An easy wire-wrapping tutorialWhen it comes to making jewerly, especially silver, wire-wrapping technique is one of the nicest consider the availability and costs of the materials (it definitely beats Art Clay Silver at these points). But before you get silver wire and start making such fabulous pieces like the ones I've featured in the end, it's good to take your first steps using something cheaper - and here comes the copper wire - and making something simpler, to get used to this lovely technique. An easy wire-wrapping tutorial3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
This tutorial I originally posted on my blog a couple of months ago and I thought about sharing it also here.
This is what we're planning to get.
First of all, we need stones - the more regular they are, the better. No need to think about any super duper expensive ones now (: I collected most of them in my garden, there are also parts of my old broken earrings and a small glass ball. We also need sharp pincers, round pincers and a wire, 0.6mm or thicker, 40cm at least. Copper wire i
PE: Wire-WrappingThis article is a short introduction to wire-wrapping, including information about wire-wrapping terms and tools, methods, tutorials and a feature of beautiful jewellery.PE: Wire-Wrapping2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
What is wire-wrapping?
"wire-wrapping" is - like the name implies - a technique where wire is wrapped in whatever way. It can be used to hold gemstones in place, and create intricate jewellery. It has the big plus that soldering isn't neccessary, and therefore all the equipment needed is relatively easy to come by.
Terms and Tools
Wire comes in different different sizes and forms, and you can choose between materials as well - you can use brass, copper, silver and gold wire.
Wire diameter is measured in 'gauge' and ranges from 14 gauge (~1/16 inch) to 26+ gauge (1/64 inch), so the higher the gauge number, the thinner the wire.

The goal is to complete the list, but 52 is a lot. So do as many as you can.
You DO NOT have to do the list in order. Please feel free to skip around.
Please submit your project entries to the 52 Week Project Folder.
I know time is an issue for most people, as it is for me.
These entries do NOT have to be epic masterpieces; sketches are acceptable though finished work is always proffered.
You may NOT change a theme from the list and submit it to the project folder.
Anything submitted to the project folder needs to be labeled in some way to indicate its part of the project.
it could be as simple as numbering the piece or saying "Pr

contest update!CONTEST IS CLOSEDcontest update!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Sorry for late response, I have gotten caught up in life esp since I'm moving into the dorm in a week!
Results will be posted in a week ^Q^ Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who participated! Hope you all had fun (: Due to the limited entries however, I unfortunately will not be giving out pixels as bonus prizes
Hello everyone!! UvU I've always enjoyed participating in contests because the creative characters, the innovative prompts, and the medley of different prizes always posed to be great incentives to get my juices flowing for new pieces ^_^ I hope this contest is able to do the same for others!! It would make me happy to see a lot of people participating :")
There are two prompts to choose from!
1. Draw a self portrait.
I'm not looking for a realistic, painted bust. Be as creative as you can! It could be a single symbolic scenery w/ various elements, or a collage of various parts of your personalities, or anything you can think of really.

For my 15th literature competition I want to challenge people to do something that may benefit their writing, so I present to you all the Devil's in the Detail Competition.
I'm challenging you to think of something that a person has to do at least once a month, but it could be every minute of every day, and then put it in a fantasy environment.
Brushing your teeth if you are a vampire
Walking your dog onboard a space station
Having a prostate exam when everyone else on the planet is a zombie. (eek!)
The challenge is really to focus your mind on how your characters behave and interact with their environments and how the environment being different than yours (the writers) can affect how they do those things. Hopefully this will

Hope you like them! They're all for sale in my shop, as usual.
I'm working on finishing the last of my custom orders (yeah, I STILL have some left) and then I should be able to re-open them again! I don't want to make empty promises, but I'm hoping to open them up again somewhere mid February / start of March. It all depends on how much work I have and how things go with university!
Have a great weekend everyone! ♥

Giger Style Photoshop Tutorial

"For the final installment of our Sci-Fi series, I thought it would be good to up the ante and do something real crazy. The following walkthrough outlines the techniques and resources used to create a Giger influenced ‘Biomech’ piece. Many of the processes are very similar to our previous walkthroughs, however this type of work requires an important added ingredient: patience!!"
Art and fearDear, deviantart fellow artistsArt and fear1 year ago in Personal More Like This
We all fear for something - whether It's related to our art, lifes, decisions. We fear about how people will react, about how what we do can influence what will happen next. And we are humble about that.
1. Fear of critique.
People will always have their opinions about things. And sometimes they might say it out loud - whether It's a relative, teacher, random observer - the main thing is not to take things way too personal. If It's about your art - even though you put your heart and soul in it, don't be afraid to listen to advice (when it comes from someone whose opinion matters to you) and seek ways for improvement. Ignore trolls and surround yourself with people who support you and make you happy.
2. Fear of not being good enough.
Just admit that you'll never be good enough and move on. There is always so much to learn and artists work all their lifes to get the skill and make artworks with an honest effor
Plated DessertsPlating can be such an underrated art form at times. I've often heard it dismissed as 'boring', 'sterile' and criticised for all looking the same. Maybe we just have a tendency to lust after the rustic, messy desserts. Maybe we like to tear down what is seen as a hoity-toity way of presenting food. Or maybe we just don't see the skill and technique that goes into plating.Plated Desserts2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Skillful plating up of food requires a good eye, a steady hand and a flair for design. Careful consideration goes into everything from which way the dish is offset, to the type of garnishes on it, to the type of plate it is presented on. It, in turn, necessitates learning a whole host of other skills and techniques to create the garnishes that adorn the dish.
These deviants show off their plating skills with a host of delicious desserts.
I have something to tell you about Nightwish...I'm not gonna talk about this Anette-Tarja dismissal thing. This childish shit is not worth any attention...I have something to tell you about Nightwish...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
What I want to say is that I'm fed up with all these people
who talk about Nightwish, about their vocalists TECHNICALLY.
I am serious.
I'm SO fucking fed up with all this shit like:
"Anette have no skills for this music"
"This part of the song was technically sang better than her"
"Tarja stopped singing in this moment while Floor still sings"
"Floor is a combination of Tarja's and Anette's skills and that's why she's the best"
"Anette can't reach the high notes"
"Floor is the best! Look how long and how high notes she takes at the end of Ghost Love Score!!! Even Tarja wasn't so good"
"I want Floor as a new singer cause she can sing classically as well!"
Just stop and answer this question:
DO YOU FEEL THE MUSIC, THE STAGE ENERGY WITH A SOUND LEVEL METER OR WITH YOUR BODY AND SOUL?
I feel it with my whole heart and soul... and what my soul tells me is tha

( For the time being until I graduate and start working for Amvets, I do live with my dad. )
So, I went to with my dad to Walmart today to buy new lights for my sisters bedroom. The whole way there I could tell he was in a bad mood, so I kept to myself. While at Walmart, his attitude only seemed to get worse. ( I still have yet to figure out why he was so upset. )
We finally found the right lights that we needed, and went to find an express lain. Most were closed, but two were still open with people in line. My dad starts grumbling about this ( acting like he wants to get the hell out of dodge as quick as possible. )
I am standing right behind him and we get behind two other people with one of them almost finished checking out. But suddenly, my dad starts to b

Smoothing, Sanding, Buffing Polymer ClaySmoothing, Sanding, and Buffing polymer clay is definately something that you don't hear a lot about in the younger polymer clay community, but it certainly does make your pieces look a lot better in the long run. If you smooth, sand, and buff your clay AND add a layer of varnish - watch out, your pieces will look as bright, beautiful and glossy as a piece of delicious candy.Smoothing, Sanding, Buffing Polymer Clay7 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Have you ever noticed that translucent clay really isn't THAT translucent? Well, if you smooth, sand, and buff it - you'll be seeing differently! It really DOES get see-through!
Give these tips a try, and although I can't guarantee that you will get it right the first time, practice makes perfect, and sometimes new techniques take a little getting used to before you find a way that works the best for you.
Smoothing your clay is what you do to your clay before you bake it. Running your fingers along the surface and smoothing out bumps and impurities can work wonders on a piece and give it a ve

Digital painting tips for beginners.I'm not the best person to give advice about art, once I do not consider myself an artist (yes, it's true lol). But I've always been very curious and interested with the theme "digital painting", and I spent (and still spend) hours and hours watching videos 2 hours long on Youtube lol livestreams, etc.. I think I'm the only person who has the patience for it, hahahaha, but it was what helped me to evolve and learn all the techniques I know now to perform my work. I asked the help of many artists that I admire, and some even helped me, but most of them do not care how much you want to learn. Thinking about it, I decided to make this journal to pass them what little I know, and I hope that this is helpful for someone. Are simple tips and a little obvious, but unknown for some people who just started in this world full of possibilities. I only ask, first of all, for you dont give up. The difficulties were made to be overcome.Digital painting tips for beginners.2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
