosening the damp earth
from your shoes?

She was a dance of winter blue,
A determined flame of cold white dawn.
Her eyes, once a child’s, now deepened to an ocean,
A timeline of loneliness and suppression.
She’d become an adult.
All child-like desires restrained—
Seeing her this way makes my heart ache.
In her youth, she’d been a goddess,
An ethereal howl of biting winter wind.
Never holding back.
Now she stands,
A mere whisper choking the storm inside.
I want her to scream,
To let go of this tranquil heresy
And call forth all the corners of her wild heart.
I want her to be free.
