An easy wire-wrapping tutorialWhen it comes to making jewerly, especially silver, wire-wrapping technique is one of the nicest consider the availability and costs of the materials (it definitely beats Art Clay Silver at these points). But before you get silver wire and start making such fabulous pieces like the ones I've featured in the end, it's good to take your first steps using something cheaper - and here comes the copper wire - and making something simpler, to get used to this lovely technique.An easy wire-wrapping tutorial3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
This tutorial I originally posted on my blog a couple of months ago and I thought about sharing it also here.
This is what we're planning to get.
First of all, we need stones - the more regular they are, the better. No need to think about any super duper expensive ones now (: I collected most of them in my garden, there are also parts of my old broken earrings and a small glass ball. We also need sharp pincers, round pincers and a wire, 0.6mm or thicker, 40cm at least. Copper wire i
PE: Wire-WrappingThis article is a short introduction to wire-wrapping, including information about wire-wrapping terms and tools, methods, tutorials and a feature of beautiful jewellery.PE: Wire-Wrapping2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
What is wire-wrapping?
"wire-wrapping" is - like the name implies - a technique where wire is wrapped in whatever way. It can be used to hold gemstones in place, and create intricate jewellery. It has the big plus that soldering isn't neccessary, and therefore all the equipment needed is relatively easy to come by.
Terms and Tools
Wire comes in different different sizes and forms, and you can choose between materials as well - you can use brass, copper, silver and gold wire.
Wire diameter is measured in 'gauge' and ranges from 14 gauge (~1/16 inch) to 26+ gauge (1/64 inch), so the higher the gauge number, the thinner the wire.

Oh wicked spirit born of a lost soul in limbo;
Receive judgement from the garb of the Holy Virgin;
cleansed of worldly impurites;
return to Heaven and Earth.
Oh pitiful shadow lost in the darkness;
Oh evil spirit born of those drifting between Heaven and Earth;
May the thunderous power from the garments of these holy delicate maidens strike down upon you with great vengeance and furious anger
Shattering your loathsome impurity and returning you from whence you came.
Repent you motherfucker!

May the Earth shatter;
May the oceans dry;
May the sun extinguish itself;
Grant upon us the power of our Lord Satan in Hell

Sometimes you need to declare something. Sometimes you need to show a little support for the people you love. Sometimes you need to let the world know just how much you love toast.
Of course, you could do this with text but it's often so much better with a stamp.
Stamps have visual impact not only with their content but also with their borders. Use the traditional stamp edging for a classic look or wrap your message in lace for an elegant touch. Or, y'know, just go wild and use something unique like a graphic of an open book or computer screen. There's so many wonderful and creative borders on dA that you'll always be able to find something to suit your message.
Especially because toast goes with almost everything!

Sorry for late response, I have gotten caught up in life esp since I'm moving into the dorm in a week!
Results will be posted in a week ^Q^ Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who participated! Hope you all had fun (: Due to the limited entries however, I unfortunately will not be giving out pixels as bonus prizes
Hello everyone!! UvU I've always enjoyed participating in contests because the creative characters, the innovative prompts, and the medley of different prizes always posed to be great incentives to get my juices flowing for new pieces ^_^ I hope this contest is able to do the same for others!! It would make me happy to see a lot of people participating :")
There are two prompts to choose from!
1. Draw a self portrait.
I'm not looking for a realistic, painted bust. Be as creative as you can! It could be a single symbolic scenery w/ various elements, or a collage of various parts of your personalities, or anything you can think of really.
Art and fearDear, deviantart fellow artistsArt and fear2 years ago in Personal More Like This
We all fear for something - whether It's related to our art, lifes, decisions. We fear about how people will react, about how what we do can influence what will happen next. And we are humble about that.
1. Fear of critique.
People will always have their opinions about things. And sometimes they might say it out loud - whether It's a relative, teacher, random observer - the main thing is not to take things way too personal. If It's about your art - even though you put your heart and soul in it, don't be afraid to listen to advice (when it comes from someone whose opinion matters to you) and seek ways for improvement. Ignore trolls and surround yourself with people who support you and make you happy.
2. Fear of not being good enough.
Just admit that you'll never be good enough and move on. There is always so much to learn and artists work all their lifes to get the skill and make artworks with an honest effor
Tips and tricks for handling light and shadowsStreet Photography WeekTips and tricks for handling light and shadows8 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Many street photographers use the technique of photographing people against the light to get silhouette images. I love taking silhouette photos because they are featureless and provide enough food for thought. Silhouettes are not about specific people but about human beings in general. Their solid black color brings weight, drama and emotions. Silhouettes make images look more artsy and painting-like, leaving viewers to use their imagination to complete underexposed details. It is very easy to take silhouette photos if you know couple tricks. I want to share some with you.
The general rule is to find a light background, it can be sunset, doorway, open sky or sunny wall with shadowy area in front of it (see the image below). Your object will be black-lit, photographed against light.
Use manual exposure mode on your camera. Set aperture on F/8-11 to get in focus both subject and background and meter the brightest part of your p

LonelinessDear, deviantart fellow artists,Loneliness2 years ago in Personal More Like This
In this world, when there are more than 7 billion people (aproximately 7,226,225,900 as I'm writing this), It's easy to feel lonely. As everyone rushes to live their lives, to deal with problems and make decisions - we tend to isolate ourselves, stay indoors and wait for things to happen. But the most lovely things tend to be out of our comfort zone.
As for myself - I'm really a shy, introverted person and I won't talk If I don't necessary have to. (Always sketching something, being quiet with headphones on my ears). That's why It's easier for me to put my thoughts in written words, photography, art - social media has been a lovely thing for that. As I started to write a blog few years ago, made an account here -in dA, tumblr, things have changed a lot - I realised that there are so many passionate people out there - whether It's art, music or tv series - It's incredibly inspiring. Writing comments, starting conve

No ExcusesDear, deviantart fellow artists,No Excuses2 years ago in Personal More Like This
No time. No motivation. No inspiration. No necessary art supplies/right conditions. Not in the right mood. No skill, no patience...
Why are we so afraid to do what we love, why we keep making these excuses and just waste our time on stuff that doesn't matter. It's so much easier to focus our attention on why we can't do certain things. Procrastination leads to nowhere and at the end of the day we feel upset that we haven't done anything productive. And It's discouraging. There is even a word for that - Farnham (n.) - the feeling you get about four o'clock in the afternoon when you haven't got enough done.
But if you really, really, really want to make your dreams come true, to make amazing things and be persistent on your goals and ambitions. If you want to succeed, to leave a mark, to achieve what you always wanted. ...
There is a way. Difficult? Yes, of course. You'll

Being PassionateDear, deviantart fellow artists,Being Passionate2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Passion. That spark. That shines through the eyes, through works of passionate person can be seen from first glance. And It's contagious.
In my opinion, there is a difference between hobbies and thing that you want to do for the rest of your life and what makes you truly happy. Years ago, when I joined deviantart, in September 28, 2011, I really liked photography and I would go outside in the coldest days to just take pictures of sunset and snow in the river. I really liked the process (and I still do), but something changed one day.
I was in the local museum, visiting the exhibition of photos and just randomly I spoke to the photographer (do not remember his name, but he was quite old and very serious about his profession). I asked some technical stuff – smth about image procession software he uses, and he gave me advice – “If you are passionate about something, then do it with all your heart.”
