ELLO, and welcome to this contest dedicated to my wonderful little 8 year old
bro who is growing in the art of art. This is going to be fun and my little brther
has no idea I'm doing this. So when I'm done I'm going to show all the entries to
him and he'll love every one of them and probably will talk about it for weeks.
It's all going to be worth it because I know he'll get his silly little grin on his face
and wont be able to control himself.
The theme for this contest as you probably already know, is drawing my little
bros characters. There are three to chose from and all you have to do is make a
swell picture of that character and enter it!
IT HAS TO BE APPROPRIATE. This is for an eight year old so use your head
and it'll be easy.
You can have three entries. Though if you're doing three you need to make each pi

The grand city of Taitle, once bustling with life and thought and steam-powered inventions, stands deserted save for the stray passing inventor salvaging scrap metal from its workings and a stubborn old man http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb2/Sins-of-Angels/Oldmansketch.jpg who has lived on the same plot of land his ancestors have all his life. He didnt mind the old abandoned buildings, the winding Victorian architecture that was crumbling in places, or the almost rhythmic release of steam from street vents. No one knew where the vents went, or why they were there, or even how to properly begin to repair the citys maze of architecture to make it living again, but the vents are there, leading to nowhere, and the city is there, and had, at one point, worked for the people in it. All it works for now, o

you are loved.
Don't ever forget that;
You are loved.
You are important.
You matter in someone's life.
You have so much value- so much that it is immeasurable- incomparable- so much more than I can express in words.
You are worth so much.
It must not mean much coming from someone that you don't know-
but please keep this in mind;
YOU ARE SO VALUABLE.
YOU ARE LOVED.
YOU ARE IMPORTANT.
If ever you feel down,
just do something that makes you happy-
draw, write, watch something that makes you smile.
Or even just try smiling.
I don't know any of you or if you are religious or anything- but I am praying for you.
I want you to be happy, more than anything in the world.
Whatever fight you are fighting, whatever battle you are facing- please don't give up.
I cannot predict the future, nor am I certain,

Okay so this is a very important journal ( i understand that it's long) and i would like all of you to share/read/etc. because i feel like this problem has gotten out of hand.
I'm sure recently you guys have heard of this actually. Fellow writers/readers, have been finding stolen work from DA on other writing sites. Many of us DA writers have had our work stolen; not only that, the work is claimed to be their own, and there are many comments afterwards such as "oh i cried while writing this" or "this is a request from a reader" when they put no effort whatsoever. A few days ago, a person had basically mass stolen works from about 10 authors--it wasn't just one from each author either, it was about 3 or 4. Good friends of mine had their work plagiarized word for word. And the worst part is that we have no knowledge this is happeni

But what goes with an emotional fic better than ugly tears and spilled tea?
Those of you who are seeking beautiful songs to match a fic that pulls at those heart strings, I have got it all for you!
Commercial KatsuA lot of these pieces are from emotional anime that I have seen and cried really hard to, so you will get to learn a bit about me today~
Here is a list of songs that I find gorgeous and use when I'm writing emotional fics:

Every single day im seeing constant injustice, constant racism, constant MISUNDERSTANDING.
It annoys me to no end. How in the world can you judge a culture, a race, a another whole REGION of human beings by a few terribly researched and portrayed news anchors? How in the WORLD can you hate an entire culture, race, ethnicity or judge an entire chunk of people without knowing them at all?
Since when have we gotten to the point, that we don't even give them a chance? That we've dehumanized those who are different from us.
Nobody said you had to agree; you were born obviously in a different mini world of your own. But these people have families, homes, friends, they joke with eachother, they play catch with their child, they smile at their grandmother, they eat breakfast, they watch the sunrise.
We are all human, and we all do almost the same things every single day. We are NOT that different, and if

She wanted to write something beautiful.
Something that escaped off the edges of her paper and eloquently danced to the guileless breath of life. Something that arose as a child's lullaby and flourished like the ruffles of a wedding dress cascading upon marble floor. Something that was as gentle as the brush of a mother’s soft digits, but as profound as rebelling adamantly against adversity. Something that induced goosebumps upon the unmarred skin of naïve readers. In a way, that those unmarked souls become tainted with the unrivaled will to live. Something...something...just something...like the intimate, familiar scent of one’s home, something like holding a newborn baby, something like the fragility of broken glass and the split of open, defenseless skin, exposed and crying with crimson tears.
She wanted the words to peel off her skin, to ingrain into the wooden chair, to whisper into the petals of her f

"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light." -Dylan Thomas
You blink, and suddenly it's the new year. The images of the last 365 days flutter before your eyes, and all at once you get a flurry of pain, happiness, laughter, or bitterness against your tongue. Regrets or disappointments may flash before your eyes. The feeling of heartbreak, or emotional scars that reopen at the remembrance.
And you wish you can change things. And maybe you wish you were stronger, or had the strength to fight yourself.
One tiny difference in your decision, may have transformed your world.
What if only you had mo
Focus on your OWN pathWe often look at others, and see that they're either: more religious, more successful, richer, smarter, etc. But I've come to realize this after countless occurrences in my own life, that we really need to focus on our OWN path. We see others and then we look at our self and then we try hard to be like others.Focus on your OWN path3 months ago in Personal More Like This
But that's the thing, we were made different on purpose. There's a reason why you're not them. Yes, it's good to gain inspiration from everybody. Maybe take some of their good points, the things they are doing right. But don't try to be like them.
The path you are taken is unique. It's your own. You can mold it the way you want, and the way you shape your path will be different from someone else. But it doesn't mean you're wrong and it doesn't mean they're right. Sometimes different paths can lead to the same goal right?
And focus on your heart. Focus on who YOU want to be. Not what someone else wants to be.

This group focuses on encouraging artists.
As I have to have a major operation next week and would prefer not to temporarily close the group, :icondboland2012:, one of our talented members, has very kindly volunteered to take over in my absence, which I appreciate more than words can say and I am sure the members will appreciate it too.
Due to a very persuasive member, I have opened a new folder for 3D objects, which do not require a background, over painting or textures.
Another feature of amazing artworks from our very talented members, which I hope everyone will enjoy as much as I do and be inspired by. Our membership is steadily growing and is now approaching 3,640 and our galleries as I always write, contain even more amazing and inspirational art, which is well worth viewing as well as adding to your .

Have you ever realized that humans are SO fixated on love? Have you ever realized, that our whole lives, we're trying to find someone or something to love? Have you ever realized that it's our most powerful and impenetrable emotion?
We'd kill for love.
We'd sacrifice for love.
We'd give our lives for love.
We'd let ourselves perish so that someone who we love can survive.
We perform miracles through love. We come back to life because of love.
And when we die or when we're in a pinch, the person we loved flashes before our eyes.
This emotion is so powerful it can make us do things we never wanted to do. And we can't measure it. We can't quantify it. Who knew we'd be so attached to other beings, that literally across time and earth we are tied to those people? That the hearts are still connected.
So don't take this emotion so lightly. Don't play around with it, don't make it into some cheap idea. As said in the movie I

I wish life was like a perfect ending to a series--be it anime or TV. Where after much hardship, everybody is in their rightful place, smiling happily where it may take them. I wish we had an epilogue, an inspiring ending song, and a soft smile to close the chapter. I wish we really could have a happily ever after, where life stops testing us, stops beating us over the head, and lets us live.
But, life isn't like that. And in turn, although those images may be ideal, we must realize we all have little endings in our lives. When you graduate high school, when you break up with a friend or s/o, when you leave a band, or move away. When you finally decided what you want to do, when you graduate college, and so on. We all have tiny places where everything finally seems to be okay, but just like those tv series, we have to survive the trials and tribulations in order to smile freely on the other side.

you're fuckin weird,
you know that? fuckin

the only time i like you
is when you're asleep,

sweat or starve out of me,
i'll have to write and it will
see i've often thought about
placing my head in the pestle

grind out the hell inside, become
a red pulp on the worktop, and
even the oven keeps tutting at me,
it's so easy, just open the door
stick your hand in, feel his forked
tongue on your palm,
orange lover, you
and it's true
that the dead are never really
silent, they grunt and they groan
in their damp soil sheets,

observation and imaginationTL;DR: Learn by drawing from real life, so you can more convincingly, creatively and beautifully draw from your imagination (and/or from life).observation and imagination2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Beginner artists often obsess about being unable to draw well from imagination. If you try to improve your art skills only by drawing from imagination, it may take you in some very interesting (or possibly frustrating) directions. If you want to draw realistically from your imagination, you should probably start your journey with many many hours of drawing from real life (and to a lesser degree photos and other resources.)
Artists who are searching for advice, sometimes regard the suggestions "practice" and "draw from life" as too simple, too boring, too vague, or somehow insulting or dismissive. However, for more experienced artists who are giving this advice, it may simply be the clearest and most obvious path to improvement. More specific guidance may not be be possible when what you need to improve is "everything". If y
