Today we are interviewing Seniors who have been Community Volunteers in the past
We've all wondered at some point in our DA life "what does it take to become a Senior?" And when we read the official answer on :faq29: We see that there are many reasons for it, but all of those reasons talk about a positive contribution to the community. Well, today :iconSserenita: and :iconTheGalleryOfEve: sat down with some of those former Community Volunteers who are now Senior Members, to talk to them and see how they view Seniority from their perspective. Our interviewees are :iconastralseed:, :iconmaytel:, :iconrydi1689:, :iconthiefoworld:, :icontiganusi: and :iconTommyGK:
How do you feel about Seniority in general?
This is kind of difficult to answer because I don't feel like there is any one feeling attached to seniority. Seniority is a really cool thing and I am happy to be a part of it, but I also realize that it's n

edit: We need more hoodies! So where is your entry??
Don't be so shy. And you can hide your face if you want, that's ok.
A while ago Nyx-Valentine and I decided that we need to do it again. Grab any hoodie near you (if you don't have something use any other kind of head covering or be creative) and get your photo done!
Let's see if we can beat the amount of 82 entries from last time.
What are you waiting for?

Happy Birthday DeviantART! Welcome to WonderlandHappy Birthday DeviantART!1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
I find myself delighted to lay my rather large eyes on you. A purrfectly delicious mystery awaits you. Won't you come this way?
I've been a bad kitty-- a very naughty, naughty feline, indeed. You see, today is Alice's Unbirthday, and all the inhabitants of Wonderland had planned to join her and the Mad Hatter for tea and cake. But, the Mad Hatter, being quite a bit off his rocker, is requiring that everyone wear a hat to the party. Anyone without a hat cannot attend.
Whoops! Mysteriously, *smile* all the hats in Wonderland have gone missing. What a shame, what a shame. Whatever shall we do?
I know what we shall do. You and I, stranger, we shall go to the party together. I hear the cake is delicious this year, and there will be plenty for us.
Except, wait! HA! You cannot!!! You have no hat, either! I suppose you'll have to stay here, too, then. Very well. Goodbye.

Contest: Fan Art NouveauHello, everyone! It's time for another Fan Art contest. This time, we're asking participants to create Fan Art in Art Nouveau style.Contest: Fan Art Nouveau1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
What is Art Nouveau?
"Art Nouveau (French pronunciation: [aʁ nuvo], Anglicised to /ˈɑːrt nuːˈvoʊ/) or Jugendstil is an international philosophy and style of art, architecture and applied art—especially the decorative arts—that was most popular during 1890–1910. English uses the French name Art nouveau ("new art"), but the style has many different names in other countries. A reaction to academic art of the 19th century, it was inspired by natural forms and structures, not only in flowers and plants, but also in curved lines. Architects tried to harmonize with the natural environment.
Art Nouveau is considered a "total" art style, embracing architecture, graphic art, interior design, and most of the decorative arts including jewellery, furniture, textiles, household sil

The usual way to submit a journal to a group is via the groups platform.
Therefor go to your group and click at the "Journal" tab, to get to the journals page. There you can find the "+ New Blog Entry" button at the top left .
If you click that you will get an empty form for your new journal entry. From there you can write down all the latest information, can choose the category it should be added to and can add a skin (Super Group status is required for that).
Once you have added all needed information, codes and did fill out the form correctly, you can now submit your journal.
Journals submitted via a group can not be added to the journal section of other groups. Only to their galleries.
Submit a Group Journal via Sta.sh
Go to Sta.sh and prepare the journal you want to submit. Write down all information and maybe add a
PE: Custom Widgets[deviantART related]PE: Custom Widgets1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
While deviants always have been able to customize their profile a bit more with the help of stamps, buttons, dividers and other fancy graphics, it is also possible to style the widgets via HTML & CSS.
But you can just work with what is already part of the deviantART website code only. You can't add new code like you would do at your journals. This means you are always limited with what you can do and don't have full control over the elements and how they appear.
The simpliest way of customizing your widgets would be by adding a background. As these can't be a pattern that get repeated on their own, the background images need to cover any possible width and height. If you do your own images you can adjust the height to what is needed, to avoid that the overall size gets too big, though.

Here at CRCommunityProjects, we care about you and the community!
Welcome to our own project, the Mentoring Project!
This project aims to pair users who are experienced with projects and certain communities within dA.
There are many benefits to utilizing the mentoring program! Getting a mentor will help you learn more about your art community niche and how to set up projects and promote them effectively; becoming a mentor will help you do something wonderful for the community. Involving yourself in this project will hopefully lead to many lasting friendships!
This project, however, does not serve to be an art tutor style mentoring project, rather it focuses on the creation on projects, features, contests, groups, and resources!

Most of us know that deviantART has a big official forum, where you can go to talk about various things. But are you aware of the forum widget as well?
It is your own personal forum that you can add to your profile or journal page to interact with your watchers or random visitors.
Only Premium Members can make use of it though. As a non PM deviant you can still see the widget in the list, but you won't be able to install and use it.
The upper image shows you what you will see as a deviant without a PM and below is what you get as a premium member (minus maybe existing threads).
Threads can either be started by yourself or by said vistors and watchers. And of course you can comment on older threads that are not started by you as well. Just like you can do at a regular forum.
Project Educate: Getting involved in 2014Now that our first Community Week of 2014 is about to get started, it's time to do another blog introducing the ways in which you can get involved in the group this year. A lot of people have found that projecteducate gives them a great platform to have their already awesome articles noticed. This is very true! projecteducate not only helps educate the community through what you write, but also gives you a chance to have your artistic voice heard. At the time of writing this blog we have over 1,200 members and over 2,000 watchers. This means that the blogs we submit go out to hundreds of people. So why not use this method of communication to share your knowledge, tips and insights?Project Educate: Getting involved in 20142 years ago in Art Features More Like This

Hello! I'm Pwassonne, and today I'll be writing about pack deviations. Packs are the easiest way to distribute multiple files in one deviation. They consist of an archive file (often ZIP) with several images or other files in it. Packs are often used to distribute stock images, such as brushes and textures, as well as wallpapers and emoticons. They can also be used to post tutorials if said tutorials don't fit in a single file or if resources are included. Since packs make it possible to include several files in a single deviation, they are also great for selling Premium Content.
Whether you're selling a pack of files as Premium Content or distributing it for free, you will probably want it to look good, so that people want to download it, and you will also want to make it practical and easy to use, so that people who download it find it useful. How do you do this? Here are five simple tips to get your pack dev

Samsung Galaxy S3
Many people dismiss photos taken with a cellphone as "myspace shots" and don't classify drawings made from smartphones as art. I've compiled this article to (hopefully) change your perspective on that!
With touchscreen smartphones advancing every day, several artists have taken this opportunity to explore their talent while on the go! I've seen so many brilliant photos captured with cellphones and excellent drawings made with smartphones - some of them even made with their fingers and no stylus! It astonishes me that despite the limited size of their environment (ex: 3.5 by 4 inch screens), I have seen artists create absolutely breath-taking masterpieces!

Below I've featured some of these cellphone photos and digital drawings found on deviantArt
Epilepsy Awareness Day March 26th 2013The Purple TruthEpilepsy Awareness Day March 26th 20132 years ago in Art Features More Like This
March 26, known to the epileptic community as Purple Day, is a day to promote understanding and teach others the signs of epilepsy and seizures. As one of the most common neurological conditions in the world, directly affecting 65 million people globally, and with 1 out of 10 people having suffered a seizure in their lifetime, this condition has a real presence in our lives. What is epilepsy though?
Epilepsy is defined as a medical condition that produces seizures affecting a variety of mental and physical functions. Normal brain function is made possible by millions of tiny electrical charges passing between nerve cells in the brain and to all parts of the body. When someone has epilepsy, this normal pattern may be interrupted by intermittent bursts of electrical energy that are much more intense than usual.
A seizure, a symptom of epilepsy, occurs when a brief, strong sur
