Blending modes and photomanipulations
Few words about most used blending modes (bm), how they affect the image (positive and negative moments).
First of all I want to remind about the option of creating layer filled with neutral colour for chosen blending mode. Holding Alt press icon "create a new layer", Photoshop will show you window like this:
Just select desired bm and check "fill with ... neutral color". Sometimes it's very helpful.
Second, when you use blending modes for toning for example, use option "new adjustment layer - solid colour" instead of filling new layer with bucket. Solid color doesn't increase size of your psd file as much as pixel layer does.
And third - brush, clone stamp, history brush, bucket/gradient, all these tools have option to select bm i
Manip Academy 13: How to make glowing things Hello everybody!Manip Academy 13: How to make glowing things1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Today I'm going to show you how to make glowing things. Light is very important in making photomanipulations, so techniques you will know will be useful.
Make base for your glow
Start from making base at new layer, change blending mode to Color dodge. You can use shape brush (here, dragonflies or stars or anything), or normal soft round brush. Then, duplicate it and change blending mode to Linear dodge (Add). After, for better effect draw with big soft round brush dot over your thing and use Color dodge blending mode. You can duplicate layer with glow or layer with glow and base for better effect.
It's important to make good lightning with glowing things. Light isn't strong, but always light up space around.
Also, you can add some particles around glowing things. Just draw basic shape and change blending options, as is shown. Use the natural color spectrum. Base should be bri

Hints and Tips #2 : Water SplashesWater Splashes:Hints and Tips #2 : Water Splashes2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Creative Use Of Water In Macro
In this tutorial I'll show you an easy way to turn a simple bottle into
a tool for creating stunning water splashes in your pictures.
An empty dish washing liquid bottle or shampoo bottleA lens to shoot from distance OR you risk water damage
Preparing the bottle
Open your empty bottle. Clean it with water until no more soap bubbles are building.
Now fill it up with water.
Set a short exposure time to „freeze“ the water in motion.
Press on the bottle to release the water, while taking photos.
Be sure the water does not get inside your camera.
Technique #1 – Moment of Impact

Julien Coquentin The Dead Zone
the dead zone
Julien Coquentin (bwiti) is a French “street art” photographer who captures people interacting with their environments, usually public spaces.
Sometimes the photos are “natural” captures in the moment. Sometimes the subjects are posed to become a part of the scene, sometimes as a comment on or extension of existing atmospheric art in the background, like graffiti (as in his series, “Please Draw me a Wall.”)

A bit of help for Hetalian FanFic writers.So...I've noticed in almost all of the Hetalia fanfics I've read, that the writers tend to insert words from the country's native language/dialect/etc. (Often using Google Translate which is...) I will admit to doing these both before, but nowadays, I prefer to do an adequate amount of research into such phrases, making sure that I've bent the language appropriately and used words with the proper connotation before using it.A bit of help for Hetalian FanFic writers.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
(Starred Links are the ones I found most helpful.)
However, in cases where a country has more than one national language, it's hard to get a proper translation.
In Switzerland, four languages are spoken: Swiss- German, Romansch, French, and Italian, all in their various Swiss dialects. I've tried to shy away from the tangle that is Swiss Dialects and stick with basic Swiss-German, but it's also important for me to remember that he's also just as likely to sp
