Being Unscientific with SRSmithWho doesn't love science fiction?Being Unscientific with SRSmith6 months ago in Literature Features More Like This
If you just said "me," keep reading—you'll change your mind by the end of this article. (If you don't, I reserve the right to send a drone to your house. Isn't living in The Future great?!) As you'll see, science fiction goes beyond funny aliens and laser beams that conveniently miss. Some have even argued that, without science fiction, the Internet wouldn't have happened, and then we'd all be...outside right now. Quel horreur!
SRSmith has been a mainstay of the dA literature community for a long time, and he showcases other awesome dA writers on his flash fiction project,365tomorrows.
What is "science fiction"?
In my opinion, Science Fiction is any story that uses present or future science or technology as a key component, or where it provides the required underlying fabric on which the story is built. Future science or technology is speculative by nature, a

Daily Deviation - The Land that is notDaily Deviation - The Land that is not8 months ago in Personal More Like This
I long for the land that is not,
For all that is, I am weary of wanting.
The moon speaks to me in silvern runes
About the land that is not.
The land where all our wishes become wondrously fulfilled,
The land where all our fetters fall,
The land where we cool our bleeding forehead
In the dew of the moon.
My life was a burning illusion,
But one thing I have found and one thing I have really won -
The road to the land that is not.
In the land that is not
My beloved walks with a glittering crown.
Who is my beloved? The night is dark
And the stars quiver in reply.
Who is my beloved? What is his name?
The heavens arch higher and higher
And a human child is drowned in the endless fogs
And knows no reply.
But a human child is nothing but certainty.
And it stretches its arms higher than all heavens.
And there comes a reply:
I am the one you love and always shall love.

These include my thoughts on there overall work they choosen, or there overall gallery. I didn't want to just throw a bunch of thumbs, up here. I wanted to get dig deeper.
This was really fun for me I didn't think I'd get so many people though that's why I broke it up into two segments. I love sharing the love, of other artists. I really enjoy this, so I look forward to making more and others posting and encouring others to check out these features and comment, and fav, and interact with there fellow artists. This is not only encouraging people to visit and look at other people they have never seen before, this is also encouraging comments on there work as well. Even when you think your short comment won't mean anything, It does mean something to somebody who doesn't get a lot of coments. Thank you for your entries STAY tuned for the second segement! Coming Soon next week or the week before next.

i love yall guys ok. you n me are a lot alike. born one way and told to live a lot like that even tho we know its wrong, its not us, its not how we are meant to be. its scary being where we are. its so scary and can go so wrong if we try to be ourselves but maybe it can go right. it has to go right. we gotta fight for it so that we can stop things like this from happening, so they dont need to happen anymore in
lolcan we all get out of our heads the idea that drawing vent art is somehow wronglol1 week ago in Personal More Like This
i was conditioned over a year ago to think it was somehow wrong and attention seeking to draw vent art and that it made me immature which in the end discouraged me to draw whatsoever and made me scared to post anything from the fear of being constantly watched and judged (and i still have this issue but its not as prominent). because art for me usually is only to vent honestly, every piece means something whether it shows or not. i dont care about art much otherwise.
these people were older and seemingly more "mature" than me so i believed them. if you think this is directed at you thats probably saying something.
art for some people is their only outlet and the only way to vent (me) because they have no one to talk to about shit or have the inability to (me)
this isnt directed at any of my watchers because you all obviously deal with my art (somehow) but a majority of people on the internet find vent

Tutorials and techniquesQuite a lot of people keep asking me for tutorials and to be honest I see no point in creating yet another strip on how to paint skin/clothes/light/carrots/whatever. There are so many of them out there that it would be simply a waste of time to sit and basically copy what's already been told.Tutorials and techniques4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Instead, I've decided to make a compilation of different tutorials and charts that I personally use to learn how to paint.
The most important thing you need to learn even before starting to read a tutorial is that all walk-throughs are meant for you to understand how things work. My point is that after reading and later practicing a tutorial called 'how to paint a glass duck' you should be able to paint not only a glass duck but also anything else made of glass. You should concentrate on understanding the rules and patterns instead of trying to copy what you see on the image. Otherwise you'll end up knowing how to paint only a few things from only one perspective and one lightning pattern.

Just kidding you all fucking suck.
A moment of seriousnessI'm going to talk seriously to all of you for a moment. Just for a moment. Please don't think this is me asking for sympathy or pity, this isn't. But after watching several friends lately, and well.. over the years as well.. I want to share this. It's not upbeat, but sometimes we need a moment of seriousness to acknowledge the not so great things in our lives.A moment of seriousness2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Many don't know that I am actively suicidal. There is a sadness and a despair that I cannot shake no matter how hard I try. No matter how good I am, it is not enough. No matter how hard I try. It is not enough. At one point I was hospitalized because I attempted suicide. I have also nearly succeeded before and managed to lie my way out of it so that to this day the people involved think that I was just 'sick', because I didn't want them to worry. I did not tell anyone the number of times that the police have come to my house to make sure I'm still alive thanks to a friend observing a change in my behavior and calling, or the time
