How to Market Yourself on DAA question as old as DeviantArt itself; How to Market Yourself on DA2 months ago in Personal More Like This
I've been in the community for 3 years,
Why do I only have 22 watchers?
I spend a lot of time on my work,
Why does my page only get 30 visits a day?
I try hard- why am I not noticed?
Why am I not famous or popular?
Thankfully for you, I know a few tricks of the trade and happen to have a brother that majored in business marketing.
Don't forget that DeviantArt is a social network along with being an art website. There are thankfully some cool things you can do to put yourself out there when you feel like you've already
Disclaimer: These are all mine and my brother's personal opinions. You do not have to agree with them. Please keep the comments free of negativity.
First and foremost, establish yourself with consistency. Consistency is what will make you easily identifiable and stand out from the crowd. This includes (but is not limited to) the title format of you
New timelapse video:)Wow it was last december that i wrote any journal. Huhh. )New timelapse video:)7 months ago in Personal More Like This
As i mentioned many times already, i've been doing my timelapse video of sunrises and sunsets mostly. I've been waiting to upgrade my computer systems to make that video in a good quality. Finally it is complete.
Many scenes are recorded last year with a more limited equipment than what i have now. I am already shooting new scenes and i will be making new videos soon.
Recommended to watch the video at 720P minimum. though i must say that videos framerate is somehow much decreased when i uploaded it on the net. Don't know why.
I also would like to thank Tigerforest for their wonderful music.
A Letter For All Of You~Please ReadI want to let you know you are loved.A Letter For All Of You~Please Read7 months ago in Personal More Like This
When you get up in the morning and feel distressed and worried, remember that you are loved. Even if you don't feel like it, remember that you are loved.
When you walk through the halls of school, and are confused, or don't know why you are sitting aimlessly in the middle of class, remember that you are loved. Sometimes we have to fall in order to get back up.
Even if you're happy, and don't feel stress at all, remember that you are loved. Be grateful, and smile.
If you are sitting lonely in a corner of your room, typing away at that laptop or PC and suddenly feeling that you have no one around, remember, that you are loved. I know you don't feel it, but there is not one person in this world without a hint of that beautiful feeling. So embrace that love, cultivate it, grow it so large in your heart that those icky feelings will never return. Become a tree of love, and let others enjoy your bounty.
You are love.
Why are we this wayThing is, i am absolutely frustrated with humans. Why are we this way7 months ago in Personal More Like This
Every single day im seeing constant injustice, constant racism, constant MISUNDERSTANDING.
It annoys me to no end. How in the world can you judge a culture, a race, a another whole REGION of human beings by a few terribly researched and portrayed news anchors? How in the WORLD can you hate an entire culture, race, ethnicity or judge an entire chunk of people without knowing them at all?
Since when have we gotten to the point, that we don't even give them a chance? That we've dehumanized those who are different from us.
Nobody said you had to agree; you were born obviously in a different mini world of your own. But these people have families, homes, friends, they joke with eachother, they play catch with their child, they smile at their grandmother, they eat breakfast, they watch the sunrise.
We are all human, and we all do almost the same things every single day. We are NOT that different, and if
My Dad's Thoughts on Attack on TitanHello everyone! After procrastinating on some stories, I got the idea to interview my dad. Whenever I watch the dub on the TV, he occasionally watches it as well, and I talk about it every once in a while. So this is the result. My Dad's Thoughts on Attack on Titan6 months ago in Personal More Like This
(My question) Q: What do you think about Eren Jaeger?
(His answer) A: He's a titan, and an okay person. Even though some of the people (referring to the court scene) don't like him. Also, he should stay away from spoons.
Q: What do you think about Mikasa Ackerman?
A: She's got a cool scarf. And saves Eren's butt a lot.
Q: What do you think about Armin Arlert?
I don't like his voice (referring to the dub). Other than that he's cool, and pretty smart.
Q: What do you think about Levi?
A: Who's that? (I tell him) Oh. Good leader. He always looks scary.
Q: How old do you think Levi is?
A: I don't know, 21?
Q: Who's your favorite character in the series, and why?
A: Potato girl (I'm guessing he doesn't know her name). Oh, and that crazy scientist too, I don't know he
Love.( x )Love.3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Have you ever realized that humans are SO fixated on love? Have you ever realized, that our whole lives, we're trying to find someone or something to love? Have you ever realized that it's our most powerful and impenetrable emotion?
We'd kill for love.
We'd sacrifice for love.
We'd give our lives for love.
We'd let ourselves perish so that someone who we love can survive.
We perform miracles through love. We come back to life because of love.
And when we die or when we're in a pinch, the person we loved flashes before our eyes.
This emotion is so powerful it can make us do things we never wanted to do. And we can't measure it. We can't quantify it. Who knew we'd be so attached to other beings, that literally across time and earth we are tied to those people? That the hearts are still connected.
So don't take this emotion so lightly. Don't play around with it, don't make it into some cheap idea. As said in the movie I

The 5 bullshit myths of concept art.Concept art is getting bigger and bigger. More people know what it is nowadays, it gets shown in the media more often and more books get released. This automatically results into more people wanting to become concept artists. So many artschools are now creating special courses all towards game art or concept art. (Game art can also include UI design, 3D modeling etc.).The 5 bullshit myths of concept art.11 months ago in Personal More Like This
Yet it is a fairly new thing to most people and the idea of "becoming a concept artist" has grown rapidly over such a short time that a lot of people who are new to it seem to get a lot of misguide info. I am going to try to list this misguided info and direct you to the correct info.
(Again I would always advise you to do your own research and form your own knowledge and not just simply agree with what you read online, not from anyone, not from me. Even though i'm right .. ofcourse. *wink *wink )

Overcome your unfair obstacles. We all have certain obstacles that gives us the feeling of: 'This is so unfair!.'Overcome your unfair obstacles.11 months ago in Personal More Like This
To me it's one of the most annoying feelings in the world because in general we don't really know how to deal with it. One little part of us says: 'Don't whine about it, you are just being jealous.' the other part of you tells you: 'If I didn't have this obstacle or disability I would rule the world!!'
So you bounce around anger, sadness, hopelessness and envy.
If you were just sad about something or simply angry it would be a lot easier to deal with, you cry or you just vent a bit towards a friend.
But how to deal with he feeling of unfairness?
There are many things that can form this unfair obstacle for you.
Physical obstacles such as: MS, Lyme disease, Arthritis, Color blindness, missing fingers?
Mental obstacles such as: Depression, being a procrastinator (yes I'm naming it because it's a mental blockade that keeps y

To be creative is a way of thinking. When you observe what’s around you, what are the things you pick up and store in your memory?
(Only look at this image for a few seconds and then scroll it out of the frame)
This was an image of the 2013 World photography awards.
I’ve just shown it to you for about 10 seconds. What do you still remember from it?
The pigeons that fly around? The fact that these pigeons were white? The notion of all the Blue in the image , so well in the building as in the clothing of the women. Or did you remember the two kids that seem to be the cause of the birds fleeing the scene.
Someone with an interest towards architecture probably lingered his eyes at the building and recognized it’s style culture and perhaps knows of it’s build method. While someone with an interes
How to deal with or get feedback.Getting feedback or critiques may be hard for people. How to deal with or get feedback.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Some people want it really bad but can't seem to get it, at least not from the people he/she is hoping for.
And other get it all the time but feel a little attacked or bullied by it.
Pretty much anyone with eyes and some intelligence is able to spot mistakes or irregularities in someone's work. This person doesn't have to be more skilled than you.
However, this person... might be wrong....
How do you judge a critique?
You initially made your artwork according to the knowledge you currently have. Leaving room for mistakes in the elements you're not trained or knowledgeable in. Or perhaps you think you know something and you are not aware that it's wrong.
When someone gives you feedback, even though it might feel incorrect. Take a little time to do some extra research on the matter.
You can ask others if they agree with someone's feedback.
You can search online (wit

A Brief Discussion On Limited PaletteA Brief Discussion On Limited PaletteA Brief Discussion On Limited Palette10 months ago in Art Features More Like This
We all know that temptation when we see a pretty new colour in the art-shop, or the urge to create a mesmerizing colourful artwork while planning a painting. We then use our favourite colour(s) in full force - by means of as much as we want - and we often have more than one favourite colour....
Aftermath: A muddy or unreal canvas! Colours do not look right and did not turn out exactly as it was in our mind - not even close and harmony is far away! It turned into a visual cacophony!
What might get wrong? A lot of things! But specially all those pretty colours you put at will!
It is not bad to paint with many colours - many big artists paint with more than 70 colours on their palette. Even we do not finish a painting in less than 10 colours - right? The difference is that the famous or big artists have mastered

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Anime & Manga half of this week!
Today Gwendolyn12 and me are going to explain the different categories of the Anime & Manga Gallery.
Since this Gallery has 2 different main categories the Gallery Overview is split in 2 articles.
In my article I will explain you our Digital Media category including the sub-categories. The Traditional Media category will be explained later by Gwendolyn12!
What is Anime & Manga?
Anime is based of the word Animation. These are Japanese animated productions usually featuring hand-drawn or computer animations. When you talk about an Animation in Manga style. That's Anime.
But what is Manga? With Manga you mainly mean a comic book created in Japan. But this word is used for regula

The world of crafting is fascinating and never ending. We have been crafting since the first human molded some mud into a pot, and a seemingly endless list of crafts has been created since. Some crafts are very well known, and you have probably dabbled a bit into them yourself... but some of them are a lot less known. I put some examples together, please enjoy them and leave a comment below letting us know how many of them you already knew if you know any unknown crafts, feel free to share them with us!
Extra credits if you already tried some of these!
Note: These are NOT totally obscure crafts that are only practiced in remote places of the world or that require specialized equipment, I chose crafts that should be easy enough to pick up but not a lot of people are doing.
1. Stone carving.
Incredible works of art can be made even from the humble common stone. Precious or semi-
Fast lane to becoming a better artist.I often get this very question: How did you get this good this fast?Fast lane to becoming a better artist.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Now as I consider myself not being as good as people tell me, even struggling quite often with being an artist in general.
I do know how to get better and how to reach it fast. I'm still growing as I go and it's the main thing that keeps me going.
You need to get into the right mindset and the rest will follow. With the rest I mean:
3. Positive energy.
4. The NEED to draw.
Seeing growth in your work gives you the courage to work harder. You know that feeling when you're just about done with an image
and feel like this image is better than your last one, that great feeling. Use it!
Do studies! Lots of them!! Make film shot studies, live object studies, master-painting studies. They will teach you a lot about composition, lighting, colors, shapes storytelling etc.
You will hardly notice that you are learning thing

Over the past few years, projecteducate has worked hard to provide educational articles for various art forms. Within literature, we've seen our fair share and over the past 2 years we've used our own group CRLiterature to manage these articles to ensure as much of the community can see them. However, sometimes we miss people and that's a shame because the articles we've written as a community have been pretty spectacular and still valid today.
So to help people pick up the articles they may have missed, here is a list of them all! This is a great chance for you to read what you may have missed, or tag your friends who may find them useful!

Why it's so important to unite as artists. We are with many though yet we are with few. We're all divided over little subgroups such as, fantasy illustrators, concept artists, comic book pencilers, photomanipers, techartists, anime drawers, realism sketchers etc. You might even find your place at multiple sections. Why it's so important to unite as artists.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I found that the biggest united groups on Deviant Art are mostly evolved around fan art, such as Sonic, or My little pony.
Observations aside, I think the good thing about those groups is that they serve for companionship. Being an artist all by yourself with no one to share/talk about/discuss your work with can feel rather lonely. And that lonely feeling is not encouraging at all. Most of us keep a lot of things taboo as well, like techniques or rates. If we were more openly with these the changes of being underpaid or missing out on a job because someone else does it for hardly any money at all will grow slimmer. People should know what they are worth and not be afraid to ask for it.

Mindful Meditation of Daily Drawing
Foreword by techgnotic
Gabriel Picolo is a graphic design student in Brazil who has provided at least two people—me and himself—a most compelling reason for getting out of bed every morning in 2014. He calls it the 365 Days of Doodles Project, for which he creates, each day, one of his wildly imaginative pencil sketch and ink drawings (quite a bit more elevated than a “doodle”—more like a free-flowing meditation).
