Welcome To The Today Page
Dawn by Smattila
The wonderful thing about the shared global art narrative is that it’s constantly evolving.
A new chapter in the deviantART story has begun, with a new Today Page focused on outreach and engagement, telling our stories and bringing a devious lens to the world around us. We seek to monitor, analyze, report on, and most importantly, be a part of encouraging the bond between art, life and the human spirit using the pulse of the first digitally-oriented art collective and in ways older, established media cannot.
Many online communities are capable

Calling all beta testers, bug lovers and feature loving deviants.
I have exciting news! devBUG is looking for some new deviants to be Alpha Tester!
But what is an alpha tester?
An Alpha tester is a bit like a Beta tester only they get to test out new features before Beta testers do.
So, what do alpha testers get to do?
As an alpha tester you'll have the chance to talk to staff and developers about new and upcoming features, and help find and report any bugs that there may be, before it goes to beta testers or th
Undiscovered (Beta): Unearthing Quality ArtArt Under The RadarUndiscovered (Beta): Unearthing Quality Art2 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Each day, hundreds of thousands of pieces of art are submitted to deviantART. As more and more artists join, create, and share their work, it becomes easy for high quality art to miss its chance to stand out and be seen.
Our new browse mode, Undiscovered, aims to bring new, high quality artwork to the foreground.
Finding Hidden Gems
Undiscovered focuses on recently submitted artwork that has not yet drawn attention or recognition at the levels of Popular or What's Hot browse modes. Using an algorithm that identifies patterns in community behavior when curating content, Undiscovered generates a browsing experience that draws attention to creative art and talented artists that may not receive the same level of attention from other browse modes.
Please keep in mind that the algorithm that powers Undiscovered is still new and we may make changes as it grows in use.

Follow-Up on the Motion Book ToolIn February, we released Madefire's Motion Book Tool to an initial set of deviants, marking the beginning of the Tool's release on deviantART. We've since seen deviants create a variety of detailed and impressive Motion Books, and are pleased with the artistic diversity that deviants are bringing to the Motion Book Tool.Follow-Up on the Motion Book Tool1 year ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Check our the amazing examples below to see some of the great work deviants have produced with the tool:
As we continue to gradually release the Tool to the deviantART community, we want to ensure that the experience of creating and submitting Motion Books is streamlined and efficient from start to finish.
For deviants who already have access to the Motion Book Tool, we'd appreciate a few minutes of your time to answer the following questions. Your feedback will be used to aid development and testing. Aga

The Kindred Spirit of the Deviant Community
It’s the sort of thing you come to expect from deviantARTists, but still, it never ceases in reinforcing the certain knowledge that there is something very special about being a part of dA. Our unique environment of artists and fans of art brings out the very best in people, encouraging them to give that little bit extra to help a comrade in art.
Case in point:
Deviant poet and writer NemoX7 has created and presented to his kindred dA community members the opportunity to participate in Project S.E.A., his p

Robo-Bee by Dragons-Canvas
Should we create a new world with technology or preserve the life around us?
Greenpeace created a darkly satirical video about “NewBees,” exploring a dystopic future where we replace dying species with robotic creatures.
We love imagining what the future will look like and how we will tell stories in this new world. Greenpeace painted a gloomy picture in the video, linking these fictional “robobees” to corporate interests:

Improved DMCA Reporting SystemImproved DMCA Reporting System2 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Hello, deviants! In an effort to keep the community informed and to provide the best possible experience for our members, we wanted to inform you of changes to our reporting system.
DeviantART is dedicated to protecting our artists, and in an effort to be able to more quickly handle complaints by deviants who have had their rights infringed on, we have changed the way we receive complaints from the artist or the copyright holder.
In the past, we took reports by the copyright holder in two different ways: An informal report via the Report Violation tool and a formal complaint via contacting the Help Desk. While both of these methods were effective, they presented many setbacks.
The informal report did not gather all the necessary information for a formal copyright complaint and was prone to misuse by well-meaning deviants who would attempt to report images they did not own the copyright to

In Recognition of Exemplary Membership and an Outstanding Spirit of helpfulness and mentoring within the DeviantArt community.
Hi everyone! I'm Jade, better known around DeviantArt as Aeirmid. I chose my username because Aermid (or Airmid) is an Irish goddess of health and healing, and I wanted to pay tribute to her because I have dedicated my life to promoting mental and physical health in others. In fact, I'm just finishing up a PhD program in public health. In March, I will celebrate 10 amazing years on DeviantArt. Although I started my journey as a photographer, I quickly became enthralled with photomanipulation and worked hard to develop some skills. I chose my original name on DA, SanguineVamp, because I loved all sorts of dark and Gothic work. I still do. Still, I had a hard time creating dark art because my attempts at blood and gore always somehow magically evolved

Community Operations Newsletter - June 2014In this, the first of a new, regular newsletter, I'd like to take a moment to give you an overview of the Community Operations department.Community Operations Newsletter - June 201410 months ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
DeviantART's Community Operations Department encompasses the Help Desk and the Copyright and Etiquette Administration (CEA) teams. These teams are dedicated to providing a high level of support within the community via our help desk portal as well as what we call the "Moderation Desk", which is where all of the deviations that have been reported as being unsuitable or in violation of our policies, await review from a member of staff.
Community Operations Staff are spread out across the globe on a mix of many time zones. Some work from a physical office in deviantART HQ in Los Angeles, some work from their homes in America, Canada, Bahamas, Germany and the UK. This may not sound like a real job, but like any employment, there are clearly laid out roles and responsibilities as well as continuous supervision to ensure that people are meeting expectati

Our first-ever deviantMEET in Las Vegas hit the jackpot!
On Sunday, December 1st, deviants were already lined up outside the doors at 5:00 PM, even though the event wasn't scheduled to start until 5:30! (A handful of amazingly dedicated super deviants arrived as early as 3:30 PM!) Far be it for us to wait to get the party started, so we opened the doors a little early, allowing the crowd to rush in. After signing our guestbook – we know, physical guestbooks are so Web 1.0, but they're great mementos! – our devious artists dispersed to play at the deviantART booth.
Stocked with six Intuos 5 Wacom tablets to play with, a 24-inch Cintiq, SketchBook Pro for sketching and painting, enough table seating for traditional drawing and portfolio review, and bags upon bags of free swag (including stress balls, deviantART Sharpies, and tons of free stickers), everyone found an awesome and creative way to spend their time.

New Username Symbols: Extended ThoughtsTwo weeks ago, we released two new products – deviant and art Mentions and new username symbols. Gratefully, and as we'd hoped, many deviants are embracing these changes in exactly the ways we'd anticipated, and the ways we ourselves did over the past several months of testing. While some deviants embraced the changes, it's fair to say that others have felt surprise, curiosity, and maybe even shock. These feelings are totally normal, but for the large part, there's a hope present. A positive outlook. The first steps in a new era that makes the way for our goals in the future, and, at the same time, removes clutter and confusion that new deviants often experience.New Username Symbols: Extended Thoughts1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Harassment: A Survival GuideIt's no secret that the members of deviantART are an opinionated bunch! For good or ill, there is always plenty to say about art that speaks to them. Collection: Urban CatsCollection: Urban Cats6 months ago in Art Features More Like This
They are always there. The street sentinels. Witnesses in the night. The urban cats. Some insist a cat always prefers human company, a warm bed and provision of food and affection. So why are these felines out here? In the cat there is an independence like no other animal one shares a life with. A cat cannot be “owned.” A cat chooses you to be allowed to groom and feed and love him. If the unspoken pact somehow fails, then the cat, uncompromising, moves on to survive the cold, cruel streets on his own. But he is free. Forever free.
“I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat.”

Explore the full range of DeviantArt.
With better organization and improved structure, our new navigation creates a more streamlined site experience. Features like Today, Undiscovered, and What’s Hot have been given more prominence, while the More menu is now easily accessible with its simplified, new look. The addition of infinite scroll on Daily Deviations allows you to quickly discover even more hand-selected deviations. This all adds up to more control over what you use most and makes it easier to discover great artists and their art.
The More menu, which was previously available next to the DeviantArt logo, has been better organized and moved to a more prominent and convenient location. This change was based on community feedback that its previous placement was hard to find, and its contents overwhelming.
