-Will the prologue add suspense to the plot?
-If your prologue is a back story, how does it relate to the plot?
-Does it generate questions and spark curiosity?
-Does it tell information that readers would otherwise be confused without?
If you can't answer those questions, you might not need a prologue. If you can answer those questions, are you still worried about it? I can imagine you might be. All around people are unjustifyingly accusing all stories with a prologue to have a bad start, but I do not believe that to be so. A good prologue can be the best start if done right.
