When undercover investigators made their way onto Chinese fur farms recently, they found that many animals are still alive and struggling desperately when workers flip them onto their backs or hang them up by their legs or tails to skin them. When workers on these farms begin to cut the skin and fur from an animal's leg, the free limbs kick and writhe. Workers stomp on the necks and heads of animals who struggle too hard to allow a clean cut. When the fur is finally peeled off over the animals' heads, their naked, bloody bodies are thrown onto a pile of those who have gone before them. Some are still alive, breathing in ragged gasps and blinking slowly. Some of the animals' hearts are still beating five to 10 minutes after they are skinned. One investigator recorded a skinned raccoon dog on the heap of carcasses who had enough strength to lift his bloodied head and stare into the camera.

Before they are skinned alive, animals are pulled from their cages and thrown to the ground; workers bludgeon them with metal rods or slam them on hard surfaces, causing broken bones and convulsions but not always immediate death. Animals watch helplessly as workers make their way down the row. Put yourself in their position...

Ah, christmas...
Everyone is so happy and giving. Love is in the air...

Please don't mind me spoiling the Christmas spirit, but I really believe this is the perfect time of the year to think about others more than ourselves.

My latest art pack, AlternHATE, has been created with this specific idea on mind. Please take the time to see the works in full view and THINK before you decide to comment. All of the pieces showcased on this pack require a good amount of reviewing time so please do not say anything if you're not able to understand it.

Note: Works from this pack will be released randomly through the month of December and probably January. Although not registered, they're all protected by international copyright laws.

"The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend"
- Robertson Davies

Sixty million people have been killed in wars during the 20th Century...

As you read this, over 30 wars and conflicts rage around the world. Many of these wars go unreported, often due to political expediency or lack of interest.

Why don't we see this?
Why is it that our minds are still unable to comprehend such things? It's time to wake up...

Note: This is the last piece to be submitted to deviantART. For those interested, the complete collection will be in exhibition on-line at [link] pretty soon so make sure you keep an eye out for it. Thank you for all the support and interest!!

Originally designed for Adbusters (www.adbusters.org) TV Turn Off Week campaign, which has now evolved into Screen Free Week.

The poster was composed in Illustrator, and full dimensions are meant to be about 28"x18". It looks great printed at that size.

From the Commercial-Free Childhood fact-sheet on Children and Screen Time:

CHILDREN SPEND TOO MUCH TIME WITH SCREEN MEDIA.

On any given day, 29% of babies under the age of 1 are watching TV and videos for an

average of about 90 minutes. Twenty-three percent have a television in their bedroom.

Time with screens increases rapidly in the early years. Between their first and second

birthday, on any given day, 64% of babies and toddlers are watching TV and videos,

averaging slightly over 2 hours. Thirty-six percent have a television in their bedroom.

Data vary on the amount of time preschool children spend with screen media, but even the

most conservative findings show that children between the ages of two and five average 2.2

hours per day. Other studies show that preschoolers spend as much as 4.16

and 4.6 hours. per day using screen media.

Screen time can be habit-forming: the more time children engage with screens, the harder

time they have turning them off as they become older children.

Including when they’re multitasking, 8- to 18-year-olds consume an average of 7 hours and

11 minutes of screen media per day—an increase of 2.5 hours in just 10 years.

For older children and adolescents, excessive screen time is linked to increased psychological

difficulties that include hyperactivity, emotional and conduct problems, difficulties with

peers and poor school performance.

Really Simple.
"1984" quote that sums up my feelings on the recent election.
If you say it enough times, it becomes truth.

"The consciousness of being at war, and therefore in danger, makes the handing-over of all power to a small caste seem the natural, unavoidable condition of survival."
