My Creature of DarknessOh, my beautiful companion,My Creature of Darkness6 months ago in Free Verse More Like This
How you sit at my window and stare in at me.
Your endlessly blackened eyes fill my mind
As you keep watch and wait for my clock to strike.
At times you become so impatient,
But you refuse to ever leave me.
I am drawn to you with a deeply wicked longing.
My little beast,
Your glossed feathers grow a sickly sheen in the fading light.
You see every inch of my soul
And every dark thought that dares cross my mind.
You feed on them.
Everyone else fears you,
But I am fascinated by your will.
Intrigued by your creativity and dangerous wit.

Flits around in my dreams just out of my reach.
I have a sickened need to dance with you.
I can already hear the music and it swells.

In this pure moment, now is all we're made of.
Tell me then my dear, what are you afraid of?

But it was made of promises, and angels
That were too fragile to hold the weight of our sins.
You were my goddess, on a throne made of dreams.
Which you were probably
They didn't glimmer and shine
like the diamonds decorating your rings.
They were the hopes of a man
So madly in love, but you poured poison into his heart
And so he rotted, each time you gifted him with a kiss.

An arm draped across my shoulder
And diagonally down my back
Resting at my waist.
Just that momentary squeeze
With my arms around his waist
Nestling my head against his chest
And I was happy.
He told me later he had butterflies
But for me, it had never felt so right.
