Attempt to create an About Screen for Inkscape. The idea was to reproduce the looks of an old ad for Higgin's Eternal Black Ink and, while keeping that old-print look, convey the necessary info.

I don't think the outcome was bad, but it could be refined.

Update: changed "The vector is stronger than the bitmap" by "the vector is mightier than the bitmap". These things happen when you don't really speak enghlish.

Tea
This was plus a drawing made in Inkscape 0,45 using effect Gissian Blur “new effect” is only vector, does not have image, nothing of images, vector only using the maximum of the Effect leaving the drawing with the possible aspect most real…

They forgive my bad English :P

First off... do I have to say it? Fullview!!

Done in Inkscape and took somewhere between 15-25 hours... who can keep track of time when "in the zone", and w/ work broken up over a 3 week period. UPDATE: Yeah right... I can't stop working on it and usually do for about 10 mins a day or so. This deviation will be updated occasionally to reflect the changes.

This picture was inspired by and done with reference from Sinessa by - * emshae. (was used as reference with her permission)

My latest Inkscape picture, did it today :) Turned out rather well in my opinion, except the clouds (although supposed to be simple, which they certainly are) in which I failed horribly. Oh well :P I couldn't think of any good title, so I just made that up. It's play on finnish words Kuutamo (meaning moonscape) and Puu (a tree).

Comments more than welcome! Thanks! :D

This image began as an experiment to see what was possible using the new Blur feature of the upcoming version of Inkscape. Ever since I first read about the feature, I've wanted to give it a try on some Volumetric Lighting. This is my attempt to vectorize chilsta of flickr's "Jaq".

It's amazing how one single feature can so affect the possibilities and design process. Blur in Inkscape opens up a whole new slew of artistic techniques for experimentation, and infinitely expands the abilities one has to shade.

As I added element upon element of blurred light, Inkscape really started slowing down. I can say with pride that by the time I was done it this feature was definitely put through its paces. ;)

Rendering the "high quality" final version of the vector took over a minute for 900x600px! :devilish:

Enjoy! :D

Here's the bitmap render of my entry for the Inkscape 0.45 About Screen Contest. I used the new blur feature (love it!) to create a perspective with a strong depth of field often seen in photography. The glossy rendition of the inkscape logo is prominent, embossed in a fogged-glass stationary. The "Draw Freely." text was a handwriting font that i later revised by adding ink splotches to the image.

Suggestions and comments are greatly appreciated; revisions may take place accordingly. ;)

Esse desenho foi criado no Inkscape, rodando no Debian Lenny, é um estilo que eu não costumo usar, foi feito só com traços e preenchimentos...

I love Inkscape...:)
