The Making of YOSHINARI'S LITTLE WITCH ACADEMIAFor all aspiring artists/ students who whish to work in 2D animation production, and those already in 2D animation who know little to nothing about actual 2D animation production, here is but a glimpse of what it's like. This is also a pretty brilliant program enacted by Japanese grants to nurture the talent pool for the new generation. Watch director Yoh Yoshinari (gurren Lagaan, Evangelion, FLCL) train 5 young animators at his newly founded animation company STUDIO TRIGGER (KIll LA KILL), as he guides them through the process of helping him create the first episode of the wildly popular Little Witch Academia OVA. Inspiring stuff and a true peek behind the curtain of what it's like for young artists/creatives/animators who work under a giant like Yoshinari. The Making of YOSHINARI'S LITTLE WITCH ACADEMIA1 year ago in Personal More Like This

I HATE THIS GUY. Seriously. I quit, LOL.I discovered Kim Jung Gi during my years living in South Korea when I came across his first sketchbook in '09. It was a blue and red bible of non-stop art. it made me cry. SEEING him do what he does, however, makes me contemplating giving up art altogether, lol. T________T #SoGoodI HATE THIS GUY. Seriously. However, "Will my dreams ever come true?" is not the most important question you can ask yourself right now.
The bigger question that bad news reveals is this:
" IF MY DREAM DIES, WHAT WILL I DO?"
It is wise to decide how you'll respond to failure and seemingly insurmountable obstacles before you face them" :

THIS is how you use the FLASH/ ANIMATION program.By being an exceptional artist/animator FIRST. Flash is just a very limited vector-based, digital graphics program. DC puss out. While at my local comic-book emporium, I had a quick leaf through Harley Quinn #0 to check out the winning page from DC’s recent talent search.DC puss out.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
It didn’t do much to dampen the disdain I harbour for the big-name comic companies.
For a start, I’m not sure how that page was selected as the cream of the crop. Bravo to the artist for being selected, sure, but there were far more dynamic, lively examples I saw posted here on DA, and I'm genuinely surprised that none of them were chosen. The page selected feels just as stiff, stagnant, sterile and devoid of life as much of the other stuff DC discharges onto the shelves (which might have been why they ran with it).
The main gripe I have, though, is that they changed the final panel.
For those that (somehow) missed the whoo-haa that the whole talent search kicked off: the script DC provided to their would-be artists called for illustrations depicting the titular Harley trying to off herself in a series of absurd ways: holding

style is just how the artist feels like treating his or her world at any given time!
it is influenced by the styles of other artists the artist admires
it is an amalgamation of influences mixed with personal sensibility....
it is perpetually changing and evolving
and it is not a trademarked property
see, i personally am a mix of influences from michael turner , adam hughes, marc silvestri, alex ross a few concept artist, and my design is greatly influenced by stan winston studio
my cartoonyer style is influenced greatly by disney and don bluth with a dash of manga and a healthy dose of j scott campbell who can probably tell you a similar story about the origins of his own style
its the nature of humanity people.
we stand on each others shoulders striving for greatness. so too will i influence quite a few artists who will adapt my own approaches into their workflow.
also.... i'm batman!
just to see who is still reading XD

I Made a New Tutorial!Stuff I SayI Made a New Tutorial!2 months ago in Personal More Like This
I made a tutorial based on the process from the gator dragon I posted yesterday. It covers a technique to make it easier than ever to paint complex scales and patterns without screwing up your values and lighting. Not only do you get a 1 hour and 40 minute fully narrated 1080p video, but it comes with other goodies like brushes and a psd of the image. All of that for only $3. If you guys like it let me know and maybe I'll make more tutorials on other subjects. Go check it out here and here for paypal customers.

Anime: home of the arsehole.I can list a whole range of eastern-born cartoons that I think look absolutely gorgeous, and whose visual style I wish very much that I could emulate.Anime: home of the arsehole.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Only a handful of those, however, can I refer to as being "good". Or even "tolerable".
Having watched them for most of my life, going back to things like Mysterious Cities of Gold and the original Astro Boy, I can say with a certain degree of authority that: Japanese storytelling is a bit wank. Daring and dynamic visuals, sure. Crap narrative.
And it can't ALL be blamed on "bad translation".
There's a wide range of gripes to be had, but chief among them these days is that the major characters, those who one would assume you're to root for, across however many episodes the series consists of, are generally complete and utter dicks.
I'm currently wading through Gurren Lagann, a series which people have raved about for a while but which I'd not had the chance to watch until now (spoiler approaching, should you be in the same boat).

Enhorabuena: ¡cuánto talento!Es un chorro cósmico de placer entrar todos los días a este grupo.Enhorabuena: ¡cuánto talento!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Some people asked me... Why do you still draw Ms Paint and not Photoshop? MS-Paint sucks and it will never get to the top rated digital-art category. Change your art program to new improved ones that doesn't suck. Some people asked me...3 years ago in Personal More Like This
My Answer: Because MS-Paint has grown me from the very beginning of my digital drawing-hobby.
Two, It never sucks. MS-Paint is free... it always stayed at the accessories tab in windows.
Three, never underestimate the Ms-Painted Skilled artists. Anyone CAN draw with any program they want.
If Ms-Paint is like the underdog of digital-art world? (Then Imagine the Initial-D's Trueno AE86 and Takumi... just like MS-PAINT and Myself xD lol)
And if they want me to give up drawing, then HELL NO! >_
Double Dragon NEONHi there guys! As maybe you know Double Dragon NEON was released the last week! and whoa! It was an incredible project! I´ve got several notes and emails asking if I was involved in the game: "billy and Jimmy looks like your charas", "the girls!", etc... so, yes! I worked in chara design and concept art. Was really an honor not only to be part of a franchise that I love like Double Dragon (as a kid, I spent hours playing the original game on arcades and then withe the NES version) but also to work with one of the game developers I deeply admire like Wayforward in this love letter to the 80´s. You can play it right now in your Xbox 360 and PS3!!! I hope you like it! I love brawlers! hope to upload some of the images soon tooDouble Dragon NEON3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Also this is the last week for pre-release of CLOUD RIDERS, the new Kerion album! you can pre-order it and get some goodies like a big poster of the cover I´ve done and also some nice cards of the characters I designed for
Toho's Godzilla Returning in 2016?!First off, thank you so much everyone for the lovely birthday wishes You guys are too good to me.Toho's Godzilla Returning in 2016?!4 months ago in Personal More Like This
Secondly, this was a hell of a birthday surprise.
Yesterday, it was formally announced that Toho Studios would be reviving their OWN Godzilla film, set to be released in 2016, with production starting in 2015. Speculation abounds on the project, but the biggest question seems to be the focus on CGI or traditional Suitmation. The article cites the recent adaptation of the manga Parasyte as an example of the "high quality filmmaking" that Japan is currently capable of, but given the franchise's tradition of practical effects, and perhaps an unwillingness to appear inadequate when compared to the hundreds of millions spent of American SFX, we may be seeing something akin to Shinji Higuchi's Attack on Titan adaptation - a combination of sparse miniatures, green screening, props, CGI, and suits. One can only hope.
