As in please read it, don't skim it, it's got such great information on both how to become a better artist and how to treat other artists.
TL;DR: Saying "I wish I was as good as you" or "I'll never be as good as you" or something similar is not a compliment. It's a personal lament and many artists can do without it. Thanks.
The Commissioner's Guide to Proper Etiquette tips & tricks to ensure that the artist does not hate your guts after you commission themThe Commissioner's Guide to Proper Etiquette4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Take the time to realize this is aimed at commissioners, not artists. Yes, there are a ton of things artists fuck up on, trust me, I know. Oh, I know. However that alone could be a whole 'nother journal- which I might go ahead and do because I've had frustrating experiences with artists. When I'm talking about bad commissioners here though, I'm talking about the worst of the worst. Why on earth do I think a timid question 3 weeks after your commission was accepted asking about how it's going is "badgering"?
These are things I've witnessed, I'm talking about the horribly entitled, belittling, superior attitude commissioners! The ones that send you a billion notes and PMs asking when their art will be done, and rudely, when it's only been 3 days! So no, I'm not saying artists should step all over you- because trust me, some will. And by god, they sh

For a rather long time now, there have been massive complaints against doll and base-makers. Accusations, saying that base/doll creators can't actually draw anything on their own, and that they're simply unoriginal, creativity-lacking tracers.
You know what, though? If these makers/dollers weren't as popular as they were, you wouldn't give them a second glance. You wouldn't give a flying pickle, and you know it. You'd go about your business and wouldn't even half-bat an eyelash. I have several good friends who are WONDERFUL artists, both in AND out of dolling/base-making. Working with bases also helps curve one's proportion accuracy, as well. Personally, I rarely use them, but I can safely say that I've learned a thing or two from when I have used them.
It just really eats me up to see people ca
Rant: KHR Fandom shorthandsAlright, this is something that many fans of the series 'Katekyo Hitman Reborn!' can agree on: Fandom shorthands are cool, handy and fun. Yes, they are really: They make it easy for us to shorten up our favorite pairings and getting to know them all out of your head is a real achievement too. Nice for fans who really want to nerd out, so to say!Rant: KHR Fandom shorthands4 years ago in Personal More Like This
It irks me a lot when people do not quite UNDERSTAND how these certain shorthands are chosen, especially the numerical ones. (the letters and abbreviated names should be understood with ease, if not, please just leave- )
Just an explanation for those who didn't know this yet:
The fandom shorthands are chosen by the sound of the numbers, these can be either Japanese, Chinese (though this is the case by few, Ken is a partial example.) and sometimes Engrish (Take Tsuna as another partial example.) Yuni is a very special case though; Her shorthand is 01 because in Latin, the number 1 is really pronounced a

Haters gonna hateI'm writing it because there were quarrel in comments on one of my traced bases. Such things surely happens to all of traced base makers, so I'm sure I'm not speaking only on my behalf.Haters gonna hate4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm not going to start another squarrel in comments on this journal, I just want to express my opinion. Which doesn't say that tracing is a good thing. No. I mostly agree with all of the people who say it's stealing, it's agains rules, it's just simply wrong. But tracing is also a good way to learn anathomy (here, you can say, learning anathomy on your own is better, not learning on someone else's work, someone's who worked hard on them), to have fun (no, not fun in stealing, but fun in tracing, creating something 'new' from something that already exists), to show your idea for some pic (here I mean more editing than tracing itself).
The ones who say that traced base makers should be reported and their accounts should be disactived, have right at some points. But it doesn't mean they have to report and
