People asked about my brushes I use in my speedpaintigs, I've made last time some video process showing my workflow and promised to put some brushes into my gallery so you can finally download them now for free! I am going to develop them but it is the most current set I use with my special brush I use in every one speedpaint, I mean special! Keep sharing and feel free to download!

A collection of all the brushes I find myself dabbling with when doing environment artwork. Typically a select few are used much more than the others but they all certainly have their uses. The image in the background is made entirely using the brushes found in this set, with every brush being used at least once. I normally don't use them so extensively or so exclusively when painting and I certainly don't encourage it, but in the very least it shows what they can achieve. Please remember folks that good art is not all about the brushes you use. They are as much a tool as photoshop itself and should be viewed as such when you're still learning.
Some of the brushes have been made by myself and the rest have been tweaked from others that are freely available on the internet.
They should all work in Photoshop CS3 and above but I cannot vouch for older versions, sorry
Hopefully some of you will find them as useful as I have over the years
NOTE: These brushes are free to use and may be used to produce commercial work, but please DO NOT redistribute the brush set itself for profit. They have always been and always should be free for everyone. If you should ever see a website selling this set for money please kindly re-direct people here.
I've been getting requests from people all around to share the brushes I use for my illustrations! Here are the brushes I use for basically -everything- when I paint. Some of them I've created myself, and others I've gathered from other sets through the years.
These brushes are for Photoshop, and the above video will explain the setup and format of the brushes, which need to display as large thumbnails, with 9 brushes per row.
They are a combination of brushes I've made myself and those culled from friends, colleagues, and other great artists. A lot of them might have bizarre names, but they're all categorized so it shouldn't be a problem.
I don't use a lot of crazy brushes but along with the standard soft round, hard round, and chalk brushes this is a workhorse of mine when working in Photoshop. Simply add the .abr file to the Presets>Brushes directory in your Adobe Photoshop application folder. I hope you can get some use out of it!
Hey guys, a lot of you asked for my brushes so here they are.. All of them are just a collection of other artists, I just show you which one i use a lot and don't forget its not about the brushes! practice !

By popular demand, you guys wanted more, so here's more 27 smudge brushes. I created these brushes from scratch (Apart from 3 of them, sorry for not saying who, I just don't remember) due to the fact that I want to take my work have a more painterly feel.. Most of you know that I use smudge tool 90% of the time in my paintings, so this only made sense.
If you share these around, please make sure to put my DA link along with it, these took a lot of time to make and refine.
(I will make a youtube video on how I personally use them in my professional work, I'll edit this section out with a link to it when I'm done.)
Quick Tip's on how to use it: - Put the smudge tool strength on 100% - Apart from the top 3 brushes, for the most part if you want a nice texture, try to only tap with you tablet pen when using a smudge brush, the random setting will create a better mark of the texture. - It works best in contrasty areas of your painting
How to load it: - Right click on a canvas. - Click on the cog wheel icon (or arrow depending on the PS ver.) . - Select load brushes. - Pick John Silva Smudge Pack Painter Edition.abr file. - ???. - Painterly profit!
