Don't let this short list fool you, there are TONS MORE of Nagel sets available for free online, just google them. There are a few brushes in my arsenal that I can't share since they are proprietary brushes from studios that I worked at, but they aren't anything more sophisticated than what the Nagels can do.
Also, I am 99.9% this is where the rake brush came from:

Need textures? We had a feature of drawing references yesterday, so let's take a look at textures now. I must admit that I'm a total freak when it comes to this topic. I love textures, I love making them and I love seeing them everywhere. In this feature I'll also include some tutorials, traditional and digital, so you could learn how to make some on your own.Need textures?2 years ago in Art Features More Like This

Holy flamin' electrons, Batman! So, I awoke to something of a surprise, this morning — hence the impetus to actually post a journal entry on here! — discovering over 1000 messages in my Feedback list, today, thanks to the free PS brushes I posted, yesterday ( http://fav.me/d6g805t ). Yeah. Didn't quite expect that. I mean, I've been using those brushes for ages, and didn't consider them all that special. But, it's gratifying to know others like them, too.Holy flamin' electrons, Batman!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
In any case, I'm under no illusions. One surprisingly popular deviation does not a trend make. And, given I've only posted something like a dozen deviations in total in the past year, since joining the site, it should be fairly obvious I'm not exactly the most prolific artist out there. At least, not when it comes to posting my work. So, I'm not expecting hordes to be regularly beating a path to my door. (Still, the attention's been kinda fun, I must confess. They say "page views" is only a number — and it's true; it doesn't mean much — but it's a fun n

There are a plethora of brushes available to you on photoshop. This guide will explain different brush settings, as well as how to install different brush packs here on deviantART. This guide is for pressure sensitive pen tablets. It is going to be much easier to do things with a tablet. Ones by Wacom are good, and you can get a bamboo for under 99$ USD.
Basic Brushes in Photoshop
It's important to stick with default ones to learn all the settings. You can do so many things with the hard round brush.
Bring up your brush palette in one of the following ways. (note I am in CS3, so the icons will look much older, but same thing. )

Inspiration: Art websitesMany people asked me about which sites I use (or used) to learn and keep myself updated about art. So I decided to make a list with art websites that offer tutorials, advice, or other content that inspired me. Of course there are many other individual artists that inspire me greatly, but I've tried to keep this list to the ones that provide the community of advice and tutorials (otherwise I could go on forever).Inspiration: Art websites7 months ago in Art Features More Like This

A large collection of video tutorials, mainly on human anatomy. Very detailed, to the point, and with visuals that make it easy to follow even for non-native English speakers.

Tutorials and techniquesQuite a lot of people keep asking me for tutorials and to be honest I see no point in creating yet another strip on how to paint skin/clothes/light/carrots/whatever. There are so many of them out there that it would be simply a waste of time to sit and basically copy what's already been told.Tutorials and techniques4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Instead, I've decided to make a compilation of different tutorials and charts that I personally use to learn how to paint.
The most important thing you need to learn even before starting to read a tutorial is that all walk-throughs are meant for you to understand how things work. My point is that after reading and later practicing a tutorial called 'how to paint a glass duck' you should be able to paint not only a glass duck but also anything else made of glass. You should concentrate on understanding the rules and patterns instead of trying to copy what you see on the image. Otherwise you'll end up knowing how to paint only a few things from only one perspective and one lightning pattern.

Whatcha doin' today?
Well since my subbie is ending soon and I needed to get at least one more feature in until next time, here's an excuse for a journal
So, I get comments all the time from people asking why are my lines so smooth, how do I color so neatly and all types of stuff like that. Well, some of you have been to my livestream sessions and seen how I've done it. But for those who have not and those who'd like a little help, here are my brushes. I use Paint tool SAI for anyone who is wondering.
First, lets start off with a few basics:
This is what my stabilizer is set to. It goes from 0 to S-7
I usually have it set at 7 because it feels the most comfortable to me. The higher it's set the smoother the lines but at the cost of the speed of the brush. When you have them set at different rates you'll begin to feel the difference, so experiment with what you feel works better for you.
My color wheel is set to HSV. I tend to use greyer shades in my drawings. Again, this

[Revised] How to Protect Yourself Against FraudUPDATE - OCTOBER 2, 2014:[Revised] How to Protect Yourself Against Fraud9 months ago in Personal More Like This
Paypal has changed their layout, you can still send invoices but you can no longer select digital goods.
I haven't had time to really look into it and come up with a solution.
but you pretty much HAVE to send out something physical now if you want to be fully protected. There's still main points in this journal that describe how to go about that.
This Journal is currently Under Revision.
Points have been brought to my attention that have caused me to need to revise this journal.
I am still digging around on my free time to see if I can find a way around this. I will update daily.
Please note that this is specifically for Artists who use Paypal to sell digital goods.
OK, so there has been many artists being scammed lately through Paypal with large chargebacks. If you have been hit by a chargeback recently please feel free to note me and I will try my best to help

Brushes for download!I have decided to share my Photoshop brushes with the world. This particular set has elements from the brushes of Whit Brachna, Maciej Kuciara, Sergey Kolesov, Algenpfleger, Danny Luvisi, inetgrafx and a bunch of other great artists, as well as some of my own custom brushes! You'll definitely recognize many of them if you are familiar with the usual concept art brushes, but this selection works really well for me.Brushes for download!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
