Challenge me, art-wise!It took a while to realize that, no matter how pretty the last few sketch-dumps where, I wasn't really learning anymore.
Sometimes a large user-base just feels like pressure. And pressure makes it feel like you can't afford to fail anymore. And you'll stay inside your comfort zone. And with result. Last years improvement was close to non-existent. But I realize now that staying in my comfort zone will not get me anywhere.
The lack of improvement and recent login issues made me think. So I went back at where I came from. I took a pencil and started sketching again. Real, ugly sketches, with a lot of wobbly lines and such. Anatomy, dogs, and various other things. I realize now; I want to keep this up. Really. I want to draw things that are (slightly) out of my comfort zone, in order to learn.
And I want you
2013 coming to an endEDIT: Annnnd... I'm experiencing login issues again. Looks like it isn't so easy to solve this time. I guess you have to do it without me for now T__T2013 coming to an end1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Another year that went by so terribly fast. And as much as I am against posting journals that are too personal (especially on the internet, since you never know who is gonna read them), these end-of-year overviews kinda became a tradition. The 2011 and 2012 versions were great to look back at. Even now. So I can see what kind of shit occupied my mind back then. And even now some events of the past still manage to inspire me to a certain level.
So here we go!
Job changing, again. Not that I

Paint Tool SAI, Clip Studio Paint Pro, and/or Photoshop CS6.

It's a Wet Edge effect called "Fringe" in Paint Tool SAI.

I often change mine to suit different drawings, so what you see may not be what I always use. You can ask to see my tools panel during a stream. If I didn't see your request (since I sometimes focus on drawing instead of the chat), please wait and ask again later!
"What canvas sizes do you draw on? (Digital)"

I just came by your profile and saw your art, and was very impressed. I think you have a very nice art style. Now I'm working on this project. It's called <project>. It's an awesome story about <subject>. I'm currently writing the script for it, but I'm planning to make a visual novel. I can't tell too much about the story, since I don't want it to be copied, but it's going to be really cool. The point is; I need illustrators. I'm an excellent writer, but I can't do illustration at all. And therefore, I wanted to ask for your help. I need about 60 pages illustrated and colored. Would you work together with me on this one? I don't have any money to spend, as I'm not an established writer yet. But when the visual novel gets published, you can get a percentage of my profit.
With kind regards,
Well... let me translate this for you.

The art of improvement5/4/2015 UPDATE: Added preface at the beginning and Inspiration at the end! added some thoughts on some other things I wanted to share. The art of improvement1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Alright, so this is a comment and question I've been receiving a lot from people!
How did you improve so fast?
Firstly, I want to say I do not think of myself as a professional artist, teacher or someone who "knows the secret to becoming a master artist". These are just things that I have picked up over the years, and noticed so I thought I might as well share my experience with improvement in effort to help others find their own paths of improvement and learning as artists. There are still many things I have to learn, and wish to improve about my own art! The path of an artist is never ending, in my opinion!
I consider the beginning of my journey when I withdrew from college. I had decided to take a year off from school, to explore myself more as a person, gain confidence and rethink my path that I wanted to take in school. Of course,

It's Artist's Toolbox again! And it wouldn't be right if we skipped an article representing traditional media For today's topic I picked Pencil, probably the most traditional of them all. Even if you thought you already knew everything there is to know about pencils, give this article a shot, it might surprise you ! Besides pencils, I will describe Graphite sticks and probably my most favorite drawing tool, Charcoal. Final part of this article is a feature of very helpful Tutorials created by your fellow deviants, don't overlook Happy reading!

It was a cold day in February. I can still remember that day.
It wasn't that busy at my job. Just another day of mostly waiting for feedback. So I took the liberty to surf around the internet for a bit. Like every day before, I checked DeviantArt. I had posted some art some while ago. I submitted it to some groups, but didn't quite get the response that I hoped for. Let alone; the feedback. It's hard to get feedback on your art. Nowadays most people just fave and run, or tell you that your work is awesome (which is sweet, of course) without any further explanation. Most of the art forums that I used to reside on, where either dead, or I'd outgrown the user-base so much that I was at the point that there weren't any more talented users that could give me feedback anymore. If I had to wrap it up in just one word: Frustrating. That's what is was.
Of course I had my idols on DeviantArt. Famous people like yuumei en sakimichan whose watchers hit those astronom

It was a day like any other, and I was just surfing DeviantArt, browsing the many deviations in my inbox. While I did so, my eye wandered to something that was called an 'tutorial on manga anatomy'. As usual, I was curious about the content. And as the preview image was pretty small, I wanted to check this out. It seems like this girl, let's name her Abbey (it's not her real name, but I think calling her 'that girl' is so damn confusing) had made a tutorial on male manga anatomy. Nothing wrong with that, you'd say. But I've been following Abbey for a while already. I originally met her in the forums, asking for feedback on one of her fanart drawings. Mostly anatomy related stuff. I gave her some tips. We talked a bit. And I followed her soon after, as I thought her art looked pretty promising altogether.
Now, I didn't know Abbey in real life. But she was a beginning artist, nowhere towards a level
