Belated Anime Expo '12 ReportSorry for the lack of updates and inactiveness, guys. I've just been generally unmotivated for everything, but I figured I'd buckle down and get this journal over with. XD; Here's my report from Anime Expo a month ago!Belated Anime Expo '12 Report3 years ago in Personal More Like This
We drove for six hours. I hate long car rides, so I made myself sleep for a lot of it. After that we stood in lines. Very long lines. But I'm glad we went up a whole day early just to get our tickets because it was nice walking in the next day without having to worry about lines. The volunteers running the lines were good sports, though. XD Our original plans to go to the beach fell through because we arrived a little later than expected and by the time we finished standing in line, it was too late. :C So instead, we decided to get Subway, and watch Spanish soap operas.
On Friday we were "fancy Vocaloids!" ChEsHiRe-K and :

Last year I visited a craft fair and discovered in the paper decoration / paper crafting a super great new material.
Maybe some of you know it.
But here in german Cosplay scene, and perhaps also for many other countries it's really a novelty.
It can be used for paper decoration, for gemstones, paint and much more.
In this tutorial I made a kind of decoration for costumes versions/ setting f
A Year of Cosplay: 2013Wow, so another year has passed along with another line of cosplays. I’ll be a little more lengthy this year and share my thoughts about each costume I completed this year. Go below the cut to read more about my summary of cosplays for 2013..A Year of Cosplay: 20131 year ago in Personal More Like This
The first costume I completed in 2013 I had actually started in 2012. And that was Skyloft Link, which was debuted at Taiyou Con 2013.
When I played Skyward Sword for the first time, I loved Link’s Skyloft design and I caved. It wasn’t a cosplay that I had initially planned on doing, it just…sort of happened on a whim. I still didn’t quite understand the concept of lining, so things aren’t lined properly, but the fabric is “double-sided.” And I was still a little intimidated by applique, so I used fabric paint for the designs. But despite that, I thought the overall look of the costume tur
DashCon - How not to do a conventionIt seems like every week there’s a new convention going on, and this was no different. DashCon (purportedly the largest gathering of tumblr uses to date), was happening this weekend and... well... it fell apart in many gloriously horrible ways.DashCon - How not to do a convention9 months ago in Personal More Like This
First there were accusations of scamming, as the convention owners crowd-sourced $17,000 to secure the venue (which should’ve been done MONTHS in advance). All attempts to contact the hotel have resulted in the hotel saying there was no need to raise that money and that they never received any of it.
Then there were the cancelations. The Welcome to Nightvale people were flown in, but then told they weren’t going to be paid till AFTER they performed for everyone (which is already suspicious) and also told they weren’t getting reimberesed for the hotel, flight, food, etc. So sadly WTNV had to cancel at the last minute, resulting in the convention owners refunding patrons with “an extra hour in the ball pit.” The

There’s a hint of fairy dust in the air at the Firefly Path workshop where JoEllen Elam (Lillyxandra) brings her fairytale costume creations to life.
Weaving her magic through every piece of the enchanting princess gowns and fantastical fairie wears she creates, JoEllen is here to show that Cinderella isn’t the only one with a fairy godmother. Armed with only a love for cosplaying, a passion for costuming and a can—do attitude, this self taught costume designer beg

How difficult it always is, to get stones for a costume in the right color, size and shape.
That's why I uploaded this tutorial today: How to make gems.
How to work step by step:
What materials do you need:
- resin and hardener
- tinting paint
- cups and spoons/ chopsticks to stir
- maybe a scale
- silicone mold for/ of stones (I bought it on etsy)
- aluminium foil
Before Cosplay Makeup: Basic Skincare! Before I write about cosplay makeup, I figured I should discuss some skincare basics. I feel it's important to know how to take care of your skin before you start putting gunk on it! This is really very basic so I think those of you with your own regimens already might be bored by it! But here it goes! Before Cosplay Makeup: Basic Skincare!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm not an awesome guru wizard thing, but I'll just share some general concepts and products that work for me. It's different for everybody, but I hope this will be helpful! For your sreference, my skin type is combination: normal to dry with an oily nose. Hahah! Not my T-zone, just my nose!
Recently, my male friends had gotten very interested in makeup for cosplay and asked me for tips on how to go about it. (I think this was fueled by Kaname's visit to our country for Cosplay Mania '12, and they saw how beautiful he looks. ) I decided to ask them about their skincare regimen to figure out what products might work for their skin type.
When I asked what they wash their face w
Oh, the Blatent WhoringSo, you're going to a convention, it's a casual day for you, but you would rather dress up like a Kardashian and hang yourself rather than show up without expressing your love for a certain fandom. Well how about a snazzy new shirt? Could Zack Fair help? http://society6.com/KKoji/Zack-Fair_T-shirt#11=50&4=84 or are you more gothic and need to show up everyone with Undertaker? http://society6.com/KKoji/Undertaker_T-shirt#11=50&4=75? Decisions, decisions. The geeks who aren't hating on you out of envy, will mercilessly hit on you after seeing you sport these fantastic togs! http://society6.com/KKoji/tshirts (you can customize your own colours too!)Oh, the Blatent Whoring2 years ago in Personal More Like This
"But Koji" you say, "I have this elaborately lovely costume I'm wearing :[ ! A T-shirt over a green chocobo outfit would make me the laughing stock!".
Now now, dear heart. It will be ok. For perhaps you could carry all those freebies and flyers or hell, even your lunch in a fabulous Koji Tote bag? So MANY to choose fr

Gorgeous doll photosSome of these are old, apologies for that. But if something hits me, it hits me. I looked for photos that had mood, movement, concept and/or impact. I have to say that I'm not a fan of two or more photos together in the same image, but I couldn't avoid all of them (the first photo of all multi-images were the ones that caught my attention).Gorgeous doll photos2 years ago in Personal More Like This
This took me a while. As I've said, I don't follow other doll photographers/owners that much, so I spent a lot of time doing searches for photos I've seen sometime but didn't remember whose they were. And another good chunk of time just browsing through bjd photos and people's galleries. A lot of good ones are still missing, but not all of them are in DA and some have already been removed. It's been a while since I was active in this hobby outside of my own stuff.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy these as much as I did.

So you're like:
So you go home and try to study like:
You look over notes hoping that helps, but that made it worse so you're like:
So you give up, go out and have the most magical week of your life:

COSPLAY MAKEUP TUTORIAL!Hi guys!! Thank you as always to all watchers and everyone who faves and comments - I'm so sorry I don't have much time these days to reply to everything, but I definitely do read and appreciate them all!COSPLAY MAKEUP TUTORIAL!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've been asked so many times I've lost count to put together a makeup tutorial on how I do my cos makeup - and I finally did it!
I hope this is a little helpful, although some disclaimers - I have Caucasian features, so my makeup will be very different to someone with a different face shape. I use a lot of eyemakeup, much more than a lot of people, just because I do lol. My eyes a pretty big naturally, so I line them right up the edge, as opposed to widening the eye by drawing further out. A few things like that to bear in mind ^_^ That said, hope you enjoy! *chu*
Any questions please feel free to ask!

It was so windy at the hill. Our hair and wig were all in the sand. The day was hot and very sunny. But it was rather comfortable in our uniform as it is white. Our friend Enirel was wearing black clothes. It was hard. Men who like black at any weather... aaa... and they say that girls do crazy things to look good ))
Cosplay makeup tips! Here's some tips on cos MAKEUP!Cosplay makeup tips!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
These are my recommended things to do with your make up you don't have to read this!
Use sugar and honey on your lips before anything! Combine a little bit of honey and lots of sugar in a small container, and then rub it on! It really does help with the overall look, nobody likes cracked lips yuck! Lols After you do that use a CHAPSTICK, NOT LIPGLOSS, then lipstick or whatevers.
If you're a girly girl use a shimmer over pink lipstick (ex. Lolitas/ Dolly/ Fairy Kei)
Little bit of red blended for general girl cos lol.
NUDE lipstick for crossplaying boys! (Or concealer)
Deep red or black for more dramatic characaters.
If you have more thick eyebrows: Use concealer first then wait for it to dry a little. After put on white glue, nontoxic, NO SUPER GLUE. After, trace your eyebrows using watercolors or eyeliner. In heat, this method won't wear off!
If you have more thin eyebrows: Use a little glue on the insides of your e

Week 2 helping students at CDA. I know I sound like a broken record telling students to slow down.
But we ( Kevin, Dan, and Esmerelda ) can't stress that enough. Really think out the marks that you put down.
You'll get to spend more time drawing and not fixing. When I sit down to help students, I ask them simple questions
and they always answer correctly. Example: Me: What view is the head in? Student: Side view. Slightly tilted
away. Me: Correct. So let's draw the base head. ( we go through the steps involved in drawing this view )
Me: Now what do we do next? Student: Draw the carpet shape to envelope the torso. Me: Right ( We go through
the steps ) Main point being that the student knows this stuff. Just needs to slow down.
Better slow and correct than fast and sloppy.
When you go to drawing workshops. It's better to draw slower in the beginning. Maybe
