“So, where have you been all this time? Everyone thinks you're dead.” I said while washing the two plates.
“Well, I’ve been hiding. Only coming out at night so no one could see me, I was scared...that people would try to kill me.”
I finished the dishes and dried my hands. I went back in the living room and sat back down next to him.
“If you ever need a place to get away or rest, hide, or whatever! Just come here. You know this is your home too.”
He smiled and I smiled back. I could see tears form in his eyes but he held them back. He leaned over and gave me a hug. He squeezed me tightly, I could tell he was truly touched. He let go, as did I.
“I missed you so much...” he said staring at me.
“I missed you too.” I stared back. We sat in silence for a few seconds, just taking in the moment. Finally one of us said something.
