a lullaby that lured me to sleep.
I reached up and touched your copper hair
as it wrestled with the summer breeze,
the softness of a cloud.
I treasured each word
that fell from your rose petal lips,
glorious paintings that sat my soul
I was guided by the light in your eyes,
a silver glow that brought me home,
to this vacant wonderland
and crumbling castles
that you promised to rebuild.
We tried to slay the dragons,
but they slayed us instead.

more than anything
A painter fell in love
with a poet
but I focused on my art
more than anything
We never had time
to love each other
because canvas and parchment
lured us away.
We only met
when I would sit for a portrait,
or he would pose for a poem.
Love is such a pretty
but the pain,
of which we had an abundance,
forged art so profound
that it's a wonder
we're both still

I touch the inside of my lips with my tongue,
in the hope that they will be there still.
The moon erodes, crumbles
into the sky, filling its velvet ink
with shining destinies, pinpricks of hope --
and I bay miseries to a fading memory.
The mist rising from the ground,
a ghostly apparition, constricts my chest,
restricts my breath into wordless,
song. In sun-strewn bars,
light leaks in, pale shadows
of a lovely embrace. The kiss of petals
on riverwater echoes across the valley
and dewdrops lie heavy
on my shoulderblades.
Spring has taken flight.

When my lips aren't pressed against your neck,
My arm not resting on your chest,
Rising and falling with each sleeping breath.
You'd mutter in your sleep,
Inaudible whispers sounding the sweetest melody.
I could listen every moment
To every sound you made silently on each breath.
Now the nights are too quiet.
My bed is a frozen lake
That used to move with the warmth of your sunshine,
And even the thousand times I take a breath,
I can no longer hear my lullaby.
I cannot fill this hole.

Walks over to his side and hands him a love note
Then he points and laughs at her for the feelings she confessed
She feels emptiness as a heartbeat in her chest
At home she’ll water down her pain with broken pride
Trying to fix the girl who fell apart inside
Long hair and deep brown eyes so sad and full of tears
She’s not that different, but can’t fit in with her peers
They all have their looks and brand name clothes
Just because she doesn’t, she’s the girl nobody knows
And this goes out to her; I just hope that it’s enough
To let her know I see the diamond hidden in the rough
Anxious.I retire from the crowd, feeling kinda strange.Anxious.2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
This anxiety is drowning me, somethings gotta change.
I gotta get in my mind's soul and start to rearrange––
your confidence for my sadness, care for an exchange?
This loneliness has company,
Gaining on me subtly,
I'm handing out custody,
I'm left with nil––utterly.
I think about tomorrow; wasting my today.
Already feel broke, before I even gotta pay.
I hear what I wanna hear, not what you have to say.
Losing bits of self; as I try and make my way.
This stressing is messing––
maybe it's a blessing;
dressing up depressing.
Trying to fool me, as it's assessing––
keeping me on my toes daily; guessing.
I need a change, now
I want to be the cause of "wow"
Just give me a go; allow,
I'll be the answer to your "how".

How did I love you?How did I love you?How did I love you?2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Intensely, immensely, densely to the point of stupid, I think the naked baby had it in for me, little cupid.––Struck me with the bow, the poison started slow, then it caught momentum and began to grow, took over like a ball of snow, quite the blow, but now I know, it was just a once-upon-a-time-ago.
How did I love you?
Let me count the ways, actually let me count the days, the overnight stays, wakin' up to blaze, to sustain a decent daze–– I guess we'll chalk it down to just a phase.––
That lasted years, building fears releasing tears, downing beers, forcing happiness back in gear, oh dear, the end is near, afraid to see us clear––
Incase we saw, our frozen love, began to thaw, yet we stuck around for more.––
We were happy, unless we weren't, too close to the flame, we got burnt, it took us years, we finally learnt––
To call it quits, it was on the fritz, no longer fit–
