Five winners will each win 20 each.
All you have to do to enter is fave the deviation below.
Good luck to everyone who enters
Q. Why do you hold these giveaways?
A. I do it for fun of course! People usually donate points to support me and I hold these giveaways to give back to the rest of these users on DeviantART. No it's not a lot of points, but it's something!
Q. Why do you ask people to fave a deviation? Why not allow them to just comment on the journal or deviation?
A. Because when they fave the deviation, I can click on the "view who has faved this" button and it gives me an already made list that I can easily put into random.org, and that saves me A LOT of time. If I had to go through the comments and write down every single user who wanted to enter I wouldn't be able to hold the giveaways as often. Plus it's easier for others to hit a fave button instead of commenting. I'm trying to make these giv

A Brief Discussion About Tonal ContrastTraditional Art WeekA Brief Discussion About Tonal Contrast4 months ago in Art Features More Like This
In last Traditional Week, we talked about the elements which if you ignore can destroy your painting and all your hardwork.
What Ruins A Painting?
Contrast and Values were one main element that either can make your works fruitful or ruin it. It needs to be discussed more broadly as a lot of new artists have trouble to establish a good tonal contrast. Result? Despite their brilliant artistic skills, the picture does not pop up! It looks dull, muted. That is not the fault of the drawing or skills, it's the lack of observation and understanding lights.
Contrast is the difference between two values which helps you to dis

The Unknown Artist ProgramHello members,The Unknown Artist Program4 months ago in Personal More Like This
When I took over this group I promised to maintain the original idea of the group. Which is to help artists who are in the shadows and not quite within the spotlight yet, artists who feel they do not receive enough recognition for the work and effort they put into their wonderful pieces. So with that, here is a program to help all of you wonderful members. Anyone apart of this group, may comment on this journal with either a piece or many pieces that they feel doesn't get enough recognition. It doesn't matter what skill level, or how long you've been in the art world. If you've created it and would like recognition then comment below linking to the piece(s).
When you comment, write a little about the piece perhaps how it came to be, the inspiration behind it. Maybe a little something about you! Not only can this program act as a platform to get your art out there, but friends can surely be made in the process.

Magic Mirror Video is up~!Magic Mirror Video is up~!9 months ago in Personal More Like This
About Magic Mirror:
This is a very personal piece for me. Blue Pact has been the focus of my creativity for more than 8 years, and is a story I have only just begun to try and convey to the world.
Seshiru, my main character is one of the most important things in my life, and I've tried to show why by making this video. When I was 12, I began hiding what I really wanted in life, which was to draw and tell stories through my sketches and paintings, and to make prints and posters of the characters I made for everyone to enjoy.
Seshiru is a tangent from the me I became growing up. She is almost the exact opposite of everything I do. Where I would run away and pretend I am okay, she would lose her temper and fight back. Where I would tell someone a sweet lie because I wanted to stay friends, she would tell them the hard truth to see if they really were her friend. Where I would worry about what I was wearing when I went out and was timid to even buy clothes, she would wear whatever t

And the lucky number is:
Just a small note, I'll do this again with my original style when I'm done with my regular commissions
Raffle? Is that the correct word? Anyway, those of you that follow my polls know that I wanted to do something special for my 300k pageviews. And after... I think it was for 150k, when I was giving 3 months of premium, there were like 3 or 4 winners ( and I didn't have enough points ) I will do this with raffle instead (because there will be only one winner, a lot more people will have a chance to win, plus theres this thing with DA now where your pageviews gets counted when someone visits your gallery as well...) .
Sooo, to get a chance to win free commission (this style ONLY: ) all you have to do is fav this journal. You'll have time until I hit 300k on my front page, after that I'll use random.org to pick a winner
GOOD LUCK EVER
Critiquing, do's and dont'sSo i almost always request critiques on my art, and i also get a lot of them too (thank you so much guys/galls) and i've noticed some critiquers have some misconceptions about critiques, their role, how to do it, etc.Critiquing, do's and dont's6 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Now i don't want to critique someone's critiuque, i rarely do that because people take it as being defensive about the art that is critiqued. So i'll just make this journal to hopefully inform/educate some of you about critiquing.
-If an artist requests critiques, and you have something to say about it then do use the critique widget to leave a critique. Don't critique in the comment's section though. I know some of you are more shy, but if you're bold enough to write a critique then put it in its proper place, that's what the widget is fore. This does not apply to artists who do not have a premium and can't requests critiques through the widget.
-Do read the artists comments on the artwork first. They might offer hints on what
Free Constructive Critique Tired of not getting any feedback on your art? Tired of all the favs and no comments? Well, you've come to the right journal.Free Constructive Critique2 months ago in Personal More Like This
One thing that I've noticed coming into a school is that I love critiquing peoples stuff?? Also, nobody critiques seriously anymore here?? Let's get some critiques going >: D
I'm opening up this for you guys, since I want to not only help others improve, but to critically look at somebody art and learn some things myself. When I just randomly critique, sometimes the artists don't enjoy that?? So I wanted to ask who WANTED to be critiqued, and help with what I can do >:3
How can I join?
Comment with a deviation below, something that you would like me to write on. HAVE CRITIQUES OPEN ON THAT PICTURE so I may put in my stars and such. I'll pick the ones that I think I can speak about well and give you a good critique.
Keep in mind that I will say
Setting Prices for Your ArtworkThere are few hard and fast rules when it comes to pricing artwork to sell. Why you ask? Well for one there are many variables that go into determining the cost of the artwork. It’s for that very reason that many artists (including myself in the past) sell themselves tremendously short. Another reason we as artists feel our palms getting sweaty when someone asks for a price to an artwork is because we feel as though we’re not being true artists if we accept money for our work. No, no no. Listen, I can tell you from experience that the “starving artist” lifestyle is waaaay less glamorous than it sounds when your pantry is bare for reals. There is absolutely nothing shameful about getting paid for honest work, so don’t try to make yourself feel guilty or ashamed of turning a profit. On the other hand, artists fall into the mire of not even knowing how to price individual artworks. This confusion only gets worse when you look at the price tags iSetting Prices for Your Artwork4 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Contest Announcement~I am officially announcing my first contest, i have planned this for a month and finally i can officially announce itContest Announcement~1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
The idea of this contest is simple, draw one of my OCs Crow or Fox or both if you feel inspired!
They are my original characters. They are creatures with magic but that doesn't make the very special because they live in a world where many things are magical. Also they live in a forest. The place they live in has no cities or technology, only clans of different magical creatures. They have absolutely no contact with humans either although humans do exist in this world, these creatures just stay away from them. Fox is cunning and composed, while Crow is easily manipulated and sincere. Fox is blackmailing him and keeping him under her thumb because she wants to keep him close to her and that is the only way she knows how.
here are images of them for inspiration

schnotte is a German artist know for his photographs of rotting, decaying buildings and other dark themes. His camera explores architectural structures, but mostly to emphasize their coldness. The human figures in his photographs appear out of place, as if lost in filthy, forgotten, broken-down manufacturing machines, the cold, dark environments not built with humanity in mind. Looking through these images we can see the ghosts of the love that once inhabited his worlds and it is that love that still shines through his pictures. We are blown away by the beauty Schotte imbues to these deathly quiet scenes that are equally sad and uplifting

5 minutes here for Ninjakato.
"Why do you artists always get so pissed off when someone uses your artwork? You should take it as a compliment!"
"You should take it as a Compliment --"
A compliment would be admiring an artist's work where they post it, and if you really want to use it that badly, complimenting them would be you having enough respect for them to ask first.
Most of us don't get mad because you use it, it's because you use it without asking or pretend you didn't know who/where it came from when there's a link to where you can find the original artist on the image.
Taking someone's car to crash it in a derby isn't a compliment to them any more than taking someone's art to wreck it or claim it is a compliment. More so without asking.

CT WIPs - Here They Come Just In TimeA couple of things: GIMP lags on me now which makes it a pain on me and my laptop to record process videos. And since tumblr has a following size that's a third of my dA, a lot of people may be missing my WIP shots. So I hope it won't bother anyone that I make and update journals that show my process. I hope you'll find them interesting and inspiring. And also, I hope people will stop asking me what program I work in lol on top of the fact that it's listed in my interests under Tools of the Trade, I've also had a FAQ made so please check those before asking questions. Further info about my process will be located under each WIP shot!CT WIPs - Here They Come Just In Time1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Art StylesThis is not some journal about personal woes. I just want to talk briefly about some attitudes towards realistic (and other) art styles that I've come across that... It just kinda seriously bothers me that people think that way about me and other people and themselves.Art Styles10 months ago in Personal More Like This
So here it is; Drawing realism does not equal elitism.
I don't draw realistically because I think it makes me better than other people and I don't know anyone else who does either. I draw realistically because I like drawing that way. Because I'm very particular about details and drawing little tiny details makes me ridiculously happy. It's just how I like to draw.
It doesn't make me better than you or anyone else.
I don't think any of you are below me because you draw anime/manga or cartoon styles. More power to you because I tend to struggle with it, honestly.
And if we all drew the exact same way, all our art would be the same and it would be boring as hell.
