Love.( x )Love.7 months ago in Personal More Like This
Have you ever realized that humans are SO fixated on love? Have you ever realized, that our whole lives, we're trying to find someone or something to love? Have you ever realized that it's our most powerful and impenetrable emotion?
We'd kill for love.
We'd sacrifice for love.
We'd give our lives for love.
We'd let ourselves perish so that someone who we love can survive.
We perform miracles through love. We come back to life because of love.
And when we die or when we're in a pinch, the person we loved flashes before our eyes.
This emotion is so powerful it can make us do things we never wanted to do. And we can't measure it. We can't quantify it. Who knew we'd be so attached to other beings, that literally across time and earth we are tied to those people? That the hearts are still connected.
So don't take this emotion so lightly. Don't play around with it, don't make it into some cheap idea. As said in the movie I

Over the past few years, projecteducate has worked hard to provide educational articles for various art forms. Within literature, we've seen our fair share and over the past 2 years we've used our own group CRLiterature to manage these articles to ensure as much of the community can see them. However, sometimes we miss people and that's a shame because the articles we've written as a community have been pretty spectacular and still valid today.
So to help people pick up the articles they may have missed, here is a list of them all! This is a great chance for you to read what you may have missed, or tag your friends who may find them useful!

As mentioned in last week’s Beginnings of Site Simplification journal and the new DeviantArt Timeline, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how to make DeviantArt a simplified and unified experience — ultimately leading to increased participation from new and longtime deviants, adding more favourites, comments, and deviousness to the site as a whole.
Because DeviantArt has been around for nearly 15 years, we recognize that the site has accumulated a number of terms, words, and names for our various features and functions — some of which have multiple or similar meanings, and many of which increase confusion around how the site works.
We understand that DeviantArt is a community of artists from around the world who will use all kinds of creative expressions to descr
*RP Rules and EtiquetteWell now, it seems that a lot of people on DA, and across the internet for that matter, have a huge misconception about what Role Playing actually is, let alone the fact that they have no idea how to do it properly. Most of those who are clueless are children (under 18) who not only have no idea what they are doing, but also clearly had no proper instruction, or very bad instruction, on how to Role Play correctly, let alone proper Role Play etiquette. The rest of the clueless ones that are actually adults are one of four things: generally ignorant and need proper instruction, received bad instruction on how to RP, are arrogant jerks who think they are the center of the RP, or are drama queens seeking attention and will throw a childish tantrum if they don't get their way.*RP Rules and Etiquette3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Me, I usually like to give people the benefit of the doubt and try to give them proper instructions on how to RP correctly. As a lifetime RPer, from Live Action ReCreationism Role Play, to COStume PLAY, to Live Act

If you're comfortable in your sofa; comfortable in your computer chair enough to think eh, what do I care and why do I have to bother? it means you're lucky enough that other people before you have fought the system and ensured you can be carefree. Plenty countries in the world today where people personal, civil, social and human rights are gagged; ignored and beaten on.

Ramblings about 'internet fame'A lot of stuff has happened lately in life lately, and is has made me think about things, and about my perspective on it. One of those things, is the internet.Ramblings about 'internet fame'2 years ago in Personal More Like This
As some of you know, I'm a huge nerd. While as kid, I didn't had a computer at home, and I hated those damn machines because I wasn't able to work with them at all (so much fail T__T), I soon caught up when I got my first computer at age 14. And while most of my family expected me to end up as a hopeless internet addict, I soon started to learn myself how to program. The rest is history. With my 26th birthday, I also celebrated being a webprogrammer for 10 years already. Oh yeah, I'm getting old for sure.
The recent chain of events have caused me to think about the internet and it's role in life, however. When I first started out with art, I was only a little girl. Me, and both of my younger sisters, were all very creative. And we spend almost all of our time drawing at the kitchen table, while discussing about the characters we
Get Better At Drawing (Without Drawing Anything)Art is a process.Get Better At Drawing (Without Drawing Anything)4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Like that of the scientific method and philosophical alchemy, art can be refined and improved through process. From observation, to experiment, to reflection and conclusion, art is improved by the steps we make towards change, not solidification and stagnation. Much of the advice out there for drawing is simply practice or avoid distractions. This advice is good, but there is more to creation than just throwing yourself mindlessly into a task and avoiding bad habits along the way. Good habits and knowledge will help to excel your learning process faster, and from that, improve faster and more effectively.
Look at it
As an artist, observation is key. The skill we develop is not just seeing, but interpreting what we see, remembering what we have seen and recording it in the form of visual art. This is a skill that, aside from blindness or vision degradation, you will be able to improve during your entire life. The way of seeing from an art

Anyway, I just wanted to drop a line to let everyone know I haven't died. Not yet anyway. I've just been really busy working on Sonic the Hedgehog issue 260 pencil art. Drawing a whole issue is really hard... especially for me who has zilch experience with this stuff. I appreciate Paul's patience.
I was also dropping a line to anyone who is still waiting for me to finish their commission. I'm so sorry it's taken so long, literally years, to get your work to you. I can totally understand if you want a refund and you can send me and email if you do to chibijenhen at aol dot com and I'll get that to you. I'm only saying this because I have been assigned four issues of Sonic so that probably means I'll have zero time to work on that stuff and won't be getting it to you anytime soon, although I WILL FINISH THEM! I SWEAR IT! But if you are sick of waiting, and I can only understand if you are, then feel free to shoot me a line and c

I made a screenshot of my chatroom, cropped out certain areas and marked them with words
I'll write down some things about those areas and I'll try to include some tips as well.
So here we go.

Conquer your artblockI think every artist out here has experienced it at least one time in their career: the so called artblock. A moment of total lack of inspiration that suddenly hits you, and leaves you unable to create. Most often the solution is to just wait. Most artblocks will solve automatically with time. But there are circumstances in which an artblock doesn't automatically disappear, or when you have deadlines to catch. In that case, you might be helped by some basic tips to conquer your artblock.Conquer your artblock1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Over the years, I've experienced an artblock (or writersblock, as they call it for fiction writers) many, many times. Most of them were short, but the longest lasted over 2 years. Most of them solved on their own. But sometimes I just needed that little bit of extra help. Therefore, I made a list with a few tips and tricks to make your artblock go away. Hopefully it'll help you as well as it did me.
Beat your fear
Most artblocks come from fear. The fear of not being able to
WE ARE ALL CHILDRENWe think we are no longer children anymore that we grew up but that's not correct we are still children learning and making mistakes and getting hurt. A child will do what ever it takes to show and prove to the world that they are special , that they can do things no one can. That they are important. A child seeks more than anything to be noticed to have someone's attention to be treated like they are important. It's why kids look up to adults so much , they wanted to get older so everyone would treat them with respect , so everyone would really listen to them when they spoke not just nod their heads or ignore them , so everyone would ask for their opinions and make them feel like it matters. That's what a child wants so much and does the most weirdest bizarre things thinking itll help him be noticed that finally someone will say hey that kid can jump really high they are special or hey that girl dresses like an actual princess she might be important. What the hell is wrong with some people creating so many absurd bills like SOPA/PIPA and now this ACTA? (that particularly is scaring the hell out of me) >_<
About Piracy I totally agree with Neil Gaiman in this Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Qkyt1wXNlI
If sharing means piracy, then each one of you that has ever lent a book, a DVD, a Game or something else from a friend ARE ALL PIRATES! The only difference from normal sharing is that internet makes it grow to a global scale.
Has SOPA been put down or delayed? Keep your eyes open, please. Governments tend to wait until people forget things to act freely again. Or even try to put the same bill up but with a different sponsor and name.
But that ACTA does REALLY take the cake in matter of being ABSURD!!!
The things I read about it made me really pissed of. I see it more like a way the Governments will make use of to NOT LET THE COMMONERS LIKE US TO H

My Deviantart StoryI know these are everywhere but I think it's really awesome idea!My Deviantart Story1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
So my story started back in October of 2009 that was the beginning of my Sophomore year of high school. Someone I had met in my photography class had talked to me about art and he was like hey you'd really like this site called DeviantArt a lot of awesome artists were on it. And I checked it out and was like hell yeah I need to do this. Maybe I can be an artist. I had this whole period of my life where I really wanted to make video games. Live the dream work for Square Enix or Nintendo. Make Final Fantasy 20 you know that kind of thing. Then I came here and I was like holy shit I am not worthy of calling myself a real artist compared to these people. I could like mostly draw what I was looking at and keep it mostly proportional. But I couldn't do poses, or shading, or free hand draw anything very well. And I loved art but I didn't believe in myself or push myself enough to live that dream. I was moth mathmatical anyway s

10 Tips to Improve your Digital ArtA while ago I posted some tips on how to improve your art. While that article was rather general, this one is an addition to it, focusing on digital drawing and painting – so make sure to read both.10 Tips to Improve your Digital Art8 months ago in Art Features More Like This
It's made for beginners, so it's just really basic stuff. I hope it's helpful!
1. Get a tablet
Of course there are artists who create beautiful pictures with a mouse, but trust me, drawing with a graphics tablet is more natural and a lot easier once you're used to it.
Tablets have one big advantage over mouses: Pen pressure. Depending on how hard you press the line gets thicker and darker or thinner and lighter, similar to a real pen on real paper. I'd recommend getting a small, cheap Wacom tablet to start out.
Also make sure your tablet always has the newest drivers installed! You can download them on the Wacom website.

Anime and manga: a booming industry in many parts of the the world. The beautiful and unique style of art and its exquisite stories enticed many readers and captured many young artist's hearts. This is how I started drawing; my love for manga and anime led me to a love of drawing. But like any abilities, good skills do not come overnight; and they don't come no matter how long you sit and wait for them.
I've hit a roadblock in my advancement so I decided to ask my favorite manga artists their own personal experience. It turned out, many of them had difficulties that I'm currently countering. Their advices are most helpful, and I hope you find them helpful too.

Why it's so important to unite as artists. We are with many though yet we are with few. We're all divided over little subgroups such as, fantasy illustrators, concept artists, comic book pencilers, photomanipers, techartists, anime drawers, realism sketchers etc. You might even find your place at multiple sections. Why it's so important to unite as artists.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I found that the biggest united groups on Deviant Art are mostly evolved around fan art, such as Sonic, or My little pony.
Observations aside, I think the good thing about those groups is that they serve for companionship. Being an artist all by yourself with no one to share/talk about/discuss your work with can feel rather lonely. And that lonely feeling is not encouraging at all. Most of us keep a lot of things taboo as well, like techniques or rates. If we were more openly with these the changes of being underpaid or missing out on a job because someone else does it for hardly any money at all will grow slimmer. People should know what they are worth and not be afraid to ask for it.
When I joined Deviant Art
