REAL CREATIVISM LOGA lot of people ask me what do i think when im drawing, whats your creative process, and what are the magical fairies you are thinking while you draw, about life, beauty and wisdom of the world. You will be surprised how thats not what i think while i draw and how this process repeats all the time while i draw.REAL CREATIVISM LOG3 years ago in Personal More Like This
The purpose of this journal its to let people know how we are all filled with doubts agony and stupid funny things while we draw. So you wont feel you are doing something wrong.
Will be cool if this became a spam, and people started to share in their journals the same way i did while you are at work.
Okay, lets star, first the setting, if you had seen the tv show 24, picture that way while im drawing, with several cameras on my sides, this will make the reading more funny, if you havent seen the show picture this sound each time you read time passes, while im drawing.
Okay lets start.

Some of you might remember my previous journal with a list of brush-sets I've tried out and found very useful. Today I bring you more!
And honestly I must say that those few new sets contain absolutely everything one needs (I won't join the discussion that a real artist needs only one brush, because it's absolutely true but makes things much less fun and fancy ;))
After downloading and installing a brush set always test every single brush - play with it on a clear canvas, test it in different colours and using different strokes. Pick only those which you like and know how to use, delete the others or at least move them to the bottom of the list, leaving the most often used at the top.

These 6 wonderful sets brought to you by Vincent-Montreuil are compilations of brushes that create amazing effects. All of them

So, many times people ask me about what brushes I use and what not... I have a link for my brushes on my profile but I don't use that set anymore, so I just wanted to share the brush-set I've been using lately with you
You can download it here:
BRUSHES, FUCK YEAH!
The last 5 brushes or so are the ones I use the most ( like 95% of the time ).
It is much simpler than my previous set as I'm trying to "free" my "workspace" as much as possible. It still has some brushes that are universally in everyone's brush-set nowadays, so honestly I'm not sure who to credit anymore since they've been around for so long, but they probably come from Jaime Jones, Leventep, Kekai, M@ etc...
Just remember that brushes are just another tool and won't make your work better or worse automatically. Just use the ones you like the most and stick with that
I have also recently made a tumblr account in which I sh

There are a plethora of brushes available to you on photoshop. This guide will explain different brush settings, as well as how to install different brush packs here on deviantART. This guide is for pressure sensitive pen tablets. It is going to be much easier to do things with a tablet. Ones by Wacom are good, and you can get a bamboo for under 99$ USD.
Basic Brushes in Photoshop
It's important to stick with default ones to learn all the settings. You can do so many things with the hard round brush.
Bring up your brush palette in one of the following ways. (note I am in CS3, so the icons will look much older, but same thing. )

CS 5 Brushes downloadI get questions about what brushes I use every now and then, and since Mega is giving away so much free space I thought I might as well throw them online. I'm not sure if the texture file is embedded correctly, so if these brushes are missing texture, please let me know and I'll upload that as well. For comparison, this is what a sample stroke from the third to fifth brush ought to look like (the first two brushes don't have a texture, one is the default hard edge round, the other is similarly standard) : http://i.imgur.com/zE3oOqx.jpgCS 5 Brushes download2 years ago in Personal More Like This
ANWAY, YOU NEED PHOTOSHOP CS 5, or higher, in order to use these brushes. Any version below won't have the 3D brush feature and I have no idea what will happen if you load these brushes into CS 4 or lower, but I'm assuming they just won't work. Sorry.
If you DO have CS 5 or higher:

Fire! For years its always frustrated me on how to colour fire effectively. Make it look real so to speak.Fire!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I think I've cracked it...
In the past I either painted the flames in and then used the smudge tool to distort the living daylights out of it and did this on a few layers until it all started to look ok. The other option was to use a photo of some flames, and then set it to screen mode to get rid of any black so it could appear transparent over whatever was burning underneath. This works but has the disadvantage of making the flames look a little washed out. More layers of the flames helps but again isn't perfect.
However this time on the picture that I'm doing now (Keu Cha's Hex TLT Issue 1 cover with inks by k-omer. -- all for fun.) I did my usual little gradient glow of white-orange-yellow-transparent but then grabbed a flame photo and quite by accident copied the red channel and pasted it into a new layer....
WOW! I now have full colour photo flames on their own transparent l

So I have been thinking of doing a few articles apart from feature articles to link some useful resources for artists and this is the first one of these. While this is a mini one, it's helped me a lot on several occassions.
Sometimes it gets confusing to decide which colours to choose. "'Should I go with a turquoise and a gold for the face? What about the room? I was going for a chic cool modern palette which is minimalistic!" Surely, a lot of us have gone through those decisive moments. Below are some colour scheme tools that would help you with your colour scheme choices. Click the titles or the links in asterisk to go to the following sites.

You may NOT repackage and redistribute my resources in any way, shape or form.
You may NOT plop a brush down onto a plain or transparent background, with nothing else on the page, and redistribute it or sell it. This is the same as redistributing the brushes/images themselves. Placing the brush onto a product or within a design is fine, of course.
You MAY use my resources within your own design, painting, etc and do whatever you like with it (provided that proper credit is given, as below).
You MAY NOT redistribute any of my designs as rubber stamps. I have plans to do this in the future.
Tutorials from this site may NOT be redistributed in any manner. If you would like to put them up in a forum or somesuch, contact me first.

Five Tips to Starting FreelancingSo, you're tired of being unemployed. You've been stuck at home for the umpteenth month in a row, a new season of The Legend of Korra is still a year off, and your government support checks (should you be lucky to still be getting them) won't even come close to affording you a bus ticket to Everfree Northwest. Your evaluation of life is the same dissertation of tedium and monotony as Helen Keller's review of Chinese Democracy.Five Tips to Starting Freelancing2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
You know, pretty much on par with every other review of Chinese Democracy.
But know what? If you can't find a job, you'll make a job! Screw finding work, and screw the employers who keep dismissing your applications for being "over qualified" like that Bachelors of Science in Graphic Design is as detrimental to your character as being a registered felon. Screw them and that stupid help wanted sign at Quiznos. Now you're freelancing, baby.
While I'm assuming you're alread
Inspiration: Art websitesMany people asked me about which sites I use (or used) to learn and keep myself updated about art. So I decided to make a list with art websites that offer tutorials, advice, or other content that inspired me. Of course there are many other individual artists that inspire me greatly, but I've tried to keep this list to the ones that provide the community of advice and tutorials (otherwise I could go on forever).Inspiration: Art websites1 month ago in Art Features More Like This

That's how you get pageviewsAnd here you have the number one question that people ask me:That's how you get pageviews7 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
"How the hell did you get so many people to view your art? You're not even that good!"
I can't do anything other than honestly admitting that I'm not that good at art. I'm not some awesomely skilled concept artist, at least. I've seen many people do a better job while receiving a lot less of attention.
Why a medium like DeviantArt works for me? Probably because I've been around on the internet for so long, and I've spend so much time working for internet-marketing company's, that things like advertising and web usability have become a second nature to me. A lot of the things that I've come to regard as common sense in internet communication, are things that are nowadays proven successful by research.
It's important to know that websites like DeviantArt are listed in the category social media. That probably didn't occur to most people, since DeviantArt seems to be so heavily focused towards art (and tradi

Paypal has changed their layout, you can still send invoices but you can no longer select digital goods.
I haven't had time to really look into it and come up with a solution.
but you pretty much HAVE to send out something physical now if you want to be fully protected. There's still main points in this journal that describe how to go about that.
This Journal is currently Under Revision.
Points have been brought to my attention that have caused me to need to revise this journal.
I am still digging around on my free time to see if I can find a way around this. I will update daily.
Please note that this is specifically for Artists who use Paypal to sell digital goods.
OK, so there has been many artists being scammed lately through Paypal with large chargebacks. If you have been hit by a chargeback recently please feel free to note me and I will try my best to help
