It was the day after the El Macho incident. Everyone was traumatized, especially Gru and the girls. Lucy felt bad for them, since they thought their father and his partner were both going to die in a volcano. She was still traumatized too, for she wouldn’t go near water now as well as hiding under her coffee table when her neighbor’s son launched his fake rocket into the air. She decided it was time to have some fun, and she knew just the thing for the three girls. She rapped on the black door again, and tapped her foot as she waited once more. “Go away Jillian.” She chuckled at the sound of Gru’s statement.
“It’s not Jillian.”
There was a small silence, and then the door slowly creaked open, revealing Gru himself. “Oh! Lucy! I deedn’t know zhat was you….” She smiled. “Can I ask you and the girls a question?” He shrugged and gestured for her to come in. The house was dark and def

You and Kevin walked for a while in silence. You were trying to think of something to say to him. But what could you say?
"So....weather seems good." You say, silently cursing yourself. Kevin puts his hands behind his head and stretched his body back. "Si. Ti seod mees doog yadot."
Your gaze falls on Kevin. You're mesmerized by the tall Minion. You've been like that for two months now. From what Dave has told you, you're in love with Kevin. You have all of the signs. You're nervous around him, he's always on your mind, when he looks at you, you look away, your heart beats rapidly when he's near you. "I do love him." You say out loud, subconciously.
"Poka?" Kevin looks up at you. Your face turns crimson red. "Uh, nothing!" You say. Kevin shrugs and looks ahead of him. You sigh. 'I need to tell him somehow.'
The two of you round a corner and come across the Paradise Mall. You stop Kevin.

Lucy giggled a bit as she slid her frying pan back and forth, making her currently cooking pancake fly up into the air and fall back down onto the simmering surface. It was a warm Saturday morning, and Lucy was especially excited for this Saturday, since it was a big deal. "Vhat did you say dear?," came a deep exotic accent as Gru walked into the kitchen, not looking up from the daily paper in his hands. Lucy jumped with fright from the sudden voice, and the pancake flew through the air, landing on Gru's face. "Vhat the!?" Lucy smiled with embarrassment, quickly walking over. "Sorry. Here...." She lifted the pancake with her thing fingers, chuckling nervously as Gru stared with frustration at her. The glare soon turned into a loving glance, and he laughed too. "Nice aim zhere Lucy!," he said, folding the paper as he watched his wife put the pancake on a plate.

My name is Daniel. I'm 15 years old and I'm diagnosed with depression. I have a tough life. Let me explain to you why.
My mother is an alcoholic. And extreme one at that. My Dad is the workaholic, too. So he doesn't come around to see Mom until 11 OClock at night. Since my Mom is an alcoholic, she acts really neglectful of me. I wish that I were somewhere else...And better yet, I wanna be someone else.
Until one day, it all changed.
It was Winter time, December 20th. Christmas time. With all the crap I've been going through, it feels like the most depressing type of year. I was outside and I felt a little suicidal, but mostly depressed. My Mom got drunk again and forced me out of the house or she'd beat me up. Though I felt suicidal, I didn't want to end my life. I just wanted to end my pain...
Suddenly, I noticed a shining star up in the night sky. I felt that I should make a wish on it. I was never a fan of making wishes on stars, but I felt...that this could be a chance.

Everyone from the AVL went home early, and to show their thanks for all the support he had given them, the Gru residence invited Silas over for an evening dinner.
Silas accepted the offer, for he had nothing to do once he went home, and spent the last half hour trying to find where the group’s house was.
Finally stopping in front of the large, dark household, he clambered out, surprised at the bright pastel colors of chalk and toys in the front driveway and lawn.
He had rang the doorbell, still trying to remember why there were children’s objects in the front, when a young girl answered the door.
She had brown hair and glasses, and to his eyes, looked around twelve years of age.
“Hi! You must be our parent’s boss! Come on in!”
Finally grabbing a hold of the thought as he walked in, he remembered that this was one of the three girls at the wedding, and was supposedly one of Gru’s daughters.
“Silas! So glad you could make it!

Lucy smiled down at Agnes, who was beaming back up while holding a box of crayons and two sheets of paper. “Sure sweetheart!” She sat down on the ground, taking the sheet of paper while crossing her legs. She had decided to jog over to Gru’s house for a friendly visit, so she was still in her teal blue tank top and tight, knee short, black jogging shorts. As Agnes scribbled stick figures on her piece of paper, Lucy took time with hers. She took the one pencil in the pile of dumped out crayons on the wooden floor, and decided to sketch the girls something nice. She had taken a few art classes in college, yet she had always been a natural. She drew curly letters at the top and bottom, spelling out short words around her picture. She then drew more details, no longer paying attention to her surroundings. “Done!,” screamed Agnes, bouncing up from the ground. Lucy jumped in fright at the sudden noise, but stood up as w

Stanley was 18 years old. It was his birthday and he was in his room alone. When the doorbell rang, he opened it and saw his girlfriend, Bridget, at the front door. Bridget gave Stanley overalls for his birthday. Sure, it wasn't the greatest gift. But when she gave Stanley the overalls, she mentioned this,
"The man who helped me buy these overalls suggested that if you're really in for a surprise for you today, wear them without any other clothes on you!"
Stanley flinched at the mention of that. It felt a bit suspicious...But since she was his girlfriend, he bought it anyway. Bridget decided she'd stay at Stanley's house for a little bit while Stanley changed. When Stanley put them on without anything on him other than his black shoes, Stanley then felt his body aching as the changes then commenced.
First, yellow skin started to spread throughout his arms and then to his torso. Leaving his arms to shrink and his hands to lose two digits on each hand. The yellow skin felt really smooth

However, a loud buzz from the doorbell jolted them awake. They sat up, rubbed their eyes, and stared up at the TV, now displaying the security camera footage. Two young girls stood staring into one of the cameras.

A six year old girl stood in front of her parents, glaring at them in anger.
She had bright orange hair pulled back in a rough ponytail, and dazzling green eyes.
She was wearing a blue t-shirt and green shorts, her sneakers torn and muddy.
Laid atop her head was a tan and brown fedora, which was too big for her, so it drooped behind her head.
Pulling it back into its proper position, she growled at her parents again.
“That’s because you are being ridiculous! A spy!? Ha! Please. That is hilarious.”
Tears came to her eyes as her father nodded in agreement to her mother, and she tore down the hall to her room, slamming the door.
She slumped down to the floor, closing her eyes as she let herself cry.
Her parents never liked her, for they always wanted a boy.
When they had her, they raised her as one, not letting her wear anything the other girls at school did.

You see, I really struggled with this chapter...painfully. The words and characters wouldn't cooperate for me except in snippets, and the dual whammy of family/personal and health problems didn't help much. There were times when I was either too sick or too sad to write.
So, I'm kind of proud of myself for finishing this chapter.
And, on another note: The story format for parts of this chapter and the next few are inspired by the story-telling style Scott Beatty and David Ross used for the comic book 'Batman:Gotham Knights' issue # 42. (yes, I'm a Batman lover). This particular issue dealt with telling an almost month-long story in only 22 pages-and it was done beautifully. This tiny comic book managed to convey the ups and downs, frustrations and resolutions of several people tied together by a single problem. This feat was accomplished by using only one page for each day,
