As he encourages his people
The fatal battlecry
"Long live the Republic!"
Flows like blood through
War-torn Rue de la Chanvrerie.
Hands uplifted, reaching for a better future
Through gunpowder smoke and grime.
The last barricade is crushed
The tavern, the last haven,
Shelters the dead and dying.
He alone is unscathed
As the first ignoble King's soldiers
Break down the door and surround him.
At first, his hopeless defiance repels them--
They move back, unable to shoot.
He stands, backed against the brick wall
--no escape, but that is not his wish.
"Fire!" calls the guilty voice
And bullets pierce his heart.
Unafraid, courageous to the last,
Even in death they cannot force him to his knees.
As blood soaks his shirt
He closes his eyes, still undefeated
He still stands.
My Demonic Ghost- Page oneCHAPTER ONE: PAGE ONEMy Demonic Ghost- Page one4 years ago in Settings More Like This
I use to not fear death but now it follows me behind every turn. I was nervous. Visibly nervous, my fingers didn't let my luggage handle go since the beginning of the trip. It must've been nearly two years ago when I last rode the Whitehaven train alone.
It was a two hour trip with the clattering and whinging of train wheels rolling over their tracks. But now I hardly noticed, I hardly noticed anything anymore. My eyes were glued to the endless passing of water down below, its navy glow reflecting off the orange and faded pink tinge spread across the sky. The sun, it was setting, tucking itself back into its slumber behind the lips of the far mountains. I had lingered on the edge of sleep through most of the trip.
My hard case luggage rocked against me as the slither of the train ducked its head into a nest of hills and houses. The stretch of endless blue sea vanished without a moment's notice as I entered the mouth of the tunnels. The silence of the v

The sky was a perfect shade of blue. It was entirely one solid color, with no clouds or fog to discolor the intense shade. It seemed to stretch out forever, but it eventually connected with the dark indigo of the ocean's horizon. There were no waves, just a slow, steady rocking. It was calm, peaceful, and still.
An impressive ship rested motionless on the water. A young man stood upon the deck, his arms rested on the railing as he stared at the deep pool below. It reminded him of how that very same water had nearly claimed his life many years ago.
The young man was quite tan from many days out in the open sea. He had messy blonde hair which had gotten longer over the years, so he had a strand tied back into a miniature ponytail. His chin was unshaved,

An announcer came out from the curtains,
"Hello readers, Mr. John has asked me to give you just a friendly word of warning: We are about to unfold the story of Niall James Horan, a man of music who turned into another being after his own image without reckoning. It is one of the strangest tales ever told. It deals with the three great mysteries of creation; life, food, and death. I think it will thrill you. It may make you cry. It might even horrify you. So, if any of you feel that you don't care to subject your nerves to such a strain, now's your chance to-", the announcer suddenly got zapped from Kevin.
"Let me finish this for you!" Kevin said with a evil laugh and looks at the reader(you), "Well we warned you!" Kevin finished the statement with an evil grin.

It was a wonderful day in New York: the sun was warm and shining, skies were clear and the air was crisp and cool. Almost everybody was out and about in the lovely weather. It was the perfect day to go for a walk or to catch up with friends. And yet… (Y/n) was sitting lazily on a couch… in the penthouse of Stark Tower… eating a packet of ice-cream. She couldn't be bothered doing anything else. Today was her lazy day.
A soft ding from the elevator on the other side of the room served as a short notice that its doors would open. They slid open, just as predicted, revealing the red hair and determined look of the woman behind them.
"Hey, Nat, what's up?" (Y/n) asked as Natasha walked purposefully from the elevator and into the room.
"We gotta get dressed," she replied, walking over to the couch and picking up a bag that lay beside it. "Blizzard decided he'd try and terrorise Central Park again."
"Alright," (Y/n) sighed grudgingly, putting
The shack by the seaThe shack by the sea2 years ago in Scraps More Like This
The roar of the waves is deafening in my ears and I sigh- my element.
I close my eyes, salty sea air filling my nostrils and my senses reaching out, feeling the rough sea rock beneath me, wind whipping my hair and clothing back- a light spray sprinkling my outstretched arms.
This was the place of dreams. As others dream of unicorns and mermaids and solid clouds I dream of the ocean, the rocks, the soft sand of the beach or the crumble of a cliff. And here I am.
Once a year I come here as my summer vacation, the best gift I could ever have.
To others a dreary falling apart shack is nothing, but to me I’d never be anywhere else in the universe if I could.
I love the whistling wind and the crashing waves and the way the rocks bite into my bare feet, a brilliant tan against the dark gray ground.
The smell is home and the brooding clouds are a loving hug.
One day I was to join it permanently as ash, carbon being all that’s left of my once living body. And it isn’t that bad

I'll never give you a pretty smile,
Never again will I try to hide.
You've ruined my teenage dreams,
But I wont let you ruin my pride.
I've woken up and cant be calmed,
I have a demon deep inside.
Don't you tell me to calm down,
I've been calm for too long.
I have the right to raise my voice,
I will sing my own song.
You go ahead and try to stop me,
Tell me that I'm wrong.
Go ahead and try to silence me,
But I wont stay where I don't belong.
Scream at me, tell me I'm crazy,
Don't you think I know already?
Scream at me, tell me I'm crazy,
But I've got a dream holding me steady.
Swing at me, make things hazy,
Don't worry about me, I know I'm ready.
Swing at me, make things hazy,
But I've got a dream holding me steady.
Roles (Sam Winchester x Reader)You had been dating/hunting with the moose for about two years now, both knowing you were practically made for each other. Though, the tension in the air was so much, you could even dare to say you were able to physically feel it. And it was damn thick. Anyways, this had to be done; you knew it all too well. 'The Thing' was actually happening. You tried to breath in as much as you could the hard tensed air. It was now or never.
Sam and you had actually talked about this, and even made a deal...and a motherfucking plan. However there was something way different in your mind.
You weren't actually the tomboy one, neither the 'tops' -if you know what I mean- and even less a 'Dom' in your relationship, but this just felt kinda right. I mean, you tried to take in every detail. This had to be it.
Almost a whole minute passed, when you felt Sam relax a little from the tensed, awkward state he was in before. Now was the time. With your experience you c

At the moment, Loki was straddling your hips on the plush red couch in Stark Tower. The Avengers were scattered on different floors or out on simple missions, leaving you to deal with the up-to-no-good God. Loki grinned darkly down at you and you swore if looks could kill, the God of Mischief would be no more. "Don't. You. Dare. Loki." You hissed out. This is what I see through eyes I can’t shut
And this very colour flows through each vein
Everyone looks the same inside, but
In their souls they are like me, we all cause pain
This is the natural state of the world
I hate the weak and prey on the strong
Every great plan fails before it is unfurled
I will see this through, I will kill every wrong
This is how things will be when I’m done
With no one left there will be no death
I only scare them because I've already won
My blade has a hypocrite as its sheathe
We're Fine. She'll lie, though truth to her...We're Fine.2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
No matter how hard she falls,
how far she goes insane.
She'll lie to you....
"Are you okay?"
The saddest words, so many don't even see.
She's lying to you,
she doesn't want you to feel her pain.
Her souls failing her,
though she's 'fine'.
Can't you tell in her dull eyes,
She's full of those lies...
"I'm fine, honest."
And all you say is "Okay."
'Cause you just believed her words.
Why not, you don't expect your friends to lie...
I lie to you...
Say things that aren't true...
I say the same things....
Just to push the pain down...
Why should someone suffer with me?
I'm falling so far down,
I'm bleeding on the inside,
so much self hate.
But you know,
"I'm fine, I'm not broken, I'm not hurt,
You don't see my scars, or where I've burnt myself."
Everyone believes those words "I'm fine..."
Sadly, who expects it.
It's okay though,
cause I didn't want to make anyone feel low...
But when I finally decide I'll need you,

Missing PersonsI live in a world of fear.Missing Persons2 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
I am not the only one who is afraid; no, every person here fears the night, if not for themselves then for someone they love. Mothers fear for their children, husbands for their wives, children for their sisters and brothers. No one fears for their friends; no one has friends anymore. No one dares.
It wasn’t always this way. I remember days before the fear, before the world was so paralyzed with its own terror that it forgot how to live. I remember walking through a park after sunset just for the pleasure of it. I remember being late for an appointment without anyone beginning to plan my Memorial. I remember life before people began to disappear.
It started slowly, coming on so gradually that it’s hard to say when it became normal for people to vanish on their way to the grocery store, or while walking the dog. Suddenly it was completely ordinary to see houses fall derelict, their owners mysteriously vanished somewhere beyond our reach.
