7 Days Drawing Challenge FeatureThe 7 Days Drawing challenge ended last Wednesday and now it's time for features!7 Days Drawing Challenge Feature1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Thank you very much everyone who joined the challenge. It's interesting to see how this challenge required mostly creativity and determination rather than just art skill. Congratulations to all of those who managed to finish, I'm very proud to see that many of you did
As promised, I chose 7 of my favorite projects and I'll reward them with a free request doodle by me! Here they are (be sure to check out their galleries!!):
I've chosen :iconreenacat: and :iconarbitrary-means: to win the 200 points!
(Thanks again stargirl143 for the points!)
My deviantART StoryMy deviant story is not one of the longest, I'm here since January 24th. As you may already know, I have started 2014 with the objective of drawing 1 doodle a day. For the whole year. (:My deviantART Story1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
My first deviation, doodle #1
Everything started as a very personal project on my Instagram account. I admit I was a bit afraid of joining dA and submitting my project in here.
In part, that was because I don't think I can express myself in English as well as I can with my main language - which is Portuguese. Another reason was that I came across deviantART through very famous deviations so I used to see dA as a fancy art gallery, not as a digital community.
guess which artwork first got me into dA? Yep, Yuumei's Countdown.
I was on high school when I discovered this site. It took me some time to figure out how deviantART really worked.
How to draw during 365 daysHow to draw during 365 days11 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
By the beginning of 2014 I started this account and uploaded a doodle a day during a year. It was the most challenging thing I ever did and it helped me loads on improving my art.
I've seen a lot of mentions on my inbox about artists that are starting their own 365 Days challenge and I want to write this journal to share what I've learned through my experience and maybe encourage some of you to join this long term journey.
It's okay to start simple!
My first doodles were waaay more simple than the other ones. If I had to start the project again I would still do them simple. Of course, starting this challenge is very exciting but it's a dead end if you put a heavy load on yourself at the beginning!
Focus on knowing your pace first. How much time does it take you to finish your drawings?

Color Inspiration - RedHello again!Color Inspiration - Red6 months ago in Art Features More Like This
This is the first of a 7 part journal about colors. I'll take the opportunity of the 7 Days Color Challenge to share some material I've been gathering recently.
Hope you find this interesting for either the challenge or future projects. ^_^
Red has more personal associations than any other color. Recognized as a stimulant, red is inherently exciting. Red draws attention, so a keen use of red as an accent can immediately focus attention on a particular element. (shout out to extroverted people, that's your color (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*)
Red is particularly interesting because it's on both ends of the emotional spectrum. On one end there's passion and love and on the other there's danger, fear and anger. I'm wondering which of these emotions you most associate with the color red. ^^
It's the first color bab

Being an inspiration within the communityCommunity WeekBeing an inspiration within the community11 months ago in Personal More Like This
DeviantArt is an incredibly large community, and to many of us it's easy to feel that we cannot have an impact within it, without being incredibly popular, or having a special 'status' such as Senior, or by being a Community Volunteer. As natural as this thought might be, however, it is quite wrong. There are so many ways to be an inspiration within the community, and in this article I will describe a few key ones.
Compiling art features and posting them through your journals is one of the easiest ways to start trying to inspire and influence the community. There is so much art on DeviantArt, and so many artists deserving more recognition. Art Features are an incredibly fun way of exposing art you've fallen in love with, or art you believe the community should see more of. If you want your features to stand out more, try to be creative with them. Perhaps do themes, specific genres, perhaps include thumbnails in a specific order, perha
3D Printing with Bees3D Printing with Bees1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
How awesome is this? Dewar's (the whiskey brand) created an ad campaign that used bees as a "3D printer" ...or as they called it "3-B printing." They created shells of the sculpture they wanted to create and let 80,000 bees loose inside of it. Over time, the bees created beautiful honeycomb sculptures.
Nice work Dewar's and the agencies behind the campaign, Sid Lee New York and The Ebeling Group!
How to beat procrastination (part 2)Most of the excuses for not drawing is lacking of ideas. On part 1 of this journal I explained why I find it useful to keep a notebook with you, and to write down your ideas whenever possible. How to beat procrastination (part 2)1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
This second part is about developing the habit of drawing. Hope you find it useful!
Create the habit of drawing
First thing to know about creating new habits is that it works kinda like inertia law:
"An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion."
Which means that the more you postpone your drawings the more you'll feel like delaying them. This procrastination abyss can be endless. For instance, I didn't draw anything in 2013 until the end of August when I bought my fi

New Netflix's Series Should Be A New 'Avatar show'From Paul Tassi Verified:New Netflix's Series Should Be A New 'Avatar show'11 months ago in Personal More Like This
I’m a week or so behind the times, but I’ve finally caught up with the final season of Nickelodeon’s The Legend of Korra, including its absolutely sublime finale that fans will be talking about for years to come.
In it (spoilers), there are many fantastic moments, including Korra essentially forgiving the big-bad villain of the entire season, going out of her way to save her life instead of letting her be consumed by the superweapon she built.
But past that, the most talked-about portion was the final two minutes, where Korra and Asami, both ex-girlfriends of presumed romantic lead Mako, decide to take a vacation together into the Spirit World. The two walk hand into the portal of light and the final shot is them facing each other, practically nose to nose in a way that mirrors both the nuptial pose of two characters who got married minutes earlier in the episode, and the end of The Last Airbender which had Aang and Kitara kissing.
care for a KattWould you like to have a Vattukatt shipped to you in a box?care for a Katt9 months ago in Personal More Like This
For a ridiculously huge amount of gold this is now possible.
The Katt will be carefully packed and safely delivered to your doorstep. The box can be used to create a house for it to sleep in.
The Katt is a shy, sensitive creature that comes out at night to hunt.
It originates from the deep, dark forests up north where it lived in secret far away from humanity, and is the only now existing individual of this rare breed.
It's generally friendly unless it feels threatened and often goes well together with other animals. But it is important to always approach the Katt with caution, as it's easily startled and prone to flee.
The Katt has many special needs. Only an experienced owner will be able to care for it properly.
To earn its trust and keep its level of happiness high a few things are needed, such as

The Thing About Idols...This was originally posted on my personal page, then toad1 asked if I wouldn't mind submitting it here too.The Thing About Idols...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I hope this proves to be as positive and useful to people here as it appears to have been on my page so far
This is something I've been thinking about for a while...
This is a note about idols. A lot of people have idols, I think that's a fairly common thing, and has been for a long time. It's nothing new. What is new, of course, is the accessibility of those idols, and, somewhere along the line, this is where a certain problem has occurred.
See. The problem with idols, actually stems from the name itself. 'Idol' is meant to be reserved for something divine, something to be worshipped, something, in itself, perfect.
Somehow, the 'modern age' (which encompasses a long time, in truth), has hijacked that term, and used it to mean something different.
Because, of course, those we now call 'idols', are not divine. They are, in fact, human. And, we all know. Humans are flawe

Call me Fox Ai. I prefer masculine pronouns. I am genderfluid, pansexual and polyamorous. Anyways...let's get to what really matters.
This week is a thing at my school called Writer's Week. It is a week long event where numerous authors, songwriters and performers basically showcase their work as well as host workshops with students. Alongside them, they have student presenters from our school. This is the 2nd year it is running so I decided, why not submit something? So one night, I sat down and began to write. I was going to do something on depression. But I am trying to put my depression behind me. So I started with something that was in the back of my mind. Being Pansexual. I don't know if it is just me, but I have experienced rather cruel LGBTQ me
Artist's Toolbox: Origami PaperOrigami PaperArtist's Toolbox: Origami Paper2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The Japanese for 'Paper' is Kami 紙. For Japanese speakers, the word Kami may refer to any kind of paper, but for English speakers, Kami is often used informally to refer to pre-cut packaged squares of paper.
There are a lot of different kinds of paper that you can use for origami. Usually square in shape, there are some that are of different shapes in different materials and different gradients. Based on this, a popular question that is asked is What kind of paper should be used for origami?
There is no single, correct answer. You are free to use whatever paper you like, but it does depend on what you are folding. Here are some types of paper that you could consider using for origami:
Washi paper is the traditional origami paper used in Japan. It is usually considered the finest and most expensive paper and, while it is handmade, it

How to create your own SketchbookCommunity WeekHow to create your own Sketchbook11 months ago in Personal More Like This
A Sketchbook is a special notebook to draw in. Many current and previous artists uch as Leonardo Da Vinci, have their own Sketchbook as a diary to write down their thoughts, ideas and experiences, whatever comes to mind. Also they might use a sketchbook to note down instructions or important facts about art. However, this 'bought' sketchbook can be very expensive and sometimes difficult to get in stores.
There is however, an alternative to having your own sketchbook without buying it. This alternative is, of course, to create your own sketchbook to your style and your taste. This involves a little work but is great for being part of your artistic growth and development. Also you can save money because the materials are not as expensive as buying a ready made sketchbook in a store. You can spend even less if some of the materials could already be found in your home.
Are you ready to start ? Follow my instructions and you will have your own sketchbook. It's worth a t

7 Days Drawing Challenge (preview)First of all thank you very much for all of those who are willing to take part in this challenge! We'll start this Wednesday (18th June). Be sure you won't miss it!7 Days Drawing Challenge (preview)1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
What's a 7 Days Drawing Challenge?
The challenge is drawing 7 different things based on 7 themes I will give you guys. A drawing a day. I know it may sound a bit tiring but the objective is to keep yourself inspired during 7 days in a row. The more you draw, the more you'll feel like drawing!
What about the Rules?
The only rule is that you have to draw (and submit) something each day! It doesn't matter the media nor the art style. That means it can be traditional or digital. The style may be realistic, manga/anime, cartoon, etc. It may be a Black&White artwork but it has to be a final piece. Oh! Don't forget to mention me with "Picolo-kun" so it will pop up into my messages and I'll be able to see the artwork!
I'm not one of these wealthy guys on dA so I'll tr
